Lighthearted, give me your unpopular opinions.

I can start;

The musical Hamilton and Star Wars are over rated.

OP posts:

Don't like David Bowies singing.

Think cat owners should be fined for letting cat shite all over..just like dog owners.

Faultymain5 · 29/03/2021 18:22

@the80sweregreat

I've only ever had one meal for four from a standard chicken! Not sure what I'm doing wrong really.
What do you do with the leftovers?

We always eat a repeat of Sunday dinner on Monday.

It depends on how old the kids are. I couldn't eat a 1/4 of a chicken, (my DH could), my DD wouldn't and my DS might. Nowadays, I always buy an extra thigh and leg joint from our butcher. I consider a standard bird to be 1.7 to 1.9kg. If your bird is larger than this, there is definitely a second meal to be had.

Mysterian · 29/03/2021 18:29

@Scrunchy95

Davis Bowie was overrated.
What about songs like:

Zeroes
Modern Glove
Golden Bears
Rashes to Rashes
Wife on Mars
and
The Bean Genie?

Theunamedcat · 29/03/2021 18:29

You are not a good dog owner if you don't pick up dog shit if you don't TRAIN your dog and if you don't make some small effort to shut your dog up when it's barking its head off

Not all children who have autism are like rainman (I have two apparently I need to "find" there talent 🙄)

Judging by my parking today parking near kerbs is fucking overated

Loud exhausts can fuck off 😤

Cats are fine on the bed

Theunamedcat · 29/03/2021 18:30

David Bowie was great in labyrinth I honestly cannot imagine anyone else in that role

thatsgotit · 29/03/2021 18:32

It's rude to ask guests to take their shoes off in your house.
People don't always need a bath or shower every single day.
Children do not always come first.
Afternoon tea is overpriced and overrated...
...and, on a similar note, people are far too obsessed with food at social gatherings, to the point where it takes over from actually socialising.
Line of Duty is boring.
So were the Beatles.
'Bingeing' on entire TV series in one go is boring. Whatever happened to cliffhangers and building up anticipation for the next episode?
Reaching five a day and 10,000 steps is hard.
Oh, and fruit is not the food of the devil.
Nor are jarred sauces.

Ha! I have two autistic DC and get similar comments. I've been told that I need to look into computers and numbers, it'll be one of those two, all autistic people are good at either computers or numbers. Nothing else, ever. There is only ICT or maths.

thatsgotit · 29/03/2021 18:35

Oh, and concepts 'like tough love' and 'brutal honesty' are massively overexploited as an excuse to be rude and unkind.

costco · 29/03/2021 18:39

I don't understand tiny dogs.

I don't shower everyday. Never have

@Hushpuppy1

Sorry, my response was to expectopelargonium‘s description of her bathroom.
I thought the same when I read her post, too.

My DD has Aspergers. Her talent is trusting people unreservedly and taking everything they say literally,

Sometimes it breaks my heart, watching how easily she can be hurt.

dworky · 29/03/2021 18:50

Alcohol AND coffee are absolutely vile

SchadenfreudePersonified · 29/03/2021 18:51

I don't understand tiny dogs.

Ask them to bark slowly and loudly.

AlexaNeverListens · 29/03/2021 18:58

Bob Marley was rubbish.

I don't like The Lake District. It makes me claustrophobic.

I think we were a nicer society when mums stayed at home and raised their children themselves 😱

Sorry not sorry.
@FooFighter99 if it makes you feel any better, I have a Queen (the band) sleeve tattoo... Clearly not the most popular myself 🤣
Sorry, slight tangent.... Please ignore if not interesting.

The drummer in the Foos, Taylor Hawkins, is the BIGGEST Queen fan ever.

There's a YouTube clip of them getting Roger Taylor's son, Rufus (now drummer with The Darkness) to play with them. It's awesome. A clash of my 2 favourite bands.

I know exactly what you mean ds1 is so rigid in his thinking he does not lie EVER it breaks my heart when his friends got ballistic at him and won't be friends with him because he answers truthfully questions such as who was making that noise who broke this who bullied xyz ds tells the truth the world would come to an end if he said nothing

He is hurt repeatedly because he never lies and trusts everything people say especially when they call him an "R" word (i won't repeat it im sure everyone knows it)

My unpopular opinion people suck

Definitely agree with this, and would add that anyone who says “I just tell it like it is” is probably just being rude for the sake of it.
Gwenhwyfar · 29/03/2021 19:59

""I have anxiety" is overused. The majority of those using it may be super stressed, but they won't have a diagnosed anxiety disorder. Throwing the term around willy-nilly makes it so much harder for those of us who do have diagnosed anxiety, to be taken seriously and not lumped in with those who are just a bit stressed out. It's the same as describing yourself as "a bit OCD" because you like your house clean."

This annoys me.
Plenty of people have conditions they haven't been diagnosed with. Some may have even been told by a doctor that they probably have something, but not received an official diagnosis.

Gwenhwyfar · 29/03/2021 20:04

"Anxiety can be situational - e.g., social anxiety - or time limited such as "my anxiety levels are really high lately". Neither of which would usually require a diagnosis or treatment in the same way as ongoing anxiety does"

Plenty of people do seek treatment for situational anxiety though. A valium before a scary doctor's appointment or interview, for example or beta blockers for performing artists and the most basic is probably self-treatment in the form of Dutch courage.

Gwenhwyfar · 29/03/2021 20:07

"im fed up of people announcing theyre depressed-well circumstances the last year are depressng but no youre not depressed"

How the hell do you know if they're depressed or not? Are you their psychiatrist?
Also, there's clinical depression and there's ordinary depression. They may have either of them.

FoxyTheFox · 29/03/2021 20:09

I think we were a nicer society when mums stayed at home and raised their children themselves

When was this exactly? Women have always worked, right through history, and the notion of a stay at home parent/housewife is a relatively new one.

Lake District = wet, boring, you’ve seen one tree, you’ve seen them all. Give me a city any day.

Line of duty. Absolute shite. Terrible acting, ridiculous plots.

Beyoncé can’t sing for toffee. She makes my ears hurt.

PrintempsAhoy · 29/03/2021 20:16

Foxy, my mum was fired from her job as soon as she got pregnant (in 1971) she was a teacher
