Crawling back to normality slightly slower than a tortoise taking the scenic route...

I think there is much more if a divide coming out of this lockdown than the last. Those that are scared have had the fear for so long now. I just walked into town there are people walking empty streets in masks still leaping into the road rather than passing people. I have just walked through the park and there are groups meeting up , people enjoying outdoor drinks. The sports centre has stated outdoor classes and the park is busy.

Its going to be interesting moving forward with hopefully good weather and hospitality opening .

TabbyStar · 31/03/2021 14:10

The teens were all our in our local park last night, DD said "everyone" was there. Usual complaints on social media, but police just seemed to say there's no rules against drinking in the park and they were all in groups of six Grin

Worldgonecrazy · 31/03/2021 14:55

We had families and very large groups in the playing fields behind our house. The teens were there quite late, and left a load of rubbish, though to be fair the bins were overflowing anyway. I would normally mean but it was great to see so many people being human.

I've just been for a tràil run. There's a large private estate a few miles away with access on public footpaths out into countryside. The main track is basically a quiet, single track road. It's mainly older ramblers/ strollers and abundant space. No facilities. I did see a couple of chin warmers. Maybe they're people coming out of shielding feeling cagey, but there really was no need and it must just be uncomfortable with the sweat and hanging off ears. Everyone was cheery through and plenty of space to avoid any social distancing shuffles.

Just heard on the headlines that Nottingham has closed two inner city parks. If only those pesky Victorians built bigger back yards for congregating in Hmm

Jesus. Ventured back after a break. The Ds are still wailing on about people in parks I see. Are they never going to get bored of their nonsense?!

Brilliant article

Maybe our next thread title from there.

'Experians' want to live, 'Saftians' want survival (at all costs)

or something on those lines.

(Except the 'experians' sound too much like something to do with credit ratings)

AcornAutumn · 31/03/2021 15:36

Bog I think that might be due to the fights rather than the flocking but I'm not sure.

flower11 · 31/03/2021 16:02

Isaysteadyon
Thanks for sharing. Good article.

I always feel that the others are all about me me me and the 'experians' are more about the bigger picture and more long term consequences for every one and more of a sense of the greater good.

BogRollBOGOF · 31/03/2021 16:20

I just caught the headlines on the radio before I headed out. The trouble is if it's gangs and violence, it'll just pop up elsewhere. It's not parks that are the actual problem.

I've just remembered that I had a lovely picnic in one of those parks on my hen weekend!

Bog "The trouble is if it's gangs and violence, it'll just pop up elsewhere. It's not parks that are the actual problem."

Agree. In fairness though, they tend to lurk for a while so a dispersal order is often a practical option while people calm down.

I'm not defending the park closure, just saying I think it might not be about Covid.

ISaySteadyOn · 31/03/2021 17:59

It's hard to remember sometimes that not everything is to do with Covid!

@NannyGythaOgg, @flower11, glad you liked it. I definitely fit in the Experia category. I play Dungeons and Dragons when I can and if you don't do anything and play it safe, you get 0 experience points otherwise known as XP. Without XP, you cannot reach a higher level and cannot improve on your character's abilities. I mention all this merely to suggest using XP in the next thread title. Smile

NeedWineNow · 31/03/2021 18:58

Excellent article. I'm definitely an Experian. I feel despair when I still see and hear some threads and articles.

Recycledblonde · 31/03/2021 19:58

I know this will probably out me for who I work for but I’m so angry I don’t care. To commemorate our hard work during Covid we’re to get a commemorative coin and upto 7.5 hours off to look after our ‘health and well-being’ Wtf are they thinking? I’d personally like to forget the whole shitshow and if they really have money to burn then at least have the decency to give us a full day off and no fucking stupid coin.

flower11 · 31/03/2021 20:09

We got a teabag, sachets of coffee, pack of biscuits like you get in hotels and hand sanitizer.
Woo hoo!!
Needless to say we were not impressed !

110APiccadilly · 31/03/2021 20:45

Just one teabag? That's almost impressively stingy.

justasking111 · 31/03/2021 20:48

My friend and colleagues got an email to reapply for their own jobs because the workforce was being cut by 50%.

They've probably deliberately gone for the 7.5 hours rather than a full day so that people don't take the full amount. So much more hassle to arrange than booking a full day. Make sure you take it!

Tell them to stick the commemorative coin up their arse, though.

Curlygirl06 · 31/03/2021 20:53

Nearly lost the will to live today at work. We've been doing this for 12 months, 12 months and if I have to tell one more person to step away from my till and stop leaning round my screen I'll bloody kill someone. There are spots on the floor, bloody stand on them you cretins.
I'm not talking about people who've just started coming out, we have a lot of elderly people who are just starting to get out now they have their vaccine, and some of them have had some really sad stories. I love talking to them and helping them through the new strange world they're now in. However, the absolute fuckwits who are in every day should know better!
Our employers have insisted on mask wearing everywhere (they don't work but hey, it looks good) so I'm spending a lot of time muttering swear words that people can't lip read.
For every lovely person in today there must have been an equal number of fuckwits ( my favorite word)
And breathe.

Taswama · 31/03/2021 21:21

My colleague came round to my house so we could go for a lunchtime walk. She arrived wearing a face mask and said, 'wasn't sure what the protocol was'. I didn't know what to say, but my face must have talked for me as she ripped off the mask and gave me a hug. In broad daylight too!! Then she came inside while I finished off some stuff and happily chatted to DS2, who is supposed to be self isolating due to burst bubble at school. What a lovely woman!

I can't find this but am making a guess

I can't fathom commemorative anything for this.

BogRollBOGOF · 01/04/2021 10:55

Morning all. It's V day for me today. I hope my immune system plays nicely... I'm supposed to be doing a virtual half marathon over the weekend...

It wasn't the best timing to be summoned. Quite a few school mums have been called up just in time for the holidays!

Hope it goes well for you. I had another younger colleague off yesterday with post vaccine symptoms.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 01/04/2021 12:00

Good luck BogRollBOGOF hope you are ok and don't have too bad post vaccination symptoms.

BogRollBOGOF · 01/04/2021 12:05

I've got it this evening.
I've just had my mauling at the osteopath so I am guarenteed to feel lousy tomorrow. Two birds with one stone, or at least 3 limbs Grin
