Crawling back to normality slightly slower than a tortoise taking the scenic route...

@TabbyStar I have a Dryrobe style thing I was wearing back in April over my swimming costume both before and after swimming for that reason.

@Worldgonecrazy Συγχαρητήρια!!!!

oooooo give me all the details. I am so so happy for you!!

flower11 · 29/03/2021 14:07

Worldgonecrazy great news . Something to look forward to.

I am having my second vaccine tomorrow lots of my colleagues have had to have a day or two off afterwards, seems to be having more side effects than first dose where most of us just had sore arms.

ISaySteadyOn · 29/03/2021 15:11

Oh, that's lovely news @Worldgonecrazy!

TabbyStar · 29/03/2021 15:13

I've got a dryrobe style thing, which was great for getting changed under, but the woman in a dressing gown it was just a dressing gown that she left in!

MercyBooth · 29/03/2021 15:16

@Worldgonecrazy thats lovely.

@Stratfordplace i can barely get the hairbrush through my hair. Its so long and thick...........i nearly snapped the handle off. I also have black curly chin hair. Last time that was waxed was 10th March last year.

Hancock and Sunak are definately getting cuts and Patel.

Jesus wept. According to the bbc folk are flocking again. Who would have thunk it on a nice sunny day. Cue the photos of busy places 🙄

TabbyStar · 29/03/2021 17:15

Went round to see DM. Within 5 minutes of arriving she was telling us how numbers are increasing and whole schools have had to close and we might have to lock down again 🙄🙄🙄. I got really snappy with her, and it set the tone for our whole visit. I feel really guilty but things have been really shit for me but if I told her the extent she would be so anxious that it would make things 100 times worse!

DD said they'd had people too scared to come for their second vaccine after being fine for their first because the Govt is sending out multiple letters about people being CEV, my DM has had four: by post X 2, text and email. One action is undermining another.

Congratulations Worldgonecrazy!

I don’t feel terribly strongly about masks EXCEPT I don’t believe that everyone washes theirs every time they wear them. My Mum (who, to be fair, barely leaves the house because she’s terrified and there’s no where open) gets her mask out of her handbag, wears it then puts it right back for the next time. This is weird and gross. It’s pointless wearing a dirty mask.

That's what I do. I will wear a mask when and where I have to because I'm not exempt and I am a bit scared of judgement. My rebellion re. the fact that they are sodding useless is not to do anything useful with it. It goes in my pocket, comes out to be worn, and goes back in. It may well be growing the next pandemic at this rate tbh.
AcornAutumn · 29/03/2021 18:45

CruCru "It’s pointless wearing a dirty mask."

It saves a hefty fine.

I might brave the bus with my lanyard tomorrow. tube is fine but buses are a bit dodge.

AcornAutumn · 29/03/2021 18:51

Bog re June, did your friends say they were scared? I have few friends but they are all part of a social whirl so I think we relieved to ditch extra social stuff.

Trade press reporting T&T even for outdoors

Not a surprise to most of us but if true, there will be strange MN folk shocked

AcornAutumn · 29/03/2021 18:51

*were not we! I think they saw me as a social extra.

CruCru · 29/03/2021 18:54

Yes, I suppose that’s my point. People wear dirty masks to avoid a fine or to look like they’re “doing something”. A dirty mask is much worse than no mask.

Having said that, I think even a clean mask is relatively pointless.

Perfect day for a flocking. 🤣🤣

O thought everyone wore dirty masks. Depending on your definition, but I don't want to shell out for loads of them so I quite often just have one in my pocket and forget about it. I avoid going anywhere I'll need it, so barely use it. But yeah like fuck do I carefully pick it up by the loops and place it over my face...
TabbyStar · 29/03/2021 19:01

I'm also a dirty mask wearer Grin

I've just had a conversation with my DB who thinks it's too much of a risk to come and see my DM who has had both vaccinations to help with the jobs she needs doing, even if he does a lateral flow test beforehand and has no effing symptoms. He's going to wait until he's had both vaccinations (in his 40s, hasn't had one yet). I've been careful around my DM, especially before DD and I had covid, but honestly it's difficult to understand his rationale. In the meantime I have to do everything for her.

MrsEWeatherwax · 29/03/2021 19:02

My mask stays in my jeans pocket/ bag where ever I can bothered to leave. Wash every month ish. I am only wearing to obey the law. My DH wears a bandana, he looks like a bandit!
I dread to think what germs it’s carrying but not covid.
The weather here has been so windy and cold even though sunny. Jealous of other places nice day.

Does anyone have a Times subscription and can do a share token? This looks very promising from the opening couple of paragraphs.

SirSamuelVimes · 29/03/2021 19:10

Thanks, @TabbyStar. It's a bit flippant but it makes good points.

TabbyStar · 29/03/2021 19:20

Quite apt considering the post I made about my DB's risk (in)tolerance!

justasking111 · 29/03/2021 19:25

@TabbyStar it's true we're broken, we will comply with some things just to live now 🙄

justasking111 · 29/03/2021 19:26

OH and Boris is broken

TabbyStar · 29/03/2021 19:37

It's fascinating though how different people are responding, most of my friends are ADs, and all the teens I know are meeting up, not in as big groups as normal, but smaller groups, so it's a surprise to come across anyone else who's massively risk averse. My DB isn't usually that bothered about following rules. Though I do wonder whether he is just using it as an excuse not to have to do stuff.

Yes I thought the stuff in that article about past Boris Vs current Boris was interesting, who would have thought I'd be more of a fan of past Boris!
