Crawling back to normality slightly slower than a tortoise taking the scenic route...

Haven’t been on the AD threads for months but feeling the need again!

Hello everyone and glad to hear you sounding much better than last time I was here @Jourdain11

BIoodyStupidJohnson · 24/03/2021 09:52

Great news @Jourdain11 Flowers

110APiccadilly · 24/03/2021 10:03

Thanks @LivinLaVidaLoki. The theory about Texas - I know everyone (including me) likes to laugh at the Redneck "muh guns, muh freedom," attitude, but maybe there's something in it?! I don't think I'd ever be quite comfortable living in a country with quite such easy access to guns myself, but that is very cultural - I happen to have a couple of friends in Texas and they'd feel completely the opposite and be uncomfortable with a country quick restricted guns.

110APiccadilly · 24/03/2021 10:04

*which restricted.

RockaLock · 24/03/2021 10:26

Really pleased to hear your news, @Jourdain11 Smile

It is certainly a very different culture re: guns.

DH works for an oil company, and the global HQ is in Texas. They used to regularly have managers over on secondments to the UK (and vice versa).

One manager asked if he would be allowed to bring his guns with him, and seemed quite put out when everyone over here was all "why would you want to do that, of course you can't bring guns with you Confused"

NannyGythaOgg · 24/03/2021 11:10

@Jourdain11 So pleased Flowers

Curlygirl06 · 24/03/2021 12:08

@Jourdain11 good news, well done.

I didn't go out and shine a light last night, cba. Bet my neighbour 2 doors down did, she gets right on my pip. I was going to look out the window and see if she did but I forgot.

My friend and I are right pissed off as well, nothing changes, same shit different day, we hate it, no light on the horizon, bugger we're fed up.

Took my baby granddaughter into a supermarket last week for the first time since she was a few months old. She was ok ish, but looked a bit hmmm about all the strange people in masks, even tho she sees a lot of people on the school run/ dog walks etc. Her dad made a telling comment, not sure if he was joking. He said we won't know if she's been affected until she's seen a therapist when she's older, she's 16 months now.

ISaySteadyOn · 24/03/2021 13:03

I feel like my limbs are made of lead and I am moving through treacle today. Anyone else?

Worldgonecrazy · 24/03/2021 13:42

@ISaySteadyOn not yet, ask me again after my one hour Caroline Girvan work out later !

On a serious note, that’s how I felt on Monday but today the sun is out and it’s doing wonders to improve my mood. Plus the number of people who finally seem to be waking up to the psychological warfare and manipulation that has been going on.

Evenstar · 24/03/2021 14:45

@ISaySteadyOn me too, but think it may be a combination of the fibromyalgia, antibiotics, 2 sick animals to look after and the weather. Plus this interminable lockdown, I think that alone is enough to explain the feeling. You are not alone 💐

I shout at the TV every evening when they announce the figures are down again and what great news it is “So why do we still have to stay at home” an entire NHS trust near me announced they had only 8 COVID patients in total and just 1 in ICU. I had to turn off at that point.

So pleased to hear your good news @Jourdain11 💐

My washing is blowing on the line which makes me happy

Lostinacloud · 24/03/2021 17:51

Wow, surprised to see that!

Shes a clinician I follow her on Twitter. She cant write something like that under her real name which ties in with what @Recycledblonde said.

pleased to say I'd have known nothing about the anniversary if it wasn't on this thread.

I think of the anniversary as the day lockdown came into force legally.

Tube report - generally good with many noses out and no one looking at me.

But...one man told another man to put his mask on properly. I wish I was brave enough to interfere.

Yes, but I probably don't count as I did a 3 hour run Grin I'll probably feel like that tomorrow!

Some playground mask rebellion is occuring amongst those who have to lur for 10/ 20 mins for siblings. It's a bit tentative depending on who's around.

I saw the happy sight of a group of men having an illicit get-together by the river; 3 on mobility s ooters. They'd decorated a bench with a lacy table cloth and had win glasses on it.I shouted "I like your style" as I ran past Grin

This is very random but what do agnostura bitters taste like?

I've had them in an old fashioned, I presume
I hate whisky but if I like an old fashioned, I can use whisky? My late father left a few bottles.

An evening cocktail is becoming a norm and I am not sorry! Grin

AcornAutumn · 24/03/2021 20:24

Bog, I love those men. I would probably have sidled up with an innocent face and asked to join!

Recycledblonde · 24/03/2021 20:48

My sister, who is one of the most law abiding people I know, has just told me she is currently staying with her ds and dil with their new baby. She says they’re are bubbling with is technically ok but it’s about 150 miles away so as support bubbles are advised to be local, it’s not the spirit of the law. I’m so proud of her.😀Don’t think she’s ever broken a law or the spirit of one ever before but she is so fed up and angry. Her dil is also an nhs worker and was the one who invited her to stay.🎉🎉🎉

But it's perfectly legal.

I don't think about the spirit of the law. Not sure I even know what it is. The legislation and the fines are the crucial part.

Recycledblonde · 24/03/2021 21:44

Yes it’s just a year ago she wouldn’t have done it because it says it should be local even if it doesn’t say must. She was never a dementor and would never report anyone but she would probably not approved if I had done it a year ago. She’s always been like that but the worm has turned now. She’s swapping bubbles between all her kids like there’s no tomorrow.

It's great that worms are turning! I wish I saw more of that in my groups but then again, people aren't likely to say it to others, I guess.
