Helium filled balloons - delivered?

ohwaitthatwasme · 01/03/2021 19:46

Can anyone recommend a site for inflated helium birthday balloons? Looking to have 4/5 delivered.

@waterlego

I think there are lots of ways to celebrate and make birthdays special without helium balloons. 🤷🏼‍♀️
I don't think I have claimed a balloon or 2 is the only way? It was just a thought. Like I said, we have had many many birthdays over the past 20 years and this is the first time I have considered buying balloons, so yes, I do know there are other ways.

I mean I'd like to read the up to date information you found. Link ?

Surely you could just google this yourself?

OP clearly some others are perfect and don't do anything bad for the planet... Ever...

Of course we all create damage to the planet. There is a difference between things that are unavoidable, like driving for example, and things which are nice/fun but completely unnecessary.

ElephantsNest · 01/03/2021 23:32

Please could you include the link to the research you found OP, I’m interested

Why? What is it you are looking for? What is preventing you from using google?

Oh dear OP, you have upset a lot of people with your balloon idea 🙈

I get what you are saying about the research you're reading!

The OP is not claiming to have found any information suggesting that helium is in abundance.. she is just saying she is researching about the issue!

I didn't know that helium was in short supply either, I was going to get DS some birthday balloons but thanks to this thread, I won't now.

You learn something new everyday!

waterlego · 01/03/2021 23:41

I just Googled ‘helium balloons environment’ and these were the first 9 results:

Helium filled balloons - delivered?
Helium filled balloons - delivered?
Helium filled balloons - delivered?
DidYouTouchMyDrumKit · 01/03/2021 23:44

I take my hat off to you OP. Someone feisty enough to shut these stupid posters up.

Just answer the fucking question people. Or don't answer. Nobody wants to hear you dribbling on about the planet over what is amounting to TWO BALLOONS which aren't being set free across the countryside to strangle owls (and that IS something worthy of derision of course)

OP - I recommend eBay. Lots on there. Also have a look for balloon displays

Mykittensaremyfriends · 01/03/2021 23:46

Have you checked on your local freecycle/Facebook pages? Lots of people have been gifting there's after the day of the birthday as they can last quite a few days. Win win!

KettleWentBang · 01/03/2021 23:57

Look on your local fb marketplace. We have a few local people who deliver.
We also have a shop that does click and collect for them, bit of an indoor market type shop and can open because it sells plants and face masks etc.
Reminded me I need to order some.

StormcloakNord · 02/03/2021 00:07

@rabbitholes don't think you'll get any of this alleged up to date information...

Suffice to say it doesn't exist Grin

I have but without being psychic I don't know what you are reading.

What on earth do you mean? Of course there is more up to date information Confused someone has posted upthread pictures of much more recent articles.

OP posts:
ohwaitthatwasme · 02/03/2021 00:10

@rabbitholes

Presumably the same as anyone else searching for helium shortage or helium environment etc etc

OP posts:
StormcloakNord · 02/03/2021 00:10

Also OP you're obviously being obtuse because you've realised you're in the wrong here.

First PP to reply said helium was finite, you said you had more up to date info to base the quandary on, another PP said not to get balloons, you said why not, more bleating about up to date info. You snapped to being defensive clearly looking for an out in which it was "okay" to get stupid helium balloons.

We ask for up to date info, you cannot provide. There is none.

rabbitholes · 02/03/2021 00:11

What on earth do you mean? Of course there is more up to date information someone has posted upthread pictures of much more recent articles.

So share the link to what you found then, we can't consider the issue without seeing what you are reading, if we are wrong about the helium issue then show us so we can read it ourselves.

StormcloakNord · 02/03/2021 00:13

@rabbitholes I think OP is trying to imply they are now in agreement that helium is finite, and either are choosing to ignore the evidence and buy balloons anyway or are choosing not to.

They're just following on with the defensive attitude from the first few posts.

rabbitholes · 02/03/2021 00:15

I expect so.
Oh well, I'm off to Amarillo.

StormcloakNord · 02/03/2021 00:16

@rabbitholes funnily enough I'm currently hugging my pillow.

ohwaitthatwasme · 02/03/2021 00:17

Also OP you're obviously being obtuse because you've realised you're in the wrong here.

How am I wrong? I have taken onboard the fact that there is a shortage of helium and spent some time reading about it!

First PP to reply said helium was finite, you said you had more up to date info to base the quandary on,

Well yes, because up to date information is better then 8 year old information. The quandary was something I didn't even know I had what I posted but took on board immediately when it was printed out to me.

another PP said not to get balloons, you said why not, more bleating about up to date info**

Not bleating. Just clarifying I was reading up on the subject.

You snapped to being defensive clearly looking for an out in which it was "okay" to get stupid helium balloons.

You have made this assumption up all by yourself. This is not the case at all.

We ask for up to date info, you cannot provide. There is none.

There is fucking loads Confused

I'm not trying to imply anything. And I never implied that I disagreed. Other people did that and the rest just piled on.

Of course we all create damage to the planet. There is a difference between things that are unavoidable, like driving for example, and things which are nice/fun but completely unnecessary.

@waterlego going to have to pull you up on your righteous assertion there that driving is 'unavoidable' - I do hope you have an electric car?

OP I had no idea helium was in short supply either. If it's a finite resource used to support medical diagnosis then why on earth is the Government still allowing Clintons et al to be selling it to the public? Surely it's the Government you lot should all be directing your helium ire at not the OP! Isn't there a campaign or something or do you just wait to pounce on message boards?

StormcloakNord · 02/03/2021 00:31

@VaVaGloom on what planet do you think the government would think to put preventative action in place. Nothing will be done til it's dried up and we're all thinking oh fuck.

I have no ire at the OP. I don't like people who are obtuse, that's all.

ohwaitthatwasme · 02/03/2021 00:31

OP I had no idea helium was in short supply either. If it's a finite resource used to support medical diagnosis then why on earth is the Government still allowing Clintons et al to be selling it to the public?

You are not wrong. Awareness should be raised.

Surely it's the Government you lot should all be directing your helium ire at not the OP!

You are not wrong, however the vipers cannot resist a pile on. Even when I have said from the off I am looking into much more up to date information several times, rather then take me at face value they have decided this means I am disagreeing with them (I wasn't) and that I am going to go ahead and get a ton of balloons and give no fucks (also a no). It doesn't matter whether you take things on board and try to learn from them or not, these people will twist it round to give them the opportunity to peer down from their high horse. I hope it makes them feel good. Anyone with half a brain reading the thread is likely to think they are stupid for making up what I said rather than actually reading it though.
