What's your recurring dream?

JustDavesWife · 22/02/2021 20:14

Was reading another post and a few people said they regularly dream that they find a new room in their house so thought I'd ask what's your recurring dream and if you have looked into the meaning?

I used to dream about water but not in a nice calm way it was always massively choppy or huge tidal waves 🤷‍♀️

My more recent one (over the last few years) is that I've killed someone, I never kill them in my dream they are already dead but I definitely did it and I'm in a massive panic that I'm going to get caught! I've been driving with them wrapped up in carpet on my front seat or I've hidden them in the loft, it's absolutely terrifying!! Anyone else want to make me feel like I'm not an actual psychopath?!

Oh my god OP, I have this exact same dream. Exactly! It’s always a woman I’ve killed and never actually happens in the dream, I’m just always dealing with the aftermath. Do you have any idea what it means? I find it so distressing!

YouBringLightInToADarkPlace · 22/02/2021 21:44

I always dream that I've put myself forward for a main role in a play but on the night of the performance I realised I didn't try hard enough and didn't learn the lines and I let the whole cast down.

WundaWumman · 22/02/2021 21:44

@JustDavesWife I have exactly that dream! I think it's related to anxiety. I have bodies hidden in walls, bins, pizza boxes, you name it! I had never (apart from once) known who it is I've killed or how /why.

Izzy24 · 22/02/2021 21:45

I’m looking after a baby. I don’t know whose it is, but it’s not mine. It gets smaller and smaller until it disappears altogether 🤷‍♀️

Northernshepherd · 22/02/2021 21:45

I have also had dreams where I've either killed somebody or have found a body & left it. But that never happens in the dream i just know I've done it and am so worried about getting in trouble. Also the room thing.

Diddumz · 22/02/2021 21:46

A horrible dream about buying pet birds (budgies, cockatiels etc) and forgetting to feed them so they die.

I also regularly dream that I am resitting my finals and haven't done any revision.

2021namechanger · 22/02/2021 21:46

Oh wow I have the extra room one - had no idea that it was common. I wonder what it “means”

I also have the trying to run/fight someone off and am frozen or have no strength.

2021namechanger · 22/02/2021 21:48

@DuckonaBike

Blimey ememem are you Scrooge?
Genuinely laughed out loud.
JustDavesWife · 22/02/2021 21:48

@MoroSun that's so weird and my "victim" is always a woman as well. I really need to find out what it means!!

OP posts:
JustDavesWife · 22/02/2021 21:50

@WundaWumman that's exactly the same as me, I never know who it is (apart from female), why I did it or how. The body is always hidden in different places, the car, the loft, down the side of the house behind the recycling boxes! It's really scary at the time and I always wake up in a real panic and then the relief is amazing!

@DuzzyFuck

Quite often that I've got an appointment / flight booked / something time sensitive and I can't quite gather what I need together in time to be on time for it.

Occasionally about the spare room in my childhood home that was (too long a story to explain) haunted AF.

When I first met DP and was settling into happiness with him I dreamt vividly about every ex I've ever had in about a three week period. Weird Hmm

Ooh @DuzzyFuck tell us about your haunted bedroom! Sounds like a good story in itself
BearSoFair · 22/02/2021 21:51

Being on the tube to work and never being able to get to the top of the escalator. I could stand still or try to run to the top but no matter how long I waited or how many steps I went up I'd never get to the ticket hall. Stopped pretty much as soon as I left that job so I'm sure it was some kind of unconscious stress response!

JustDavesWife · 22/02/2021 21:51

Properly laughed at that!

That I’m in a car and the breaks don’t work.

Or that I have to get to the top of a building I don’t know well, that has loads of staircases with no handrails and an open drop on one side that get narrower and narrower the higher up the building I go until they’re basically just footholds, like I’m on the side of mount hua Shan or something.

What's your recurring dream?
Northernshepherd · 22/02/2021 21:53

It feels good to know there are other dream murderers.

2021namechanger · 22/02/2021 21:56

Also whenever I have to say take a flight or have an important meeting - I usually dream that I woke up late had missed it. Anyone else?

My mum used to have a dream dictionary thing - wish I had it now so could let all you dream murderers know what it means you psychosGrin

Toottootdrivers · 22/02/2021 21:58

It's about 4pm and I suddenly realise it's Christmas Eve and I don't have anything sorted. Then the rest of the dream involves running frantically around a shopping centre which is about to close. I get this dream at any time of year, usually when I'm stressed at work

KatyaZamolodchikova · 22/02/2021 21:58

Yes about the not being able to use the phone!!!

Recently I’ve been having plane related dreams, predominantly about the airport and getting on the plane, occasionally it takes off but I NEVER get anywhere. Sometimes I’m going somewhere, sometimes I’m trying to get home. But I never ever dream about arriving, only ever going.

My other dream is definitely my stress dream and I know things have gone too far if I start with it and that is my teeth falling out. I try to put them back in, I think Tiffany I can put them back in I can get them fixed? but then they crumble into dust and they won’t go back in and I can’t save them and that’s just that tooth gone forever. It’s stressful while I’m dreaming it. It clearly indicates that I need to take care of myself when I’m awake.

fluffythedragonslayer · 22/02/2021 22:01

I need the toilet but the only one available is either really dirty or, more commonly, without a door / cubicle, just in the middle of a busy room etc.

That my ex boyfriend from uni is actually my eldest kid's dad (he isn't! Literally haven't seen ex since 3 years before DS was born 😂) and I feel guilty that DS hasn't ever seen him and I don't know how to get in touch with him. I have to tell DS that his Dad isn't really his dad and I'm really worried about it. Always relieved when I wake up and remember he is DH's son after all 😂

Extra rooms in the house, back at uni again but I don't know what my timetable is and can't find the timetable building (!) to find out, trying to run up a hill cos I am late and can't move, trying to phone someone and it doesn't work (I get all the numbers wrong and I don't know why).

Bubbletube · 22/02/2021 22:03

Since lockdown, I have a lot of dreams of being in crowds, another common one for me is being abroad and losing my passport and not being able to get back or being out at night and not being able to find my way home.

73kittycat73 · 22/02/2021 22:03

I did hear that dreaming about your teeth falling out actually means you are scared of aging/death?

Bluefargo · 22/02/2021 22:04

@fluffythedragonslayer I have that exact dream about toilets too that the doors don't close properly or cover up the cubicle properly. Must have it at least 5 or 6 times a year.

fluffythedragonslayer · 22/02/2021 22:05

When I'm looking forward to something I often dream that I sleep and miss it. I go to a festival every summer (pandemic years aside) and every year leading up to it I regularly dream that I'm at the festival, just woken up and realised it's the last day and I didn't go to anything.

Happened in the lead up to my 40th birthday party too, kept dreaming that I got to the party just as everyone was going home 😂

lollipoprainbow · 22/02/2021 22:05

My sister died five years ago of cancer, I have recurring dreams where she is alive and at family parties etc but I know she shouldn't be there because she is ill but it's never mentioned by anyone.

WendyJames35 · 22/02/2021 22:08

The most frequently reoccurring is that I've climbed to the top of something really high and it was easy to get up there, but I can't get back down. So, it might be I'm sat on top of a massive bridge, no bother getting up there but now can't see a way down..

Also, running-just can't put one foot in front of the other.

Teeth falling out

On a few occasions recently, am on a dating app searching for a man. Wake up and see my husband of 20 years next to me....(husband is reality)
