We’ve started getting a weekly Waitrose delivery, after it became impossible to get a Sainsburys slot. It’s not improved my bank balance. But as a greedy person I reckon it’s improved my happiness. My current favourite finds are:

Frozen mixed mushrooms
Grated gruyere
Remoulade
Faith in Nature shower gels
Waitrose 1 dessert tarts. All of them.
Lime and coconut ice cream.
Gravadlax
I like that you get a free newspaper with your shop.

I’d say the quality of the fruit and veg is comparable bit not better than other good supermarkets (Morrison’s is good for this). But their other ranges are much more interesting and well made.

onedropbeat I agree. We buy the game pie mix in the 3 for £10 range and it’s lovely.

Their curries are lovely so I always get those for us. I also love their No 1 chocolate gelato, the best ice cream ever!

Bag of soffrito mix.

Cappuccino mousse dessert thing.

Potato gratin.

Other than that Waitrose doesn't wow me but it is my local supermarket.

I don't shop at Waitrose anywhere near as much as I used to, but this thread is making me hungry! This is what I like to buy:

  • free range/organic meat, especially the pork. I can't find free range pork in any other supermarket
  • Jackson's seeded bloomer
  • Charlie Bigham does a paneer and cauliflower curry which is lovely

Tony's chocolonely is the absolute best chocolate out there right now. They do some slightly unusual flavours with pretzel pieces or a white raspberry one, but the straight up milk or dark ones are by far the best. Think they are about £4 a bar.

Going later to pick up dog food (Lily's kitchen is mostly cheaper there than the pet store) and have made a list for Waitrose from this thread 😬
I'll add (if not already mentioned) their own brand Cava - lovely and dry and when on offer at £7 an absolute steal!

Taifun - basil infused tofu
Own brand basil infused olive oil
Avocados

Are the things I'm missing from waitrose. I'm getting a Tesco delivery so not going out to the shops. If I did, that's what I'd get from waitrose!

Also Terre di Faiano organic red wine. It's usually on offer and flies off the shelves, it's gorgeous. Haven't found it anywhere else.

Do they still do the coconut and lime ice cream? That is to die for!!

Just started online shopping from there but was disappointed with the veg compared to Sainsbury's. The cucumber was bendy and the carrots were mushy at the ends.

Got another shop booked next week so going to give it one more try. Watching this thread.

I get a Waitrose delivery about once every two months otherwise it's just too expensive. Things on my next list, inspired by this thread:

Fresh baguette - heavenly
Free newspaper
Own brand oven chips
Black bomber cheese (didn't know they sold it - hooray!)
No 1 chocolate gelato
Might try the No 1 chocolate
Beef in chianti frozen meal
The frozen lollies for DC which include veg juice
Will also have a look at other frozen meals as we don't to buy frozen but they are handy

No1 vintage cider and perry. Great quality, and strong!

Beef stroganoff ready meal. Lovely quality meat.

Loose fruit and veg. It's the only place in my town I can buy just 1 or 2 spuds, peppers or onions, everywhere else is usually packaged only.

Cooks' garlic bulbs. They are the easiest to peel of any I've ever used.

What are your waitrose best buys?

All of the 'ingredients', the tinned mackerel/sardines that still have the calcium rich bones, unlike every other supplier who sells fillets and thereby reduces the benefit for people looking at bone health/reducing the risk of osteoporosis. So many cheeses.

I really liked their own brand bio powder but haven't been able to find it for a while.

Not a huge fan of any ding dinners, but I do think what's in the trays compared to other retailers looks better.

The flowers and plants are almost always perfect. And no bloody mauve and yellow chrysanthemum bunches. You can even get bunches without lilies in them, so no poisoning the cat inadvertently.

And I love being able to get more than just the most basic growing herbs and veg.

I want a vicarious shopping list thread now - what did you get, OP?
