Getting pregnant after vasectomy doesn't really happen to people, right?

Snip was years ago. Like 8 years.

Am a week late. Cramps and sore boobs for 7 days now but no bloody AF.
Am starting to get concerned Hmm but it's just one of those stories from friends of friends isn't it??

Hope you get the result you want.

IrishCream123 · 22/01/2021 15:31

Did you POAS yet?

LividLoving · 22/01/2021 15:33

Oh you are so pregnant. Hope that’s okay with you, and if it’s not that you’ll be okay.

I’ve been putting loopy menstrual cycles down to menopause, I hadn’t considered the pandemic could be having an impact. Haven’t worried about pregnancy, ( that would involve actually having sex!,) but feeling a bit better about it now!

Marmite27 · 22/01/2021 15:44

Happened to my aunt and uncle. She’s 35 this year. They nearly got divorced over it.

Fufumuji · 22/01/2021 15:46

It does happen but it's really rare.

My friend found her self pregnant, her newish DP had had a vasectomy several years earlier and professed himself astounded at what had happened.
Eventually turned out he hadn't got the snip at all. Hmm

This thread is scary. I’m very keen for DH to have the snip now our family is complete (but making sure not to pressure him as I know that’s not fair) but I’ve been viewing it as the permanent solution. Is there nothing that’s 100%?!!

Lsquiggles · 22/01/2021 15:48

Did you get a test OP? Shock

WhateverJudy · 22/01/2021 15:48

Should have also said, I hope you’re ok OP and that this is just a scare for you.

If you've had the newer style laser vasectomy and have had 2 tests 6 months apart to show it has worked fully, you've more chance of winning the lotto than getting someone pregnant.

movingonup20 · 22/01/2021 16:01

Happened to friends, he had the 3 month check up etc. More common if done younger apparently

Fluffyhairforever · 22/01/2021 16:44

Wishing you the best for the result you are after, OP.

LMNOPEE · 22/01/2021 18:44

Still nothing. Feeling very heavy and periody but nothing.

DH said he would get me a test on way home. He forgot Hmm he reckons I don't need one anyway as there is no way I can be.

If there's no blood in the morning I'm going to pee in a cup and walk to local chemist.

Moving he was about 27 when he had it done.

I told my DH he wasn't coming near me until he'd had the snip, now I'm going to have to tell him the bad news that he's not coming near me at all ever... fingers crossed for you OP

SnowFields · 22/01/2021 18:50

I knew they didn’t always work but had no idea they could reverse after so many years! 😱

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 22/01/2021 18:57

Fingers crossed AF arrives. DH had the snip 4 years ago but I also got a copper coil just to be safe.

FlatteredRhubardFool · 22/01/2021 20:37

I've read a couple of threads in the past year or so where the snip has failed.
Far more incidences of copper coil fails though.
Hope you get the result you want.

LMNOPEE · 22/01/2021 20:55

I really don't want to be pregnant. My youngest is 10. I have a kid in college. Just no. No. No.

pinkandblueflowers · 22/01/2021 21:03

Have u taken the test yet

LMNOPEE · 22/01/2021 21:05

I don't have one. I was supposed to get one today but supermarket didn't have any. Asked DH to get one and he forgot.

Like I said, I will go tomorrow morning to get one if needed.

I'd be sending him back out to get one now. Surely he must understand how stressed this is making you and doing a test is the only way to either relieve that stress or allow you plenty of time to start planning your next steps.
LMNOPEE · 22/01/2021 21:12

He doesn't drive, there's nowhere local that sells them, I went to the local supermarket today and they were out. The chemist is the next place and I know they aren't open at 9pm.
To be fair to him he had a very stressful day and just wanted to get home after a LONG shift.

Fingers crossed for you op. Periods can be weird for many reasons.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 22/01/2021 21:34

True fool but I am hoping very few cases of both failing! Keeping everything crossed for you OP.
