Getting pregnant after vasectomy doesn't really happen to people, right?

Snip was years ago. Like 8 years.

Am a week late. Cramps and sore boobs for 7 days now but no bloody AF.
Am starting to get concerned Hmm but it's just one of those stories from friends of friends isn't it??

The chances are soooo slim; and more of a chance in the first year after....

AngelDelightUK · 20/01/2021 22:09

Have you told your DH you’re concerned?

LMNOPEE · 20/01/2021 22:09

I live in a perpetual state of stress. This month has probably been the least stressful one in about 5 months in all honesty now that Christmas is out of the way.

Oh gosh OP, try to stay calm. Like someone else said the worrying about it is probably delaying your period more.

LMNOPEE · 20/01/2021 22:10

No. I haven't told him. I don't see the point until I know.

Happened to my husbands cousin. Do a test, get it over and done with, then you will know either way

WalkingOnStarshine · 20/01/2021 23:02

No snip involved here, but my last period was about 9 days late. I'm always bang on time and I was getting all the pregnancy symptoms, I was totally convinced. But I took a test after a week which was negative and two days later my period appeared. Hopefully yours turns up soon! A test is a good idea, at least you'll know either way.

whereismormonjesus · 20/01/2021 23:09

I’ve only heard of it happening once, through the telly. There was a case on Paternity Court (it’s basically Judge Judy but for paternity issues). It was a married couple. The husband had had the snip years prior and was convinced it wasn't his. The woman didn’t recall sleeping with anybody else but had been drinking excessively around the time she conceived so became convinced she must have shagged another man and not remembered. DNA proved it was the husbands.

It’s way way way more likely just stress though OP. The pandemic has buggered up my period, I’ve had 3 pregnancy scares.

Dc4 is a post snip baby. Was something of a shock. Tested as late and had my previous pregnancy symptoms. Never expected it to come up positive, thought it was in my head. Tests later showed it hadn’t been successful a year after the procedure, despite samples saying the opposite. Doubtful op but test to make sure.

maggienolia · 21/01/2021 08:31

It happened to a friend of my DFs 20 years after the operation.

To say everyone was surprised was an understatement - but yes he was firing live ammunition again!
They were already grandparents by then.

Flippyferloppy · 21/01/2021 08:35

Did he get the tests afterwards or did he skip them? Friends of mine had a baby after he'd had the snip. He had skipped his tests, which would have shown it hadn't worked properly.

Enko · 21/01/2021 08:35

Also know a post vasectomy baby. In this case he had remarried and new wife had no children but accepted she would have any. Pregnancy was not discovered until 6 months in dna testing involved however now a very loved child

LMNOPEE · 21/01/2021 08:52

I think he got the test. It was such a long time ago. But I had 4 kids in 6 years before it so if it had failed from the start I can't imagine we would have made it 8 years without a pregnancy.

Was lay in bed last night with cramps and was sure it was on way. Strangely was getting sort of ovulation pain too.

Nothing still.

Am holding off ordering a test as I really feel like it's about to start but felt like that for about 10 days now

WineInTheWillows · 21/01/2021 13:55

I'd just get the test, OP. Get rid of the doubt. And if your period comes in the interim, you've wasted a couple of quid- it's not the end of the world, is it?

LMNOPEE · 21/01/2021 14:39

Got spotting 😁 phew

👍

All's well that ends well.

IrishCream123 · 21/01/2021 14:41

If it was me I would have taken a test already. This thread is quite frightening for us ladies who’s partners had a vasectomy over 15 year ago like my husband 👀

BentBastard · 21/01/2021 14:46

Rather a timely thread as I am now 4 days late and I am seriously never late. Husband had snip about 8 years ago.

I'm sure as can be I'm not pregnant but, like you OP, that little niggle of fear will stay until I get my period.

I'm fourth bloody five with a pair of teens. Last thing I need right now is a baby!

LMNOPEE · 22/01/2021 10:33

Well yesterday when I wiped there was a pink tinge so I thought I'd started but still nothing.

Am going out today so will get a test.
