SO ANGRY WITH TESCO!

I had a delivery slot booked last night. Waited and waited, it didn't turn up. I called Tesco and they said that the driver attempted delivery and there was no answer -thats a lie!
So they have refunded me.
I had no call or message from the driver.
So after complaining, I'll get a £5 goodwill gesture. I'm absolutely fuming!

These things happen. Best not to get too angry and just move on.

princessandthedragon · 16/01/2021 13:13

I’d be angry too. If you have a family to feed and don’t want to go into a shop to avoid catching COVID. It’s the lying that would bother me the most. Their mistake so they need to put it right. Thanks for the heads up Op I won’t bother ordering a home delivery from Tesco now if that’s their attitude.

@Elderflower14

Thursday night just gone I had a Morrisons delivery booked for between 9 and 10... at 7pm I rang Customer Services as I hadn't had an email...She rang the store and apparently they said they were short of vans and would deliver on Friday... All very good but my Mum is 84. I didn't want them coming when I was at work. Half an hour later I get an email and text saying they are delivering. I rang CS again who rang store. Yes there were coming to deliver at 11pm....Errrr no they weren't as I would be in bed and asleep then as I have to be up for work at 5. 45am. CS rang store to rearrange for tomorrow... 9.50pm.....Doorbell goes.. Delivery is there!!! Had to send 2 bags of flour, a boxes of cakes and a packet of bread mix back as it was all soaking wet! Thanks Morrisons!!! 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡
This is a bit of an unfair reaction. Your delivery as booked could have arrived at 10pm. They offered to deliver it only an hour later, it wasn’t that unreasonable to think that you might possibly not yet be fast asleep. With so many people WFH and told not to go to work it is no longer unreasonable for a delivery company to assume that you might be in during the day. In the end your delivery came during the slot you had originally booked. So a few things had got a bit wet- the weather is terrible and someone probably rushed your stuff out to the van at the last minute when they realised that your order had been missed off the original round schedule.

@Megan2018

We fleetingly went to Tesco recently when Ocado changed to M&S. They did the same thing to us, blatant lie. Claimed they knocked on the door and no answer. We have electric gates and cameras-no-one can knock on our front door without being let in and seen on camera. The camera on the gate picks up the entire approach road. They never came to the road, let alone the gate and front door.

We live rurally and it was a very late slot, expect they ran out of time and couldn’t be arsed. We went back to Ocado pronto-I’d rather have shit M&S food that turns up in a pandemic Hmm

I live on an unmarked country Lane, house under a bush, no street lights, and I have to do gardening in the front garden if I’m expecting a delivery, so I can see them coming. No vehicles come our way normally. I’ve had drivers saying they couldn’t get down the Lane because of low branches, Lane too narrow, sheer drop edge or ditches... yeah we’re very rural. Best I go and get things myself, but sometimes you have to have things delivered.

Tell Tesco’s you need a better service from them.

Witchend · 16/01/2021 13:37

I don't even know how that is possible when GPS takes you to the right place, but it happens.

GPS for my house takes you down a different road and no where near our house. It is strictly speaking as near to the centre of our road as possible, just happens to be nowhere near us.
If I'm expecting something important now I'll stand outside and run after the van waving my arms. That seems to work far better than any other method. Grin

vanillandhoney · 16/01/2021 13:39

@bluecheesefan

It isn't TESCO you need to be angry with, it is the DELIVERY DRIVER.

hth

Wrong. The company is responsible for the employees, and also for arranging a redelivery in situations like this.

HTH.

gg12346 · 16/01/2021 13:41

Same thing happened with me .Its so annoying specially when you have to wait so much these days for your slot and then you are also waiting for your delivery and then you find this .

@Persianparadise

My friends just back from Tesco and she says it’s a nightmare. Families of 6 doing shopping, kids running around picking things up and putting back. People arguing at the checkouts. I’m thinking this is where it’s spreading most.
Yet I went to Sainsbury’s at 12.30 on Thursday and it was eerily quiet. The car park was 75% empty, there were no queues at the checkout and I barely saw a soul in there. It was the least stressful shop I’ve ever done, let alone since March.

Our local Tesco has a traffic light system on the door which forcibly limits the amount of people allowed in at once. Someone is on the door with sanitiser to clean trolleys too. The one-way-system isn't really enforced anymore but with less people in the shop, it's not really a big issue. No mask, no entry is also enforced unless you're exempt.

My point is, every single shop is different and much of what you see will be down to management of that store. Your friend might have had a nightmare but ours has been very well run (and very quiet due to limits on numbers) since March.

It's pretty hard not be angry when your whole shop doesn't turn up imo

Presumably the OP is having it delivered for a reason, how is she going to get food for the week?

Kazzyhoward · 16/01/2021 15:18

When it comes to mistakes, it's not the mistake itself that is the problem, it's how the mistake is rectified. Tesco drivers, like all the others can, and do, make mistakes, that's life. But if Tesco's response is a derisory £5 voucher, that's completely unacceptable. They should be doing all they can to get the order to the OP as soon as possible, not throw them back on the mercy of the online slot system to make their own arrangements in a few days' time.

Elderflower14 · 16/01/2021 15:19

@CheetasonFajitas It was the miscommunication between the CS and the store that I found annoying. I still think 11pm is very late to deliver.

purplebagladylovesgin · 16/01/2021 18:44

We had a supermarket (Asda) phone to say the delivery van had a fault and couldn't deliver. They refunded our entire order but said we could pop in to click and collect to pick it up.

So I ended up with a free shop but a safe collection as they put the entire shop straight into my boot for me.

I'd be asking if Tesco could either redeliver your order or make it available for collection.

Fayelina · 17/01/2021 17:29

We had a delivery not turn up from Asda 2 weeks ago, they didn’t contact us and I called 3 times to find out if it was coming and each time was cut off. Was so annoyed. It was the total lack of customer services which annoyed me the most, totally rude lady who did nothing to help or even explain what had happened. Problem with the evening deliveries.

NowWhatUsernameShallIHave · 17/01/2021 17:33

My delivery was supposed to be between 7-8.30pm
Waiting then at 8.45 I got a text apologising that the driver was running later and he would deliver between 2pm and 11.05.
There was no answer from customer services and he never showed up.
I called CS the next day and they said they don’t even deliver at that time

Brandnewcovidday · 17/01/2021 17:34

Sounds like a mix up.

Morrison’s and Sainsburys deliveries are great.

DagenhamRoundhouse · 17/01/2021 17:47

Try Ocado! More reliable.

midlifeangst · 17/01/2021 17:52

Maybe somebody needed the
Slot more than you. If you are able go click and collect, if you’re not then use delivery.

Tessabelle1 · 17/01/2021 17:59

Any similar addresses near you? We live in X Close, one village and regularly get drivers phoning from x Close, other village saying they're outside and getting no answer

DoveOfPiss · 17/01/2021 18:09

These posts are filling me with dread and a little anxiety.
I have a Sainsbury's delivery booked for 9-10pm tonight Shock
Fingers crossed. They seem to be one of the better of the delivery supermarkets.

yvanka · 17/01/2021 18:16

They did the same to me, so annoying. I was sat in the living room, could see outside from my chair and somehow missed the delivery? Don't think so!

roxanne119 · 17/01/2021 18:17

Wow I’d just put them in the street and shoot them !! Get real is there a chance you were in the back of the house when they knocked . Is there a chance your address is difficult to find . Is there a chance they are just human like anyone else . I personally have no affiliation with Tesco’s and yes in the 850 deliveries I’ve had with them they have at times cocked up massively but they have given you the delivery charge back what do you want blood 😳😮

Lucyk1 · 17/01/2021 18:35

Just had this with Tesco as well. They never turned up.... We rang customer service and were told they couldn't find our house, and would return in the morning. Morning came, delivery driver phoned and said that half the food shop was missing but he didn't know what... Was rude, asked if we were home as he was 10mioes away and I was his only customer my way and he didn't want to waste his time if no one home.
Still waiting for customer service to respond with why we got no phone call or message from delivery driver asking for where our house is... Why 50.00 of my shopping was missing. No explanation and no goodwill. That was a week ago.

Yespresh · 17/01/2021 18:46

They completely screwed up my Christmas order on 22nd December delivery. I am high risk so not leaving the house. They still havent replied to my Facebook message complaints. Stuff I ordered disappeared out of my basket, no out of stock - just disappeared.
