SO ANGRY WITH TESCO!

I had a delivery slot booked last night. Waited and waited, it didn't turn up. I called Tesco and they said that the driver attempted delivery and there was no answer -thats a lie!
So they have refunded me.
I had no call or message from the driver.
So after complaining, I'll get a £5 goodwill gesture. I'm absolutely fuming!

@midlifeangst

Maybe somebody needed the Slot more than you. If you are able go click and collect, if you’re not then use delivery.
Wtf! And how would tesco have any idea at all if one person was more ‘deserving’ than the OP? For what they know she might have been self isolating due to covid and unable to go out at all to any shop!

A couple of times my driver as called to ask if he can deliver early, never had a missed delivery (touch wood)

SaltyTootsieToes · 17/01/2021 19:40

For me personally, my house - have been fabulous. Have my loyalty ever since I was injured and had various surgeries that made it very slow for me to get to the door and difficult to put things away. Driver put note on my delivery about it and thereafter they brought my food into my kitchen snd out freezer stuff away.

However, I ordered for my DD to her student housing and had lots of trouble. I complained and received £20 vouchers and they did make it right. This was pre covid so not sure how strapped they are for time these days with so many deliveries.

Had crap experience with Wey Couriers this week. Lies, lies, lies and my house had no issues with gps, isn’t down a late or out of the way place so I do understand that some individual drivers can be crappy at their job.

Recently my order didn't show (9pm slot) & they said it had been declined and someone called me about but it was 'ringing out' & an email had been sent. No they didn't, and no they hadn't. I went bonkers. £5 voucher... After many calls it turned out my payment card (a Tesco card) had expired over night and rendered it invalid!? Nothing on the system alerted me. It was during lockdown and just before Xmas, order was cancelled and I had to make do with an 11-12pm slot 4 days later. Attitude from them was shocking. No help, just a lot of "Unfortunately... "

MummyMayo1988 · 17/01/2021 20:26

I was with Teco for a few weeks and switched.
One driver asked me if my mum was home when I answered the door. Totally confused I said no, then realised what he meant. I was 30 at the time!
Another wouldn't let me have my bottle of wine with £100 worth of groceries bc I didn't have ID (DH had accidentally taken it to work)
Third literally abused me at my own front door for not knowing my "real" address. He couldn't find it right away and was convinced I'd written the wrong address. Tried to explain the (admittedly confusing) layout of our street but he qas having none of it and demanded it change it at once. He was very aggressive.
I was totally shaken and my DH was fine when he got home. Their customer service was good about it and apparently I had been one of a long list of customers that had complained about this particular driver.

I'm with Asda now. Much better service. I've been with them for over 2 years and never had a problem.

Witendparent · 17/01/2021 21:45

Could I suggest that you tell them that your brother, Martin Lewis the financial expert from radio and tv, being your brother is going to do an expose on them, have they any comment, worth a try! I hate the liars, they did this to my 92 yr old mil.

angelfacecuti75 · 17/01/2021 21:54

I have only had trouble with tesco a couple of times but millions of times with asda due to the fact we live in a flat fair enough delivery drivers have back problems and are human too but if you'd called me beforehand I'd happily come down and get it from the door , but they've taken my money at a time when I didn't have a lot of money then taken a week to refund it leaving me without food and without money so quite unfair . I know banks take 3 to 7 days to refund but when u have £70 to last a week and you spend £40 on food and then they leave you without it is very inconvenient and unfair. I didn't have it once or twice, I had it at least 5 or 6 times (probably more like 8) , whereas tesco have only done it once or twice ,happily bring it upstairs and are more reliable hands down . Iceland are good to but don't have any gf stuff which is an issue for me .

angelfacecuti75 · 17/01/2021 21:55

So I simply refuse to order from asda. £5 doesn't seem like a lot for some inconvenience that losing a shop will cause .

RMRM · 17/01/2021 21:57

^Tesco do delete things from your basket if they say they are out of stock. It's really annoying if you don't realise.

Rosebel · 17/01/2021 22:14

Delivery slots are full, where is any driver meant to find time to do an extra delivery? If they override the system that means someone else doesn't get their shopping.
I understand you being annoyed but so angry? Really?
Why can't you accept they went to the wrong house so no one has lied?
Supermarkets are a horrible place to work and delivery drivers are under a lot of pressure. It wouldn't hurt people to try and be a bit more understanding.

PenelopeW · 17/01/2021 22:45

You have to remember that was one Tesco driver not the whole of Tesco. They have done all they can to rectify it. I've had the on demand delivery for about 6 years now and find them super-reliable and love all the time home deliveries saves me. They've been an absolute rock during lockdown, I have to say.

LeahWarburton · 17/01/2021 22:51

@Shehasadiamondinthesky

I find delivery people knock quietly so as not to disturb you. Even though I have a laminated sign next to my working doorbell that says please ring the bell.
Which rather defeats the point of knocking, surely. they need to knock loudly enough to be heard almost anywhere in the house.
PeterPeterson · 17/01/2021 22:55

We had similar a few months back, Saturday evening delivery with Asda, due between 8 & 9. At 7pm I get a text to say sorry your order has been cancelled. I call their customer services but they can't tell me why and offer me £10 as a goodwill gesture. At the time we had a 12 day old baby and I was still in a lot of pain from the birth, had to go out the next morning and do a shop because we didn't have enough in to last until the next delivery slot I could get.
It took them a whole week to refund our shopping, I was absolutely fuming with them but like a mug, I still use them now because they are the cheapest and whilst on maternity leave we're on a strict budget.

I’m a tesco delivery driver - it is really easy to get the wrong address and it sounds like your driver must’ve knocked somewhere that wasn’t your address - it’s easily done - the handsets bring you within about 100 yards of the property but not to the actual house - I use my iPhone for accuracy. They would’ve put a card through the door of the address that the handset took them to and would not necessarily have rung. I’ve only got to one address and no one was in but did ring them and on second attempt got a reply - I was at the wrong address. Not delivering the shopping because they can’t be bothered isn’t something that drivers do generally - we are paid if we are late back and having to offload the whole shop and return to the store is more hassle than just delivering it to the correct address. I always go out of my way to make sure my orders get to the property after someone has had to take the time to pick and pack it and someone else has had to load it on my van. We do have to return every item to the store and put it back in the correct place if we’ve been unable to deliver it so it would be a lot of hassle
For the driver to not bother delivering it. I actually never realised how difficult some houses were to find until I started this job - driving a 3.5 tonne van is nothing compared to trying to find houses.

Oh hell yes - why the fuck can't they just read the sign and ring the bloody bell! I cannot hear anybody knock and have a sign with an arrow pointing at the bell saying 'Please Ring Doorbell'. They still insist on knocking. Even the postman! Does my head in.
dysongirl · 18/01/2021 04:12

I'm sure the driver did not do it purposely
Stressful time for everybody
I gave my delivery guy a box of celebrations as a thank you.

Flyingskunk · 18/01/2021 08:41

I’ve always found Tesco’s very good. I messed up a couple of weeks ago I had flexible slots booked for me and my MIL when they texted to confirm the slot I got them mixed up so I was out and missed the delivery. I rang was very apologetic and they said they would try and get the driver back out. It was Sun eve and I felt really guilty so was going to give the driver something. Anyway they didn’t come but they did bring it the following morning.

jentinquarantino20 · 18/01/2021 10:35

It’s bang out of order that. Some people can’t leave the house and rely on home deliveries, it’s not a case of being ‘lazy’ but I would take it further, getting a slot these days, you’ve more chance of finding rocking horse
