I am looking for new or old seriel killer drama to watch. My partner thinks I have seen every one going. I don't fancy one with subtitles but have watched some in the past. ( hurts my eyes at the mo) also I prefer ones that are over a few episodes. I dislike super natural dramas. Just watched Equinox and it annoyed me.

Are there any hidden gems I have missed? Off hand I have watched the following?

Chalet
Cardinal
Absentia
Inspector montelbano
Innocent
The killing
Guilt
Marcella
Blue murder
The missing
The fall
Vera
Dark forest
Blood and water
Rush

The alienist
Bordertown
The dark
La mante
Bosch

Baptiste
The missing
The bay
Cheat
The widow
Ultra violet
Carlo and mark
Quicksand
The victim
Spiral
The shield
Beecham house
Foyles war
Maigret
Hinterland you
Spiral
Keeping faith
What remains
Osmosis
Crimson rivers
Instinct
Sharp objects
Mentalist
Mindhunter
Justified
Follow the monkey

Confession
Dead water fell
Hidden
Blood
Silent witness
Wire in the blood
Luther
Trial and retribution
All harlen coben remakes

Apple TV, I think you can get a week free trial if you haven't got it. Iirc it was about 6-8 episodes.

Coffeandteav · 12/01/2021 17:55

@Covine

Have you seen The Dublin Murders?

It is very atmospheric, good dialogue, some tropes we've all seen before but the last two episodes are superb. Really very good telly.

Oh, and River, from ages ago, just the one standalone series. Really strange and unsettling premise and the two lead actors are outstanding - Stellen Skarsgaard (sp?) and Nicola wossname from that Suits drama about divorce lawyers. (River is not about divorce or lawyers ... )

I really liked River but was a few years ago. So may watch again. I may watch a lot again as I have probably forgotten.

Truth looks good will add to the list.

I don't think I have seen The Undoing mentioned, it was on very recently on Sky

Hels20 · 12/01/2021 18:36

If you have BritBox - Susannah Reid’s programmes on Becky Watts, Pembrokeshire murders.

What about Band of Gold (from the 90s), or Cracker? At the start of lockdown no 1 I binge watched all of Spooks.

Hels20 · 12/01/2021 18:37

And Marcella?

splishsplashsploosh · 12/01/2021 18:40

Killing Eve

MossandRoy · 12/01/2021 18:46

The Sinner. Netflix I think.

Hels20 · 12/01/2021 18:55

Also The Moorside (Karen Matthews story with Sheridan Smith); Rillington Place (with Samantha Morton) and little boy blue (about murder of Rhys Daniels). Also Longford - with Samantha Morton and Jim Broadbent. Also the one with Emily Watson - Appropriate Adult or something - about the West murders.

I agree that the first episode of the wire was extremely disjointed. I didn't know who anybody was or what they were saying to each other.

Subtitles. It's a game changer
MrsJBaptiste · 12/01/2021 19:36

Thanks for the comments about The Wire - I'll try another episode or two...

@Coffeandteav How do you have the time to watch so much TV? 😮

feelingsadtoday2021 · 12/01/2021 19:49

I loved river !

I loved the first ep with the reveal but then got bored. Might try again.

Unforgotten

Hels20 · 12/01/2021 19:55

Oh yes - third “Unbelievable”. Almost gave up after Episode 1 but so pleased I stuck with it. Merrit Deaver who played the other cop to Toni Collete - I found mesmerising....,

Still think Prime Suspect was one of the best police series ever made. And of course Line Of Duty!!

coffeeandteav · 12/01/2021 20:03

Prime suspect was amazing and so was trial and retribution.

Time? Well its been years as a time scale. Not recently. I like to watch as my downtime as I get immersed into it and forget other stresses.

Watching Pem Murders at 9. Good so far.

I am finding it hard to stream some suggestions. Will try you tube as suggested.

Thanks everyone for all of their suggestions.

coffeeandteav · 12/01/2021 20:04

Ahhh thought had found something in my search of all of your suggestions. The sandham murders but its subtitles. Gah!

Watched the Mire and Signs to both okish.

Yes good too!

NBC Hannibal series from a few years ago. SO good and probably the most beautifully shot series ever, imo.

AlfieandAnnieRose · 12/01/2021 20:34

Just started watching the prodigal son on sky. can’t remember which channel we watched it on as we have now tv. So far it’s really good. A drama about the son of a serial killer (played by Michael sheen) and how he solves crimes.

Enjoyed that too. Gory but not gritty. Very American.

Maybe I do watch too much tele.

NatashaAlianovaRomanova · 12/01/2021 20:48

If you're ok with subtitles or speak fluent Flemish I highly recommend Code 37 - more sex crimes than serial killer but very good
