Strange bookmark found in a book.

Sitting here waiting for the man to repair my heating and I thought I’d start a new book. It’s an out of print one from the 1970s that I’d been searching for ages. I picked it up and flipped through to find a rather surprising bookmark. I’ll post it a bit later just to keep you all guessing. 😀

I wonder though, have you ever flipped through a book and found something odd, surprising, intriguing or unexpected? I would love to hear about it. 🙂

20 years ago I wrote my bf (now dh) an absolutely filthy, graphic letter about what we were going to do to eachother next time we met up (long distance relationship). He put it safely in a book. 3 house moves later and he's no idea where that books ended up. I feel panicky every time I think about it!

On an old forum of rocking horse owners, a list of things found in antique horses was quite fascinating.

Horses have pommel holes that lead into a hollow box, and stuff can be pulled out with a grappler tool.

The strangest was a 19th Cent Syphilis syringe in pewter{?} designed to go into the 'Eye' of the male member...

Found by an American woman in an English horse.

A passport picture of a child from the local school fell out of a library book, was very funny seeing him fluttering to the floor.

I've not read all of the thread yet, so @draughtycatflap has almost certainly given the answer but looking back at the first ten guesses and the second clue "raunchy", I'm going for a nuddy photo of Princess Margaret.

No the letter was in English, and was quiet sad as she was leaving him at the airport but she hoped one day they would be together again even if it didnt seem possible right now. I wish i kept it and tried to find the owner.

I bought a vintage girls annual from the 80s,and there was a vintage bogey included on one of the pages 🤮

I once found the receipt for the book inside - bought on a bank holiday weekend when my then boyfriend told me he was working, bought in a town (far away) where his ex lived. 20 years of ups and downs and cheating ended after that discovery!

We went to the house to see if we could trace owners or any link to the letter, but just drew a dead end☹️
