How to you "visualise" a year?

I was talking to dh about how I picture a year in my mind, and he doesn't do this. His year is just one month after another in a straight line.
Mine is a circle (I'll try and attach a picture)

The whole bottom edge is the summer holidays and the top Christmas. It's completely disproportionate to the timescale! I've always viewed my years in my minds eye like this.

Anyone else?

Another whose is just like yours, OP.

It's quite odd to see it written down by someone else!

If I see a clockwise version or a version that has June (as it is properly) opposite December it gives me a horrible head jam feeling.

My days of the week don't fit the same chart at all, though. They're in a line going left to right, starting on Monday.

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 02/01/2021 20:44

Ooh like a hopscotch is a good description of mine, the past kind of going off in the distance to my right and the future off behind to my left I'm roughly standing at the current month, usually looking backwards - same for weeks.
It's odd though, thinking about trying to describe it is like trying to remember a dream - the more i attempt to describe it literallyy, it shifts & changes & disappears. But then I think about the coming year and there it is again, all ready to go stretching out to my left & behind me.

Cindy87 · 02/01/2021 20:46

Straight line, like a column, January at the top, December at the bottom.

@ilikefemalesnow

Anyone else not understand a word of this thread?
Sorry!! And to everyone else who simply thinks we're weird Grin

On the subject of days of the week, I'm going to have to do another drawing!

Glass steps in space with slightly clouded steps for weekends

DramaAlpaca · 02/01/2021 20:52

Mine is a vertical line with January at the top and December at the bottom.

The background is white like a piece of paper and the words are written in capital letters in black ink.

Days of the week are also black capitals on white, but the line goes horizontally left to right across the page.

And yes, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are even days, Tuesdays and Thursdays are odd. For definite Grin

BabyLlamaZen · 02/01/2021 20:54

Same as me except I'm somehow always shocked once January hits and I realise how close the next few months are. My circle is slightly shifted right though.

WankPuffins · 02/01/2021 20:56

In coloured blocks.

Jan to March yellow

April - July red

August blue

Sept to dec red

All separate.

Fuck I'm odd.

Eminybob · 02/01/2021 20:56

Not a very good drawing but hope you get the idea. Like a tear drop shape, December being the sharp end and august running along the top (Also longer than the other months like some pp)

The R should have been an A sorry

WankPuffins · 02/01/2021 20:57

Yes!! Oh. God. My people.

blueshoes · 02/01/2021 20:57

I don't visualise it. I have a bad sense of time.

Trumplosttheelection · 02/01/2021 20:59

The year and the week are anti clockwise for me too

Eminybob · 02/01/2021 21:00

I think days of the week are just in a straight line, but the weekend days are a different colour.

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 02/01/2021 21:00

DD (11) says she sees the months as groups of three in lines on top of each other! 😳

DS (10) has no idea what I'm on about!

Crapbuttrue · 02/01/2021 21:00

@BuffaloCauliflower Me too sometimes. But generally I stand where September is with January away to my left and the summer up and round to my left.....

Trumplosttheelection · 02/01/2021 21:01

What's really interesting is that dd1 learnt about synesthesia at school and came home and told me about it. Hers is v similar to mine but we had never discussed it. Dh doesn't have it at all. It seems to be inheritable?

PivotPivotPivottt · 02/01/2021 21:04

Monday Wednesday Friday and Sunday are even days
Tuesday Thursday Saturday are odd days
All vowels are odd and all consonants are even.

whatisheupto · 02/01/2021 21:05

Oh wow. This thread is fascinating to me!
I see the months as a simple list, vertical line, Jan at the top and Dec at the bottom. It has genuinely surprised me that anyone would see it any other way. Although now I see that was ignorant of me!

HeronLanyon · 02/01/2021 21:06

As a kid I once came home on a train (about 11 stops) and started to say x station is definitely blue. My mum and I then wrote down the line (we knew it well) station by station with out colours. There was only one we saw as a different colour ! Inheritance makes sense to me but didn’t know it might be a thing.
I agree with pp in that m w and f are spikey and tues and Thursday in softer focus.
I am fixed by all of this anti clockwise stuff. Is this for an upcoming year ? The future year is any clockwise ??

HeronLanyon · 02/01/2021 21:07

Foxed not fixed.

PivotPivotPivottt · 02/01/2021 21:08

Sorry that should have been some constants are even. Others are odd.

PixellatedPixie · 02/01/2021 21:08

Mine goes in a kind of wave with August where I am (probably as I’m born in August) and the other months to my left and right.

How do you visualise the days of the week and do you see them in specific colours?

EscapeTheCastle · 02/01/2021 21:08

I love this topic!

I see it in neat squares Jan to Aug running from left to right then a new line starts below August running ahead again from left to right September to December.

PixellatedPixie · 02/01/2021 21:12

Meant to add that I always see Monday as blue obviously due to the pop culture link, Tuesday is orange, Wednesday is green, Thursday purple, Friday red, Saturday black and Sunday white. So odd!
