We order a Serrano ham every year, every year DS from the age of twelve now nineteen manfully takes on the task of decimating it, last week for probably the first time in a long while his anxiety over Covid and everything started to bubble up, he was really twitchy as to whether Tesco would deliver the Serrano ham, ( it really wasn't about the ham, I can see that now)

We agreed that we would try and order a second one and if the first one arrived we would cancel the second one, the first one arrived yesterday, straight on to the Tesco website to cancel the second one. Computer says no......

We are in tier two but living as though we were in tier four as I am CEV, we have been nowhere, done nothing and whilst the extra spend is annoying in the extreme, it is not the end of the world.

Looks like Serrano ham for Easter as well. Grin

The asda winter scented loo roll i bought isn't as nice as the one i normally buy
No Christmassy bum for you then!

lakesidexmas · 23/12/2020 03:12

I live somewhere that should be cold and snowing.
It isn't, it is mild and wet.
I might as well still be in the UK!

nachthexe · 23/12/2020 03:39

We had 23 inches of snow overnight.
And I accidentally saw my Christmas present from dh in dd1’s bedroom.
And may I just say - thank feck that chocolate covered stollen is MIA. I have two in the pantry and marzipan is the one true path. 😂
The snow is quite lovely. But dd2’s gifts that were carefully ordered six weeks ago are somewhere east of bumblefuck Ohio and the post is definitely not going to save me.Santa apparently doesn’t do winter storms.

@Dontsayyouloveme

My favourite ice cream gives me heartburn!
This sucks. My sincere condolences.
FleeceNavidadToEwe · 23/12/2020 06:33

Bought a lovely big gammon in Lidl, and forgot about the pre-ordered naice ham in my Tesco order. So that's a kilo of ham per person Blush

Skipsurvey · 23/12/2020 06:35

i have no brazil nuts
the cheese board was imo over priced when if bought individually i am sure would have been cheaper

isthismylifenow · 23/12/2020 06:46

My brother and wife will be joining us for Christmas lunch (not in UK btw) and she offered to bring dessert.

I now find out she's bought the ingredients to make trifle. Neither of my DC or I like trifle and dd is lactose intolerant (it is general knowledge so not a new thing). Now I have to arrange another dessert and I thought I was done with all my planning /arranging and especially shopping.

My sil has been very ill so the fact she is making dessert is quite a big thing, so I really really can't say oh but we dont/can't eat that. So I will just have a 'handy backup' that I happened to have in.

Mommabear20 · 23/12/2020 06:51

Being early stages of pregnant for the second Christmas in a row 😂🤦‍♀️
Don't get me wrong, we're beyond thrilled with our DD and new little bundle that's cooking, but morning sickness certainly takes out the fun of demolishing Christmas dinner! 😂

isthismylifenow · 23/12/2020 06:53

@geogteach

Realised today there are only 3 dishwasher tablets left...
Cut them in half and then you'll have 6 😊

Waitrose didn’t deliver the passion fruits for the porn star martinis ! True first world problem!
I share your pain, can't go to Waitrose as we're t4 & they're t2 & neither farm shop nor Tesco had any yesterday. Also slightly nervous the passion fruit purée may not arrive in time. We have some but not nearly enough to last the pandemic through Christmas.

I ordered a case of wine in November and have plenty left.

We got sent a case of wine yesterday as a present. DH had ordered a case earlier in the year and forgot to cancel follow on order, a case was delivered yesterday .

I have no where to put 24 bottles of wine ! ( we only drink about a bottle a week)

Gizlotsmum · 23/12/2020 07:06

As we weren’t going to be home I left all the Christmas dining bits in the loft... now need to get them down either on my own (high likelihood of breakages occurring) or persuade grinch DH they are essential to Christmas! Also twitched on the kids presents and have 2 last minute additions hopefully coming in time...

Gizlotsmum · 23/12/2020 07:07

Oh and I still haven’t watched any of my usual pre Christmas films yet!! All very first world problems I know...

Hopeforhappiertimesahead · 23/12/2020 07:25

Off out this morning as had a panic of maybe wine running out (due to shortages, read it somewhere) so my list is copious amounts of wine, 2 croissants and a tub of twiglets, then I am done

marriednotdead · 23/12/2020 07:50

Only 3 of us this year. DP eats whatever I put in front of him except turkey. Adult DS not quite as unfussy and bolts his food (he’s got ASD)
I struggle to concentrate or make decisions some days (fibromyalgia) so I am going shopping today with genuinely no idea what we will be having for Christmas dinner.
For context, DP had soup one year. Told them they’d get spag bol if they didn’t help me decide, they both shrugged 🤦🏽‍♀️

Whatsetshortfor · 23/12/2020 07:55

I can’t find any Charbonnel et Walker hot chocolate for our Christmas Eve bicerin. Anyone got any good hot chocolate recommendations?

My daughter is having chicken burger with all the roast trimmings... she doesn’t like cooked ham, will try but probably won’t like my vegan main, but loves all the rest. My son will have the ham and mash some veg but nothing else, my husband will miss his mum’s beef Wellington (found out Sat we can’t go down) so will have ham and all the trimmings... it is what it is... my son would love Spag Bol for Christmas dinner :)
AnnaSW1 · 23/12/2020 08:20

I can't find a dark chocolate orange for my partners xmas stocking. He always has one.

PandemicPavolova · 23/12/2020 08:24

I ❤️ brie de Meaux, so you reckon op, the other one is better?

My 1st World problem is, what to have for desert, Xmas day.

Make a pavlova? Buy one in?

Themarvellousmrsm · 23/12/2020 08:28

This doesn’t seem like a problem to me...

Hopeforhappiertimesahead · 23/12/2020 11:23

Well that was fun...... wine in Lidl (they have some excellent ones) all in stock.....very quiet, nice to take my time staff as ever very jolly........wine in Aldi (not se good) none in stock....horrible and packed, messy dirty........Asda wine (some good offers 2 bottles Mud for £12 etc) some offers not being honored even though on the website, packed but got what I needed and some wrapping paper for 20p from £1.50....oh and the 2 bottles for £20 spirits virtually all gone

......and the Twiglets and 2 croissants! Yeah all done

CrimsonCattery · 23/12/2020 11:35

My tree is looking very scruffy as the kittens keep climbing and eating it. Baubles all over the place. They also delight in knocking cards over and I can't put presents under the tree lest they get chewed to death.

The pudding I made for the early Xmas dinner we had last weekend was so rich no one could finish a whole slice!

I normally don't send cards but got one yesterday from a friend who has had a shocking year so felt obliged to send one back. Had to trek out to the postbox before 9am this morning and it pissed it down.

I am now offically out of all my spirits and only have (lots of) wine in.

sueelleker · 23/12/2020 12:50

@BrieAndChilli

I couldnt get any satsumas. I do not want Clementines Easy peelers Tangerines

I want proper satsumas!!

Got some Waitrose Essentials ones the other day.
sueelleker · 23/12/2020 12:54

@FeckTheMagicDragon

I’m making a Christmas pudding (6 weeks late) but I’ve drank all the port. Can I just put twice as much brandy in?
I always make mine with brandy.
