Used to work in customer services. Three surnames have never left my brain:
Mrs Wildgoose
Mr Gotobed
Mr and Mrs D’eath.

Please share the weird and wonderful surnames you own or have heard. Apologies if your surname is one I’ve listed.

I knew someone called Patricia who was usually known as Pat. She married someone whose surname was Mycock and very quickly insisted that she be Patricia from them on.

Other surnames:
Uren
Tickles, problematic when your first name is Tess.

I was born a Cock...changed my name by deed poll at 16. When I went to uni there was a girl on my course whose family name had been Tit, although her parents had changed it before she was born.

Reading this thread I think we both got off quite lightly!

I work in customer service

We have a Miss Didcock

Also have a Mrs Christmas

I know a Dr De'ath. But he's an academic rather than a medical doctor. Could imagine that would be disconcerting.

And everybody's favourite dinner lady at my infant school was a Mrs Onions. Grin

When I worked in mortgages I had to amend someone's name after they got married. She went from Miss Thick to Mrs Smart

@ThisIsNotARealAvo if you went to SS I know Alan very well. He's unfortunately in a home with dementia.

Vaguely connected two lovely women I was at school with are now known as Dr. Mistry-Pain (urologist) and Dr. Love.

I once knew a lady who was a dental hygienist and also a chiropodist

Her surname was seegrot - appropriate for both jobs !!

LongDistanceClaret · 10/01/2021 22:07

I knew a Cockshutt once and a Shufflebottom.

StillMedusa · 10/01/2021 23:37

Our local plumber is Pete Crapper and sons... always makes me wonder if he chose his trade to go with his name Grin

My own maiden name was Tough... the jokes were pretty tedious and I was glad to get married for a better name! On the other hand we were easy to find.. there were only 3 Toughs in the local phone directory.. and they were either my Dad or one of his ex wives Grin

SnappedAndFartedInMaui · 11/01/2021 04:03

There's a Dr Dick Beatty in our city. He's a vasectomist! After the procedure he gives the men a stubby holder with the words "I got the snip with Dr Dick" Grin

wirldsgonemad · 11/01/2021 05:59

I met a Dawn Bathroom once and I also had a call come up when I worked in a call centre for Ben Dingwall.
