Iheartmysmart · 21/12/2020 18:55

I’d like to say sixtith which autocorrect keeps changing to sixtieth! Ventured out onto the dark side - remind me not to do that again please. It’s judgmental chaos outside this thread.

NeedWineNow · 21/12/2020 19:03

And me seventh - you lot are the light where outside seems full of gloom.

I'm still laughing at the Alexa question. Me and DH sit opposite sides of the dining table WFH and we didn't dare catch each other's eye all afternoon in case it set us off again 😂😂😂

Blobby10 · 21/12/2020 19:11

I really want an Alexa now just to hear what the answer to the question is!!!! Grin

Latest pick up point for the undercover mission is Hampstead Heath - have requested a little more precision as its bloody massive {grin]. Does anyone know if that are is in the congestion charge zone?

NastyBlouse · 21/12/2020 19:25

@Blobby10 No you should be alright, Hampstead Heath — any part of it — is outside the CC zone (and the ULEZ). Top part of the congestion charge zone runs along the road with Baker Street station and Madame Tussauds I believe.

110APiccadilly · 21/12/2020 19:34

I don't have an Alexa. I do speak Welsh though...Grin

Just google 'carrots one hundred in Welsh' - so many people have it comes up as an option very quickly.

Alexa says it so well though.

BogRollBOGOF · 21/12/2020 19:43

Mentioning Baker Street reminds me of when I was once having a tough time and the song reduced me to tears. It was the lines "one more year and then you'll be happy, just one more year and then you'll be happy, but you're crying, you're crying now"
Brilliant song.
Rather apt for the present.

I've just had the pleasure of a short evening at the pool with both DCs finally on a simulataneous swimming time, unlike the 4pm-5:30 we were stuck with for ages. I can also see them both as they're opposite ends of the large pool. DS1 had a bit of a panic about the change of approach to his lesson, plus dodging the protocol for his class because of DS2 going in. At least he's back to a former teacher that had him for years. That's the most lengths he's done since March which is great. He had built up to 400m in half an hour between school swimming and going in lanes while DS2 swam. We're probably slipping now the weather is against us, but we tried really hard until about October to keep the DCs' stamina and fitness up.

Not sure if this will work but there is a new chart entry at number 19

Just seen a reminder that its perfectly legal to visit someone to give care AND the point made that many people who need care will have cancelled the care workers that usually come to them as they thought they would be staying or seeing family.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 21/12/2020 20:09

My mate just sent me that @Iheartmysmart it's hilarious. Terrible, but hilarious.

Theredjellybean · 21/12/2020 20:24

Hampstead well outside congestion charges...

wanderings · 21/12/2020 20:24

Fighting the good fight on the "would you support another lockdown" thread. I posted a long reply about why it is wrong on so many levels: fifty replies later, nobody telling me I'm mad: although plenty of people baying for nobody leaving their homes, ever.

Excellent!!

🤣

Also, the dreadful dreadfully misjudged NHS Sting cover is limping along at number 89 at the moment, so looks unlikely to trouble the upper end of the chart.

Made me laugh Livin and not much has today to be honest!

Iheartmysmart · 21/12/2020 20:45

Oh that bloody NHS song! One of my friends has a relative who’s an ICU nurse and has been urging us all to download it. No! It’s inappropriate and stuff like that is so cringeworthy! Apparently they’ve changed the lyrics slights which now makes it even more ugh as far as I’m concerned.

Evenstar · 21/12/2020 20:50

We have driven to a motorway services to exchange Christmas presents today, we are Tier 2 and my eldest 3 are in Tier 3 and too far to drive there and back in a day to spend Christmas Day together. It felt very daring crossing Tier 4 on the motorway with the signs telling us to Stay Home. I don’t really know if we broke any rules, but we took Christmas to them, including a big Christmas tree for my eldest and youngest DS’s as they are bubbling together now and they didn’t have one.

It is the first Christmas for 30 years that none of my children have been with me, I only have DSS 17 at home, and my husband had to drive 100 mile round trip yesterday to take my eldest stepson’s gifts to him.

I know my area is going to be Tier 4 soon, we have worse rates than the neighbouring area which is already in Tier 4 😢. As far as I can see the vaccine is a false dawn and we are just as far from returning to any kind of normal life as we were before.

Agree that being able to “talk” on here is a lifesaver. There are people all over my Facebook today posting pictures of soldiers in the trenches in WW1 saying we shouldn’t dare to complain about our Christmas 😡

NannyGythaOgg · 21/12/2020 20:51

It's BSE all over again. We were the only country to admit that we had identified BSE in some cattle therefore getting our beef banned.

There was little doubt it was equally prevalent in Europe but they maintained they didn't have it - and they were not going to test for it to prove it (if I remember correctly)

I think the police have more to worry about than who is going/not going where at Christmas.

Justgivemewine · 21/12/2020 20:56

Oh dear. 😆😆😆

I’ve just looked up the 100 carrots thing and played a sound clip. Yep should’ve known better 😆, it gave dh palpitations and an attack of righteous moral indignation as he jumped on his high horse and exclaimed “there are children in the house!” just as ds1 (15, ASD, so blunt and straight to the point) was coming downstairs and pointed out that “it’s not like you(dh) never swear and the others couldn’t hear it anyway” to which dh told him not to backchat and ds1 replied “why? Because I have a valid point?”

So I’m quietly pmsl at both the clip and dh’s overreaction, because ds1 does have a very valid point, dh does swear but conveniently gets on his moral high horse when someone else does or when it suits him.

Meanwhile we are binge watching the matrix movies, a nice bit of dystopia to distract us from the real shit show.

We saw that picture and both had a big rant.

I remember driving down the motorway after dropping DS at work during Lockdown 2: The Revenge and flicking the Vs at all the road signs asking me if my journey was essential. Then realising there was a police car behind me...

Justgivemewine · 21/12/2020 21:06

Rofl that would be me @Iheartmysmart
