Wanderings I can't face going over there but my response would be, put all those who want to stay home forever in a damp one bedroom flat at the top of a tower block and see how they like it. Bet they would soon change their tune.

Or face the loss of most of their income and their business collapsing.

Iheartmysmart · 21/12/2020 21:16

I was irrationally annoyed by them @Justgivemewine. Bet those “loving lockdown” wouldn’t have liked it quite as much if people like DS hadn’t been going to work in a supermarket making sure they got their home deliveries. So yes, my journey was essential! I’m not sure it’s against the law yet to make rude gestures at inanimate objects. Don’t tell Boris that though.

justasking111 · 21/12/2020 22:39

DS went over to work today binned most of the food, brought some home wanted us to take some but most of it is catering size we would not get through it in a month of Sundays. There is a cloud hanging over my baby you can feel it in his movements and speech a quiet despair, he is not an expressive man keeps his feelings hidden, but you can feel it. I am broken hearted for him. His dreams are dust and trying to get the money Rishi handed over to Drakeford is nigh on impossible the weasels wriggle out of it at every turn the hospitality industry is being cheated, they cannot even get the eat out to help out funds.

MercyBooth · 21/12/2020 23:38

Just posted this on the lock down thread.

Please try to remember that many elderly disabled people will have told the care workers that usually come to their homes that they wernt needed because they were expecting to be with family.
So family will have to do the care even if they dont usually. Another thing not factored in by Boris and Chums

I think I might to withdraw from the rest of mumsnet for a while
Looks like schools are going to close next
I can't do it
I really can't do it again

Wise to withdraw from much of mumsnet, ditto, social media, news channels, etc. they are all eating themselves alive rather like the ouroboros it is distasteful to observe when society reveals itself, at times like this you realise how ignorant many people are. We can all get lost at times, but find our way back. No wonder Cummings had such faith in the nudge theory.

I had a thought; if this new strain really is ultra-infectious, we might be heading for herd immunity quite quickly, like it or not. Given they're not really keeping the lid on the old strain and also significant lockdown fatigue among the public.

MercyBooth · 22/12/2020 01:18

Fatigue is probably helped along by knowing what BASTARDS some ppl can be........................>>>>>>>>>

(not meaning these threads obvs)

I agree.

However, this is now heading for the list of things we cannot say.

New WHO definition of herd immunity here - only achieved by vax

I have seen people share that @MercyBooth
It honestly makes me cringe.

Pleasedontdothat · 22/12/2020 06:43

At least the bell-ringing has a relatively small pool of potential performers - how many people just happen to have a bell at home?

Theredjellybean · 22/12/2020 07:06

@blobby10

I am so sorry... That is crap.
Silly girl
But be proud of your boy for not abandoning her...
I can see the AIBU thread now.. "my bf broke the roolz to see his mother, leaving me alone at Christmas"

Blobby10 · 22/12/2020 07:18

@Theredjellybean yes I am so proud of him for not abandoning her - she’s from Romania so when the media say ‘police will stop you’ she believes it . When she went back home during the first lockdown she had to sign all sorts of papers and consent to her phone being tracked during her quarantine so obv a much harsher regime still than we have here.

wanderings · 22/12/2020 07:20

Morning all.

MN has turned so ugly. It's so sad the number of people who are baying and pleading for their children's futures to be ruined, and salivating over the idea of "proper" lockdown for weeks and months. Sad

LivinLaVidaLoki · 22/12/2020 07:24

I just thought that @wanderings

LivinLaVidaLoki · 22/12/2020 07:27

I keep seeing "doesn't this feel like March"

If by "feels like March" you mean you lot are going fucking hysterical, demanding school closures, lockdown and not giving a shit about anyone but yourselves, then yes it does. Aside from that, no. It doesn't. We have vaccines, treatment and hope this will get better so fuck off.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 22/12/2020 07:30

@justasking111

Just had a peek into a thread about londoners escaping on trains one person keeps replying to those who say they are visiting family to read her CPAP thread, that made me laugh as if they are interested in a dementor thread.
Randomly she's loads better now, after a few days. I'm not saying the experience wouldn't have been awful, it would and I truly feel for her...but "don't do x, you and z or you could end up in hospital for a few days and then recover" isn't exactly the massive deterrent you would think.....

If that were a deterrent, no one would have children.

Sonicthehedgehogg · 22/12/2020 07:40

@Blobby10 The poor girl must be terrified. Good on your boy for looking after her. You've raised a good one there.
