I learned something fascinating

A field nearby has lots of cauliflowers on them ready to be harvested

The other day, we spotted lots of sheep on the field

Thought that the caulis were ruined due to the weather, or the sheep had escaped.

However, we managed to speak to the farmer and no!

The sheep eat the greens around the cauliflower, but leave the actual flower alone.

What was once a green field, now actually has lots of white where the exposed cauliflower are.

I was amazed really

Come on you guys! I'm trying to sit very still and feed the baby to sleep (the baby who wakes at the slightest noise or movement) and this thread is making me snort and giggle and silent belly laugh which is jiggling him. He's now looking at me contemptuously as he doesn't think I should be disturbing his sleep for giggling at sheep shenanigans! Grin

@Soubriquet

Cows also have 4 stomachs... that might mean something

And ponies HAVE been used as guide horses for those with dog allergies and apparently have been very effective.

Sorry... cows only have one stomach. They have different compartments.

Really sorry.

Must dash.

Feel bad but one of those things I can't leave alone when I hear or see it.

sashh · 22/12/2020 07:35

(though I don't know if you can house train a pony, imagine thatin the middle aisle of M&S

You can.

Could you imagine trying to toilet train a sheep!!!

There would be pellets of poo everywhere

I had pet chinchillas, they leave pellets everywhere (as well as eating the, throwing them at each other, at humans, into your cup of tea)

For years after they died I was finding chinny poo, in the oddest places, the Virgin Telewest box, my purse, on bookshelves. It was as if little chinny ghosts were visiting and leaving me signs.

My DD2 was quite convinced that she could have a pony in her bedroom on the 3rd floor. It could sleep on her rug. I told her that would be fine, but she would be cleaning it’s shit. She looked at me and said, “but I’m only 3!!!” I said “I have been cleaning up your poo, your brother’s poo, your sister’s poo and the dog’s poo. I even clean out the fish tank which is full of fish poo. I have more than enough poo in my life. I don’t have time for any more!” She thought that was reasonable.

@Boxofsaltsachets

Im also a little in love with Digby ❤️

Oh goodness, guide sheep! I mean how great, sat on a cold station, sheep leans against you to keep you warm, you'd never be short of a cauliflower either!

Brilliant...right up until they decide there's a simply delicious clump of greenery right in the middle of the track as the 9.57 has just left Ivybridge.
MedusasBadHairDay · 22/12/2020 11:20

I know it's pages late but I'm still giggling at "cobra chickens" - this thread is just what was needed today Grin

sashh · 22/12/2020 12:21

OMG Einstein - is this the cutest horse ever?

DontWalkPastTheCastle · 22/12/2020 13:07

I'm off out for a walk to visit the local sheep who just moved into a field nearby. I'm stupidly excited.

user1471565182 · 22/12/2020 13:55

Cows digestive systems are a nightmare or a work of art depending on how you see it. I suspect that explains cow shit.

Deepintheforest · 22/12/2020 14:06

It should probably also be pointed out that sheep have the 4 stomachs/chambers to Grin

stuffedforchristmas · 22/12/2020 14:43

*They had 2 methods:

  1. roll
  2. One sheep lies down on the cattle grid, and everybody else runs over the top of it.*

I think what happened was:

  1. one sheep ventured out into the grid and slipped.
  2. everyone else ran over it
