Best veggie sausages

It's for a sausage casserole so I dont want them to fall apart. One friend is vegetarian so if I use veggie sausages I only need to make 1 meal.

@Kidneybingo the Tesco own brand veggie sausages used to be my favourite too. Sainsbury’s own brand were exactly the same. Both disappeared. Cauldron IMO are the closest. I really disliked the Richmond sausages. Horrible slimy skin.

CosyQueen · 25/11/2020 12:55

Richmond are the best in my opinion

My DD loved the Tesco ones too. Closest we have found to those are the Vegetarian Butcher ones. Rather unfortunately named 'little willies'. They're quite nice.

I'll try those, thanks

Thanks beamur
I’ve seen the little willies on Ocado. Might have to order some despite the questionable name 😂

@Stealthynamechange

Richmonds now make veggie sausages, they hide them with the meat ones, absolutely the best veggie sausages ive tried.
^^ they even come with a ‘skin’ on. Totally fooled my DH.Grin They’re almost too realistic!

Another vote for Richmond!

Nipped to my local Tesco this morning and they had 3 short dated packs 1/2 price. In my freezer they went😊

Veryverycalmnow · 25/11/2020 18:59

Sainsburys shroomdogs and Heck meat free.

supercee · 25/11/2020 19:04

I drove to Morrison's this morning after reading this thread to get the Richmond ones (none in the local Waitrose). I'm not veggie but do like a veggie sausage.

I loved them! Had them on a Morrison's salt and pepper roll (also a revelation).

RedRosie · 25/11/2020 19:25

Actually... The Little Willies are also nice as @ginisatonic notes upthread. The Co-op sell them. Teeny weeny though - you'd want two packets for a casserole.

(And a great name Grin)

SOboredofcleaning · 25/11/2020 19:26

Cauldron!

SOboredofcleaning · 25/11/2020 19:27

Quorn gives me stomach cramps

frustrationcentral · 25/11/2020 19:36

Richmond! They sell them chilled ( by the normal sausages I believe) and in the vegetarian freezer section at Tesco. That's where I get them. DH works for the company that makes them and informs me they are sold at all major retailers Grin

frustrationcentral · 25/11/2020 19:41

He's also really impressed to see them recommended so much on here!

Thisismyusernamefornow · 25/11/2020 19:41

Richmond. Sainsbury's. Asda. Tesco all stock these vegan sausages.

pontiouspilates · 25/11/2020 19:46

Another vote for Richmond. Id never buy their meat sausages but their veggie ones are really nice!!

OohKittens · 25/11/2020 19:49

I'm a lifelong vegan raising vegan children 100% richmond are the best.

MadauntofA · 25/11/2020 19:51

Richmond meat free - our Aldi sell them now. My meat loving DH prefers them to meat

Byllis · 25/11/2020 19:55

Naked Sausages without the Oink - long name, not to be confused with Naked Glory. Very tasty. Seem to think they had a skin.

speakout · 25/11/2020 19:57

Richmond.
Morrisons sell them.

FunTimes2020 · 25/11/2020 20:57

As per PP, little willies (!) are really nice!

Can't believe no-one has mentioned VegiDeli Gourmet sage ones from Ocado or Holland and Barret. Best by miles and I've tried them all in the last 35 years!

JayAlfredPrufrock · 25/11/2020 21:59

Vegetarian for 40 years and my vote is Linda McC. I often make the Hairy Bikers Sausage & Bean casserole and they hold their shape.
