🎤On the National Express
There’s a jolly hostess
Giving porridge free
She’ll provide you with shots
amaretto or what
You like to seeeeee...

Going out was in style
Now we’re stuck in this aisle
Dream of being free
And it’s hard to get by
When your arse is the size
Of the furlough feeeeeee🎤

Bah ba ba la

Tomorrow belongs to meee...

Welcome to the 17:38 to freedom, stopping at virtual hugs, critical discourse, and random tangents along the way. ETA unknown...

@RobinHobb I'm so sorry, that's just awful.

@RobinHobb I am so sorry.

Re long covid. DIL had it at xmas we are sure of it. She was feeling so rough still at end of February they took some blood to test. Her liver function was very poor which mystified them, so we had a few months worry until it was retested and came back ok. She was not right until June really. Post viral syndrome is real DS had glandular fever it was a few years before he finally shifted it and I think living in the caribbean finally put him right.

‘These experiences make me feel like my life and disabled lives are seen as less valuable, and more expendable’

I’m glad today is over

Here’s today’s comfort cat

countrygirl99 · 15/11/2020 07:37

A friend has been asking for an iPad or phone to borrow so they can speak to a family member who is terminally ill. The immediate family can go in but others have to Facetime. Apparently where he is (not sure if it's hospital, hospice or home,) will only do that and won't use WhatsApp, Zoom or anything else that can be used in a non Apple device!

LivinLaVidaLoki · 15/11/2020 08:29

Just been over in the rona zone. Its madness.

Could we perhaps lighten it up a bit. Make a drinking game whereby anyone who starts a thread asking if lockdown is over where they live, we have a shot?

bakingcupcakes · 15/11/2020 08:33

@RobinHobb and @Reedwarbler Your stories are just awful. Both such sad situations.

I've said before how glad I am my grandparents both died just before this. My Gran's funeral was in March and was the last time we were altogether (but without my mum) in a pub as a family. It seems bizarre thinking about it now. She was living with dementia in a home with my Grandad who died the year before and my dad visited them every week without fail. My mum was diagnosed with cancer at Christmas. I'm so grateful that she found out then and treatment was finished during lockdown. If it had all started 6months later she could well have ended up in a situation like your friend's daughter Robin.

What's really frightening is that there'll be loads and loads of people in these types of situations. And lots won't get a reasonable resolution either.

bakingcupcakes · 15/11/2020 08:35

We could all be dead by lunch if we do that @LivinLaVidaLoki! Grin

bakingcupcakes · 15/11/2020 08:45

So...after hearing about the madness in the 'rona zone (this is your fault Loki) I've just been reading how parents are letting their children socialise in the park after school but not wearing masks or distancing like they do in tesco and thus aren't interpreting lockdown correctly. This was me&DS last week! In fact I thought it was most bizarre that 2 parents kept their masks on as we weren't all sat at a table together like usual but were standing apart leaning on various bits of railing...

LivinLaVidaLoki · 15/11/2020 09:21

Have to admit @bakingcupcakes I chuckled at the 'schools are dangerous! Boffins finally admit!'
Errrr I'm more concerned that this information has been available for months and yet a group of people whos job it is to teach our children, teach them to learn independently and research and interpret the information have
A. Only just found this
B. Seem to be misinterpreting some of the data

But what do I know 🤷‍♀️

LivinLaVidaLoki · 15/11/2020 09:22

And you are welcome for the introduction of 'rona zone.

DominaShantotto · 15/11/2020 09:22

I am so sick of the faux outrage and passive aggressive threads asking if lockdown is over followed by an overly embellished anecdote about how someone wasn't wearing a mask and was licking the salad aisle in Tescos while coughing.

BBC in particular seems to be laying the groundwork for lockdown being extended as well which is just shitter than shit and I think will finish me off completely right now.

We're starting to get masks appearing on the school run - considering we are not allowed to enter the school premises at all - the kids are pretty much flung out of the gate at us - the school have no chance of implementing this.

I'm really fucked off with blended learning at the moment - now we're at the point where the recycled lectures from previous years with shitty recording quality and chatter in the background are starting to be used - and stuff isn't being released when it should be - so we're left with like 4 hours of lecture recordings to slog through for a 9am on Monday morning.

At least the medication is working on my anxiety now though! I just feel low - which is, depressingly (no pun intended) more tolerable in terms of being able to function.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 15/11/2020 09:29

Also can I ask a silly question?
What's the daffodils for? I'm scared to ask when I see them posted in case I get yelled at for being ignorant.

Sonicthehedgehogg · 15/11/2020 09:34

Daffodil? It's used by teachers for "I'm not going to deign this with a response because I disagree with you and think you're an idiot"

LivinLaVidaLoki · 15/11/2020 09:35

Ahhhh
Can we get one? 😁

My liver wouldn't take it and it's already had me in HDU once Grin

(Temporary problem including late onset of Pre-eclampsia symptoms during labour, so definitely not originating in alcohol consumption)

They do seem a bit more agitated in there lately...

Localised data seems to be peaking. Rates of growth decreasing or begining to decline. With the time lag on reporting, and testing from aquiring the infection we're only just seeing any effect from lockdown and this was already in motion before.

Maybe we need to bring it back, (dementory icon)!

Sunny here today. Think am getting sciatica, is anyone else having back problems?

Hope they don't steal all the NG tubes...need them for a surgical condition if it worsens. (without means surgery and told they can't do anymore so really important).

Orangeblossom7777 · 15/11/2020 10:24

Lots in times today about lifestyle and obesity and covid. Corona area would hate it. I was shouted at on there for mentioning it may be preventable in some.

WouldBeGood · 15/11/2020 10:34

@Orangeblossom7777 this is why closing gyms and stopping sports is just insanity

AcornAutumn · 15/11/2020 10:34

The Tesco and isolating thread

This country is an embarrassment

NastyBlouse · 15/11/2020 10:35

@Reedwarbler and @RobinHobb Flowers So sorry to read about such tough situations.

NastyBlouse · 15/11/2020 10:36

I feel like a fair chunk of the threads in the 'rona zone are goady nonsense, posted for froth. But then I have a suspicious mind...
