What is your opinion of her?

OP posts:

I don’t know tonnes about her but what I do know I like a lot. I’m guessing the people calling her “extremely dangerous” are far right republicans or similar.

Depressingly, there will probably be a not too insignificant number of people who don’t like KH- and they just won’t know what the reason is Hmm Much like with MM.

The vast majority of gender critical women don't want it to be the priority issue either, but unfortunately, when something as seemingly innocuous as pronouns is used as a Trojan horse for the wholesale rolling back of women's rights to their sex based spaces and to describe their own needs and experiences, then it is a massive problem, and one that will last longer than a single politician crisis, even one as awful as Covid.

Her use of pronouns is not a secret. Joe Biden’s platform says their views re: trans and they got 5 million more votes nonetheless. You cannot force everyone else to care as much about this as GC feminists do. There was an election and they won. There is no Trojan horse.

Exactly

I think this is often because it’s all so bad people often don’t believe it’s a problem.

E.g man, beard, penis, suit, declares himself a woman. That’s it! Nothing further required.

turnitonagain · 08/11/2020 23:29

@WouldBeGood America is not a parliamentary system. Joe and Kamala can’t introduce sweeping changes on anything let alone trans with a Republican Senate.

Plus America is very religious and conservative in general. The most recent Supreme Court justice is a committed Catholic and the court has a 6-3 conservative majority. They are highly unlikely to uphold any laws related to progressive issues on sex or gender.

Stop clutching your pearls about GC in America and focus on your own country.

Not at a federal level anyway. Each states is like it own little country

WouldBeGood · 09/11/2020 01:44

@turnitonagain This thread asks specifically what you think of Kamala Harris.

I am well aware of the American system, thank you 🙄

And I’m far from a pearl clutcher. There’s no need to be rude because you disagree.

I’m concerned about the writing out of women from society.

I think she's great and am amused that racist and misogynistic Trump supporters are shitting themselves that if Biden kicks the can they will have a President who is black AND female. The horror. SmileSmileSmile

Suddenly we may find that many Republicans are extremely concerned about the new Democratic President's health.

rhowton · 09/11/2020 04:11

I liked her a little less once I saw she had her pronouns in her Twitter bio. I rolled my eyes. We know you're a women. Your whole premise is that you're a woman. You don't need to tell us you're a woman.

Kokeshi123 · 09/11/2020 06:43

I think she's mostly a decent politician by the current rather desultory standards (although that video on equality she released just before the vote was dire).

But it's depressing how hard it is to simply discuss non-white politicians in a sane and neutral manner. Everything gets seen through the prism of identity politics. If you say something positive, it gets seen by many people as being fulsome "Look at me! I'm so non-racist!!!" type gushing. If you say anything negative, many other people instantly ding it as "racism." I think this problem is getting worse.

Heatherjayne1972 · 09/11/2020 06:50

They don’t like her because she’s a Hindu

newstart1234 · 09/11/2020 06:55

Calming and extremely refreshing. Light peeping through dark clouds.

Already started on MN, just seen a post very concerned he's "propped up with a stick and dementia " issues Hmm Hmm
senatesenate · 09/11/2020 10:25

OP I think watch her live and make your own decision - so for example here at 2.42 she is debating here with Biden - this was hailed by Trump as an example of how dangerous she is - whereas I would see it as good competent straightforward above board healthy exchange of ideas between Biden and Harris!

What is happening behind the scenes, the political games, I wouldn't know. But just listening to what she is saying I would have a totally different view of it than Trump! I quite liked listening to what Biden was saying here too. Let's hope the world is changing for the better one tiny step at a time.

derxa · 09/11/2020 10:34

@Raceless

Also, what's with all the slave stuff?? She is the daughter of highly educated and intelligent people and is herself highly educated and accomplished. She doesn't need to fit some victim profile to be acceptable! Americans NEED some educated and intelligent people in the White House-it's a good thing!

Agreed.

Yes. Her mother was a research scientist and her father a university professor I think. I like her.
Thymeout · 09/11/2020 12:03

Trump received more votes in 2020 than he did in 2016 simply because more people voted than ever before in US history. Also, it was a 2 horse race, with no credible 3rd candidate on either side. There are stats that show that Hillary lost states because of the existence of another 'left' wing candidate - can't remember her name.

I like Kamala. If Biden had chosen AOC instead, he wouldn't have had a hope in hell of winning.
