What is your opinion of her?

Also, there are Black republicans who ran but never stood a chance . So it is not like they aren't pay attention to their political beliefs

Wondering1215 · 08/11/2020 02:30

@Blueberries0112 everybody has the right to their own opinion. Free speech is a wonderful right so many people do not enjoy.

I'm not stupid, I know many, many people didn't vote for Obama purely because of his heritage. Those people are equally as clueless as those voting for Biden/Harris purely because of their association with minorities.

Don't get me wrong, I would have been pissed off no matter who won and I'm not even American.

I don’t really like this thread. Stinks of something...

I agree, I suppose it is true that some people can be , if I can find the right word" hyper focused identity policy that they forget to check what people actually stand for.

Butterfly3105 · 08/11/2020 02:45

Actually I support Biden and Harris and I love their policies the inclusiveness is just the cherry on top Grin

Sertchgi123 · 08/11/2020 02:57

From what I’ve seen, so far, I’m impressed by her.

I am sorry, I got carried away, after so many negativity from people, I am very excited about Harris , being a woman too that just maybe people would just back off . I would feel the same with any politicians too

Did you join Mumsnet purely to ask this question op? Or did you name change?

JoeBidenIsGreat · 08/11/2020 03:47

KH has an abrasive side. She's going to be painted as HIllary Clinton Mark 2. She's too much of a hawk for progressive Dems and simply being a Dem alienates her from Republicans. I like KH, I like bossy women who get things done & don't tolerate time-wasters. I like KH's directness, forensic mind and her "style". But (like all women politicians) she's on an interesting tightrope.

BlueCatRedCat · 08/11/2020 04:31

What articles? Gun Toting Weekly and the Stepford Times?
Grin

KH is a formidable cross examiner. Watching her question Jeff Sessions was like watching a cat toying with a mouse. She also left William Barr flailing. I'm sure Trump & co categorise her as a "nasty woman", so that makes me like her. But I also hope she drops the pronouns bullshit, because if she and Joe want to bring America together, pandering to insane identity politics and woke gas lighting will not go down well with the majority.

allthewaterinthetap · 08/11/2020 04:41

I really like her a lot.

Deathraystare · 08/11/2020 07:28

Race is a weird thing in America. I remember watching a programme years ago about the abortion issue and how in some Southern states a black man who was anti abortion got in because although the majority in the state (not sure which) would not normally vote for a black man, they felt even stronger on abortion I guess!

I don't know much about her so cannot really comment , but she could be a really refreshing change from all the old white men!

TooOldforBouncyCastles · 08/11/2020 07:33

I think the USA are lucky to have her. She looks dynamic, interesting, experienced and up to the job. I hope she is next president

ContessaDiPulpo · 08/11/2020 07:52

Someone said they were pleased that the public voted regardless of gender - I don't believe that's so. I'm pretty sure that Biden only won (and had to fight for it) because a) he's an older white man who fits the presidential mould and b) a lot of people have had enough of Trump. I think if a white female candidate had been fielded for president then Trump would be celebrating his second term even now. Kamala Harris was part of the Biden deal, so here we are.

Having said that, I am hopeful about her being a professional, considered politician who will be an excellent example of appropriate behaviour and ethics. Time will tell I guess!

JacobReesMogadishu · 08/11/2020 07:53

I think from what little I’ve seen of her that she looks great. She’s obviously very intelligent, very articulate. I hope one day she’s president.

clearedfortakeoff · 08/11/2020 07:54

I loved her speech last night and found her hugely impressive. She was attorney general of San Francisco so is clearly accomplished. I'm delighted there is a woman in that role and a bit racial.one... it's about time our young girls have that role model.

clearedfortakeoff · 08/11/2020 07:55

Sorry 'big racial' not 'bit racial'......

rocketspin · 08/11/2020 07:58

I'll decide when she shows us what she's bringing to the job.

nosswith · 08/11/2020 08:04

Let's judge once Kamala Harris has had a period in the office. Vice President has specific responsibilities I understand.

tootyfruitypickle · 08/11/2020 08:15

@SirVixofVixHall. Everyone at my work has their pronouns on their signatures. I think this is quite normal now and not a threat to women’s rights in any way.

StartupRepair · 08/11/2020 08:20

She seems smart, qualified and full of energy and purpose. What's not to like?

EllieQ · 08/11/2020 08:23

Hmm... first post on MN, claims to have read articles saying Kamala Harris is ‘dangerous’ but won’t provide links. Are you getting paid for this?

TheVanguardSix · 08/11/2020 08:27

I am an admirer of our American philospher and activist, Cornel West, who I think puts it best: She's good, she's a moderate (which is what America needs right now), but like Biden, she won't be fighting for the worker. She'll side with the bosses.
She's not dangerous. She's just another politician who knows which side her bread is buttered.
It's like when you watch Obamas's speech he made upon visiting Flint Michigan. He took that sip of water and that moment crystalised (for me) who he is and what he stands for. They're all cut from the same cloth and I can't help but feel a bit flat about this election. Still, Trump's out and that's the result we needed, in my opinion.
