It’s great news right here and now but the fact it wasn’t a landslide is baffling. All the issues that meant Trump was even voted in in the first place haven’t gone away. Twitter is acting like poor USA was like some sort of Soviet state and they’ve been living under a dictatorship for decades, not a democracy that upholds a system that allows an individual who has no redeeming features whatsoever and doesn’t even get the most votes to win (or in Trump’s case even be nominated in the first place!).

YES!!!!!!

cathyandclare · 07/11/2020 18:16

Why is everyone saying Johnson hasn't tweeted?

Viviennemary · 07/11/2020 18:17

Boris hasn't congratulated Biden yet because it doesn't seem to be official. When is it official.

MarshaBradyo · 07/11/2020 18:18

He has congratulated Biden

bellinisurge · 07/11/2020 18:18

I think the twat did so just now. After the PM of Malta had done it. Which probably reflects where we are in the international pecking order.

cathyandclare · 07/11/2020 18:20

I'm going to post this again. I am no fan of BJ, but he has tweeted.
Biden wins

Trump will probably set the White House on fire on his way out. Or he will chain himself to it. To be honest the way he’s kicking up it wouldn’t surprise me if he gives himself a heart attack or a stroke between now and December. You know how toddlers cause themselves to fall asleep sometimes in the midst of epic tantrums? Like that times a thousand!

Peregrina · 07/11/2020 18:23

He took his time though. I bet he would have been quicker off the mark if Trump had won.

Still, what's this win going to do for Farage now?

FannyCann · 07/11/2020 18:24

I expect Biden will have to spend the first week inthe White House, bleaching the orange fake tan tide marks from the bath

You can’t say that until the counting is finished. Looks like the numbers are only going in one direction.

HannahStern · 07/11/2020 18:24

Johnson was very slow out of the blocks.

I just wanted to see the look on his face when he was told that he had officially lost. I don’t think for a minute that he’d accept it though. I expect we’ll see threat after threat and lawsuit after lawsuit. Idiot.

crankysaurus · 07/11/2020 18:26

Hooray!!! I'm so happy!

joystir59 · 07/11/2020 18:33

Congratulations America

1forAll74 · 07/11/2020 18:34

Does nobody think about poor Melania, she has now got to pack up all her many designer clothes, and shoes, and shop at Walmart now.!

Nocaloriesinchocolate · 07/11/2020 18:34

I've just been watching the Election Day episode of the West Wing where Alan Alda the Republican candidate loses and says wtteo "I won't be a sore loser". Hmmm

pastandpresent · 07/11/2020 18:34

Finally! Must be such a great news for many people in US.

Rhine · 07/11/2020 18:35

Yeah Johnson has now tweeted. Some time after Kier Starmer and every other political leader in the U.K. All of the first ministers got in there first. Probably shitting himself that his mate Trump is history.

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 07/11/2020 18:36

[quote CustardySergeant]I think it's both incredible and rather terrifying that more Americans voted for Trump this year, knowing what they know about him, than voted for him in 2016. Thank goodness the turnout was so massive and Biden still won.

Could this be in part because more people voted than in 2016?

Spreadingchestnut · 07/11/2020 18:37

Thanks heavens!

IfNotNow12 · 07/11/2020 18:40

I'm very pleased that the US now has it's first woman Vice President !

AuntyPonsonby · 07/11/2020 18:41

Not very good news for the UK, for all those whooping and cheering. Leaves us badly exposed on brexit, Northern Ireland and a US trade agreement.

Sandybeen · 07/11/2020 18:42

Does nobody think about poor Melania, she has now got to pack up all her many designer clothes, and shoes, and shop at Walmart now.!

I'm sure the money she has in her own name from her investments etc (circa $50 mil) will keep her going for a while.
