Hi all

I couldn’t find the new thread so here is one I set up. It’s windy out there! Glad I weeded my flowerbeds a couple of days ago.

Hello... Can I come join you?
I am so over the whole thing... I literally do not care..

MercyBooth · 02/11/2020 14:19

I’ve woken up today feeling angry. Yesterday it was depression. The government have had months to get the country prepared for what was going to be a tougher than usual winter but instead they gave millions of taxpayers money to their incompetent buddies and now they’ve fucked us all over again. They are cunts

YES. We are paying the price for their profit.

justasking111 · 02/11/2020 14:27

OH being snipey, rude, because it is windy, keeps pouring down, so he cannot go for a bike ride. Why are men such toddlers. Another week of lockdown unfortunately. He has the tv on hours of discovery shit why is this not enough. Thank god I have my kindle.

WouldBeGood · 02/11/2020 14:28

Hi, @Theredjellybean !

Me too

WouldBeGood · 02/11/2020 14:41

I see the made up laws are springing up again to berate anyone foolish enough to question

Sonicthehedgehogg · 02/11/2020 14:44

Eurgh. Just seen a thread about building resilience with all the usual tropes and misunderstandings. If exposure to hardship was good for you psychologically then psychological trauma wouldn't exist. We are resilient to hardship and trauma because we have resilience, we do not gain it through these experiences. Argh! (Sorry, just needed to rant that in a safe space. I spend half my time writing responses then deleting them as it wouldn't be worth it).

Pleasedontdothat · 02/11/2020 14:49

Could I ask my fellow ADs to sign this petition calling for riding schools to be exempt from closing during lockdown? Not only is it easy to keep your distance from other people on a horse, riding is vital for many people’s mental and physical health (including mine). Riding schools only just got through the last lockdown and I fear that if they have to endure another unspecified period of closure that many will never open again. Please sign and share (not my petition but I feel I need to do something to get my voice heard):

Petition

Sonicthehedgehogg · 02/11/2020 15:01

Signed.

Can I have a polo mint? Grin

Reedwarbler · 02/11/2020 15:01

Signed. Seems madness to close down a healthy outdoor activity, yet our footballers can continue hugging each other on the pitch...and isn't racing continuing?

Iheartmysmart · 02/11/2020 15:05

Signed. I used to love horse riding but can’t afford it any more unfortunately. Was never any good though as my many visits to A&E will testify.

TabbyStar · 02/11/2020 15:06

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger Sonic ...

...is a saying that makes me absolutely murderous! I bloody hate the blaming the victim for not being able to recover.

Sonicthehedgehogg · 02/11/2020 15:12

Well quite, Tabby...
"What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger"

Polio. End of argument.

Iheartmysmart · 02/11/2020 15:22

@Sonicthehedgehogg I always thought I was fairly resilient due to a forces childhood and all that entails as well as some interesting life experiences but lockdown almost broke me last time. There is no resilience left for more crap.

Orangeblossom7777 · 02/11/2020 15:33

Well town is hectic today, all the Christmas shoppers, cafes with queues and it is just Monday afternoon

countrygirl99 · 02/11/2020 15:34

@Sonicthehedgehogg surely the current retort is long covid

So new lockdown rules don't allow for partners who live separately... unless it's an OW situation? Then the OW could form a support bubble with the bloke's family?

AllPlayedOut · 02/11/2020 15:52

That's why the Terrence Higgins Trust recommends not kissing, wearing a face mask during sex and favouring positions where you're not face-to-face.

Do these people actually know what sex involves? Who the hell wants to have sex like that? Might as well not bother.

BogRollBOGOF · 02/11/2020 15:53

There was a jam at a particular bit of the by-pass which makes me think of prelockdown buying at the nearby retail park. It's notorious for gridlocking. I haven't been there since they introduced a 3 hour limit with automstic fines from numberplate cameras... the trouble is, you could easily spend one hour shopping and exceed the time limit trying to get out of the place! They don't like revoking the fines despite the fact that people can not drive out in anything like a reasonable timescale.

The rest of the roads felt a bit quieter.

Survived the school run. Not much fun. I did chat to a couple of other parents while firmly looking on the ground. At least DS1 walks home on a Monday so no extra hanging around.

HitchikersGuide · 02/11/2020 15:54

Oh the bloody resilience nonsense! I'm perfectly bloody resilient most of the time, but it is very difficult to go round with a beatific smile on my face, grateful that I'm not in WW2 or whatever when, not only are we in a total shitshow, but also the world seems to have gone entirely mad.

wanderings · 02/11/2020 15:57

@MercyBooth I hope you’re right. Hoist by their own petard.

MercyBooth · 02/11/2020 15:59

Other end of town has a power cut due to the winds. Friend says it wont be fixed till 7pm. If they are expecting people to lockdown at this time of year they will have to get these power companies to buck their ideas up. Because i will be going somewhere where there IS power if this happens on this estate lockdown or no lockdown.

ISaySteadyOn · 02/11/2020 16:25

Signed. I am not resilient now. I am on the worst day of the month. Ouch.

ShoeJunkie · 02/11/2020 16:26

@Pleasedontdothat have signed the petition. My DC have fairly recently started lessons and will be gutted that they can’t continue.
