France rumoured to go back into nation lockdown from midnight tomorrow

Just that really. 😢

We live in France and I fear for our business. We live very rurally with only 2 deaths during the whole situation. Local equivalent of BBC news are reporting it is what will be announced by president Macron tomorrow.

OP posts:

The announcement of the details which was scheduled for this evening has been postponed due to the terrible events in Nice.

ninninannonoonoo · 29/10/2020 15:10

Should probably have said may be postponed.

InvincibleInvisibility · 29/10/2020 17:08

Huge traffic jams here too.

And confinement starts at midnight tonight which answers one of my questions! ("Friday" was vague)

NomadNoMore · 29/10/2020 17:18

I'm glad the parks are staying open, great for cities. Our enormous park is almost always deserted but I won't be able to take the dog there because it's more than 1km from my house.

ninninannonoonoo · 29/10/2020 17:19

Does anyone know what time the Prime Minister is due to clarify the rules?

I thought I had seen 1830 but I can't seem to find that reference now.

Jemenfouscompletement · 29/10/2020 17:32

It's on in a minute, BFM TV

ninninannonoonoo · 29/10/2020 18:36

Thanks @Jemenfouscompletement

Managed to miss it but have seen the updates.

Jemenfouscompletement · 29/10/2020 18:38

I prefer Edouard Philippe to Castex!

Callardandbowser · 29/10/2020 19:46

My sister’s now going to lose a months earnings at least. She works And lives in a ski resort.
God it’s awful, so sorry to any of you who are suffering.

LaChatte · 29/10/2020 19:55

I couldn't get home because of the traffic jam to McD HmmHmm

InvincibleInvisibility · 29/10/2020 20:14

Massive jams in ile de France.

Some more things have beens clarified - the 1km rule is sooooooo depressing. Been there, done that, seen everything there is to see!

Our school has confirmed it ll be usual times from Monday but they are waiting for more instructions. As is the DCs judo club...

Jemenfouscompletement · 29/10/2020 21:33

I thought all kids sports clubs were cancelled from what Castex said tonight

LaChatte · 29/10/2020 21:35

I made the most of today by spending it with my DM who lives in hour away, we went out for a lovey long walk in the mountains halfway between our homes. The colours are spectacular this year. We then went and had a slice of cake and a hot chocolate in one of the few salons de thé that were still open.

I nipped into Carrefour on the way back (about 19h) it was pretty empty (very few customers), no loo rolls, pasta, flour, cat food (oh shit), lentils or ham for example.

In idea what's happening with work (collège), I feel sorry for all the heads, they must be in a right flap.

InvincibleInvisibility · 30/10/2020 06:32

The first reports in the media were that sports were ok for professionals and "mineurs adherents d'un club".

Now they're saying that sports clubs which are pure sports clubs will close, but centres loisirs after school and Wednesdays can stay open.

Our club is still waiting confirmation though I don't hold out much hope.

The school thing is weird too as they only ever mention parents collecting DC, never nounous which is the majority of the cases. As I'll be WFH I could collect them but I'd rather our after school nounou carried on working (especially as her husband's restaurant has to close) but it's not entirely clear that she can.

InvincibleInvisibility · 30/10/2020 06:34

As an aside, I had to call out of our bedroom window this morning at 2am to tell the partying neighbours (who were outside smoking) to stop making so much noise as they were waking my DC and there is a fucking confinement.

They moved inside and continued with loud music so I ended up sleeping on the sofabed, seething.

NotQuiteFrance · 30/10/2020 07:25

Some people are idiots. Hope you managed some rest.

We live right next to where the teenagers congregate... At least it's getting colder and dark so hopefully that will limit it somewhat. Although last time we were on the police patrol and they did send them home if there were too many.

Our sports clubs have to close, but as schools don't, swim classes and dance classes etc can still go ahead providing there's a safety plan.

CoteDAzur · 30/10/2020 09:05

It is interesting to read everyone's perspective and observations. We are in the South of France and relieved that DC can go to school, but worried that half of Paris is on their way here.

As of 9 PM last night, there were many speeding cars on the roads. I fear that there will be many accidents as people rush to get back home before curfew.

May I ask a question from England Please?

The 1km rule - if you are informally caring for a family member, are you exempt?

The 1km rule is only for exercise/fresh air. 1km from your front door and one hour max per day

If you have caring responsibilites there is a section of the form you can tick to declare this - you still need a new form every time you leave the house.

"Déplacements pour motif familial impérieux, pour l'assistance aux personnes vulnérables et précaires ou la garde d'enfants"

"Déplacement des personnes en situation de handicap et leur accompagnant"

ninninannonoonoo · 30/10/2020 10:01

I haven't seen anything that specifies shopping at your nearest supermarket - does anyone know if that is still a requirement this time around?

AcornAutumn · 30/10/2020 10:02

Nin - thank you.

RandomMess · 30/10/2020 10:27

The traffic jams reported are insane!!

notafanoftheman · 30/10/2020 11:56

our cleaning lady is still allowed to come, apparently, so I guess nounous can too.

The good news for me is that my morning run route juuuuust takes me up to the 1 km boundary. Hurrah. It was the one thing that I really missed last time when the parks were shut.

LaChatte · 30/10/2020 12:20

My 18yo DS begins his stage on Monday (bac pro), during the week he's supposed to be staying in a friend's gîte from Sunday to Friday (for three weeks), he doesn't drive and buses don't run on Sunday so I will have to drive him there and come back, I have no idea which attestation I need, or even if it's allowed.

Schools may not open until Tuesday now as staff need a day to be briefed about everything that's happening.

Jemenfouscompletement · 30/10/2020 15:14

I went for my normal trail run this morning, although did the routes nearer to the house, just me and the border collie. I never meet anyone else in the countryside.
