France rumoured to go back into nation lockdown from midnight tomorrow

Just that really. 😢

We live in France and I fear for our business. We live very rurally with only 2 deaths during the whole situation. Local equivalent of BBC news are reporting it is what will be announced by president Macron tomorrow.

Very relieved about schools, although as DH says "for now". And they don't say what reinforced measures are - masks for primary for example?

I will admit that we booked a drive for Friday (first day we could do it) this afternoon with the idea that we might be restricted again to local supermarkets.

We also looked at buying Christmas presents tomorrow for the DC but we can't decide what to get them....

FrencheFancie · 28/10/2020 20:32

Teacher in France here. Yeah, I heard that little "special reinforced measures in schools" comment. Wouldn't be surprised if they imposed a max class size, but I bloody hope not.

InvincibleInvisibility · 28/10/2020 20:33

Attestations are a pain.

InvincibleInvisibility · 28/10/2020 20:33

Max class size would be a nightmare for everyone

Birdladybird · 28/10/2020 20:34

I would actually prefer to have the kids at home with me.

At least I’ve finished my Xmas shopping.

Ive got a few presents especially for the 6 year old but the 9 year old is REALLY hard to buy for now. He doesn't need anything. But he does want a PS4 which I'd earmarked for his 10th birthday....but DH has suggested Christmas instead. But its a big present and Im not sure.

Jemenfouscompletement · 28/10/2020 21:16

@Birdladybird

No no no Home schooling a disaster for my DS Am so happy that he will continue his lessons and see his friends at college. But I'm not really at risk.
notafanoftheman · 28/10/2020 21:26

Same here. Home schooling whole WFH was a disaster and as an élue parent d’élève i heard some absolute horror stories of the impact on vulnerable children.

Jemenfouscompletement · 28/10/2020 21:53

As fir Christmas presents everything is available on line so why panic?
I got rid of the PS4 2 years ago when DS was 12.

MountainDweller · 28/10/2020 22:41

Oh fuckity-fuck, was hoping for a more German style semi-confinement Sad

I did a drive shop too this evening too - cannot bear the thought of queuing outside my little Intermarché in the rain! I think lots of people had the same idea as I had trouble getting my order to go through. No bacon or baked beans, Brits must be panic buying Grin

InvincibleInvisibility · 29/10/2020 07:14

Last time I had serious delays in getting delivered. Amazom took up to 8 weeks for stuff "sent today"

InvincibleInvisibility · 29/10/2020 07:14

I also had 2 parcels go missing which was nightmare

InvincibleInvisibility · 29/10/2020 07:32

I also looked up getting a delivery from la grande recre and they don't deliver to homes only shops and points relais which will be shut...

Still on the positive side it looks like kids sports clubs can stay open.

dementedma · 29/10/2020 07:42

Even less chance now I can visit my friend in Normandy who is terminally ill. No chance to hold her one more time before its too late!

happystory · 29/10/2020 07:59

How very sad dementedma

notafanoftheman · 29/10/2020 08:02

Why panic? Because while we are lining Jeff Bezos’s pockets with yet more billions, small High street shops will just die.

InvincibleInvisibility · 29/10/2020 08:10

I agree re amazon. So DH is going to keep an eye on the DC today (whilst WFH) and Im going out to the shops to go Christmas shopping for the DC.

My MIL has had part of her present last week (just in case) and everyone else we buy for is in the UK.

Ok maybe Im panicking unnecessarily but once its done its done and I wont be fighting the crowds in December.

InvincibleInvisibility · 29/10/2020 08:11

So sorry @dementedma. Losing loved ones we can't say goodbye to it the worst.

InvincibleInvisibility · 29/10/2020 10:40

So, shops are totally heaving.

Parks and jardins are staying open.

Masks mandatory from age 6.

Bookshops not considered "essential" (I thought they were last time?)

Im venturing out again this afternoon for more shopping then calling it a day. DH and I haven't got each other anything yet but at least the DC won't be disappointed.

If they open more shops in December we'll support them.

In the meantime - one last resto this evening and home before 9pm!

notafanoftheman · 29/10/2020 11:25

parks and gardens will make life easier. Not sure how my just-turned-seven year old (couple of days ago) will cope with a mask.

LaChatte · 29/10/2020 12:18

If it makes you feels any better, most of the kids I know get on way better with masks than the adults do. 10yo DD often forgets to take hers off in the car on the way home from school.

LaChatte · 29/10/2020 12:21

I've been making all our masks, there are lots of tutorials out there, I'll see if I can find the one I've been using as ot includes children's sizes.

Coffeecak3 · 29/10/2020 12:33

Taking our dog for a last long walk this afternoon before lockdown.
Still praying I'll get back to the uk for December as dd getting married (cancelled once already).
She has begged us to form a bubble with her so we'll be allowed to go.

InvincibleInvisibility · 29/10/2020 13:17

Fnac was horrendous! So so busy.

But got some masks for my DC so at least they can go back to school on Monday! (And outside tomorrow...)

Hope you make it back for the wedding Coffee

brittanyfairies · 29/10/2020 13:33

Was hoping to make a quick visit to Noz to try and pick up some English goodies (and cheap wine) to make the next 4 weeks bearable but the bouchons are unbelievable, so I got nowhere.

Then the realisation that every lunch break for the next 4 weeks I'm going to be stuck in this staff room with these same people and listen to their bloody voices all day and not even be allowed to go for a walk. It's going to be a bloody nightmare
