I need your help, hive mind
I will be opening a shop, an independent selling clothing (lesser known brands, maternity stuff) and locally made jewellery etc
I’m struggling with the name
This is my shortlist:
Blossom&robes
Luxeduck
Pushvelvet
Stellarobes

Do you have a favourite and any other suggestions would be appreciated? Thanks!

Bloom

LunaNorth · 19/10/2020 09:16

Blomma - Swedish for flower and rhymes with ‘momma’.

LunaNorth · 19/10/2020 09:17

Freya.

Nice name, stylish, fertility goddess.

ladyandthechocolate · 19/10/2020 09:32

There are some really great suggestions coming through, thank you, hive mind.
I really like Adored - simple but just right for a (predominantly) clothing shop. Captures the maternity and the non- maternity aspect well.

@LunaNorth

Freya.

Nice name, stylish, fertility goddess.

When I was thinking of Scandi names I thought Freya too.
ladyandthechocolate · 19/10/2020 10:07

Freya is also a great option
I am definitely moving away from blossom related names to something strong and simple
It’s like having a massive brain storming session with colleagues and my vision is gradually becoming clearer and clearer.

Be aware of names like Freya - I love it, but it will date. Like the clothing shop near me called Linda's.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 19/10/2020 10:25

Adore or Adored is very strong

AlCalavicci · 19/10/2020 10:32

I agree with PP, it needs to discribe what you are selling or at least be in the theme/ area .
I am afraid I don't like your suggestions and while some blossom ones are ok it may get mistaken for a flower shop , esp on line.
How about
Nature and nurture .
Mother and child ( I was going to say parent and child but that doesn't sound right to me )
Or if you want to focus more on the hand made jewellery

Erm not Freya, that's already taken. They make my bras and are a very large company.

Bubbletrouble43 · 19/10/2020 10:50

If its for women and has maternity wear maybe Eve?

LunaNorth · 19/10/2020 11:26

Go full Scandi and call it Freja then? Wink

MrsBobDylan · 19/10/2020 11:26

"Push Velvet sounds like a euphemism for needing the loo".* Grin *

You could think about reflecting the Scandi + Natural aspects of your ethos OP. I would buy mid range Scandi clothes if I saw them in a shop. We spend time in Whitstable and there are lovely shops there but the price of the Scandi inspired clothes make my eyes water.

MrsBobDylan · 19/10/2020 11:29

You could explore names of plants that help make natural fibres or a part of the process of making them.

Bright is a good clean, sharp word, as is Lint.

Sweetchillijam · 19/10/2020 11:35

How about Anya’s or Anu’s.

Antonov · 19/10/2020 12:59

Anu's looks like Anus. No go.

SingingInTheShithouse · 19/10/2020 13:15

Noooo on Anu's ShockGrin you'll find yourself fielding strange phone calls if you go for that 😂

How about...

Cotton
Bomulle
Linen
Linne
Halla
Norse

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 19/10/2020 13:17

I knew i recognised the name Freya but couldnt place it, my bra's are also made by them Grin
Antonov · 19/10/2020 13:25

Might as well call it Emma Royde

Maireas · 19/10/2020 14:01

Antonov 😂 😂 😂
Maybe not Lint, it'll just remind people to clean the filter in the tumble dryer.

ladyandthechocolate · 19/10/2020 14:13

Not lint, sounds like clothes fluff. Or anu’s!
The two front runners are:

Freja (but with 2 dots over the j, umlaut I think it is)
Adored

OP posts:
ChasedByFox · 19/10/2020 14:41

If you use Freja people will just search online and only find the bra company!

What about a place in Scandinavia such as Skane?
Or Jutland?
Or something like Finna (find)
(Finna Sig, find oneself)

LunaNorth · 19/10/2020 14:42

Finna Sig is a fab name

LunaNorth · 19/10/2020 14:43

Or Christiania. The (much nicer) old name for Oslo.

Maireas · 19/10/2020 14:50

Finna Sig - is that a laxative?
