When nothing else will do - Mornington Crescent anyone?

Feels like we could all do with a robust tournament round about now. May I start?

I know this is cheeky, but I’ll begin with...

...Osterley

Quickly we go down the west coast mainline and change trains to end up at Hatch End.

sashh · 01/12/2020 06:44

Hatch End that is a devilish move @nosswith, the only way to avoid Nidd is for me to head back North to Golder's Green.

ComeBackIntoTheGardenMaud · 01/12/2020 11:52

Deftly done, Sashh. I don’t want to speak too soon, but we could even be on the home straight now. Hope this won’t jeopardise that

Euston Square

DuckonaBike · 01/12/2020 12:57

Things are certainly hotting up!

Chalk Farm

nosswith · 02/12/2020 06:40

This is certainly interesting play and the only move I can think of is to Belsize Park.

ComeBackIntoTheGardenMaud · 02/12/2020 12:10

Gosh, you made an early start this morning. It’s difficult to choose between the various options, but the Colonel (whose judgement I trust, despite that little contretemps in Damascus in ‘88) recommends this, and who am I to disagree?

Elmers End

DuckonaBike · 02/12/2020 18:31

Dramatic move there Maud - not surprised to hear the Colonel was involved.

Chiswick Park

ComeBackIntoTheGardenMaud · 02/12/2020 22:53

It pays to be adventurous, I find, and so on to

Arsenal

sashh · 03/12/2020 06:25

It just has to be quick flamenco then to, Baker St

nosswith · 03/12/2020 08:27

The Colonel in his play has enlightened many a game of the game of games and when someone comes to write a history of the game of games will probably merit a chapter alone.

Kensal Green is the move I think apposite for a Thursday in December.

HagenDaz · 03/12/2020 08:33

Stamford Brook

ComeBackIntoTheGardenMaud · 03/12/2020 13:28

You are quite correct, nosswith. For good or bad, the Colonel has been an influential figure throughout the long and noble history of the game of games and the modern game would not be the same without him. Indeed, it was he who introduced me to my next move, a lateral chassée to

Burnt Oak

WalkingInTheAir13 · 03/12/2020 15:13

The Colonel would probably not approve of this, (a bit avant-garde perhaps).

But the DLR has always come up trumps for me in this game so I'm playing
Cyprus.

DuckonaBike · 03/12/2020 16:26

Nice move Walking. I can now make a less adventurous move to Mudchute

ComeBackIntoTheGardenMaud · 03/12/2020 21:51

I think you’ll find, Walking, that the Colonel approves of just about everything, especially the avant garde.

All Saints

StCharlotte · 03/12/2020 21:53

Oof.

Hatton Cross

(safety move)

sashh · 04/12/2020 07:10

It is such a shame that station has never been named after the Colonel.

In his honour I will take us to Colliers Wood, whitch in my mind is 'Colonel's Wood' and always makes me giggle like a school girl.

nosswith · 04/12/2020 08:27

Clever use of the interchange and tram rule gets us to Wimbledon. There are some people who don't think that the Wombles are real, presumably they have never played the game of games.

DuckonaBike · 04/12/2020 11:09

I’m saddened to hear that nosswith. I’m not feeling too inspired this morning, so I’m making the easy move to Clapham Junction.

WalkingInTheAir13 · 04/12/2020 18:15

Goodness! You are right about the Colonel Maud.
The Barcelona kerfuffle in '87 is a poignant reminder - thank you for that.

So I'm now in super confident mode to sleekly side to Old Street.

ComeBackIntoTheGardenMaud · 04/12/2020 21:25

I am wrong about many things, Walking, but never about the Colonel. For me, the highlight of the Barcelona tournament of the game of games was the very creditable performance of Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé in the mixed doubles. They later wrote a song about it.

Stratford International

DuckonaBike · 06/12/2020 09:48

Well that was a tricky move Maud! After long thought, I’m hoping I can get away with Tower Gateway. Fingers crossed!

And yes, I did deliberately wait until Sunday so that I could use the Dalgliesh Dispensation. I like to think the Colonel would be impressed.

ComeBackIntoTheGardenMaud · 06/12/2020 10:23

That was a masterful move, DuckonaBike. We are all impressed, not only the Colonel, although my earlier forecast that we’d soon be at MC was clearly wrong.

Turkey Street

DuckonaBike · 08/12/2020 16:26

Thank you for your kind words, Maud. Things seem to have gone a bit quiet after your last (seasonal?) move. Let’s try and get them going again.

Tufnell Park

nosswith · 08/12/2020 17:52

Interesting, I assume with the use of the never built stations rule (there was a second Tufnell Park planned on what is now London Overground).

I think a move to Highgate is logical here.
