Feels like we could all do with a robust tournament round about now. May I start?

I know this is cheeky, but I’ll begin with...

...Osterley

Surrey Docks (I play the original 1910 version which does not acknowledge the DLR or station name changes)!

Clapham High Street (as it's only allowed on a Thursday)

Well that last move had everyone stumped! I’m going to play it safe with Stockwell.

Sorry @DuckonaBike but since the Championship in Helsinki 1974 that move was made illegal due to the Nelson Side Step motion proposed by Mr Smythe in the Official Rules Committee following a blatant disregard for Mornington Crescent ettiquete by Mr L Spencer in the final.

I think you'll find the legal move would be to hop straight to Cockfosters.

@MrsLlewelynBowen - if I may be so bold, I fear you are perhaps confusing the Nelson Side Step motion with the Hungerford Highkick of Calais 1975 - very similar, admittedly, but with fewer interchanges and an additional toucan crossing.

So with that in mind, Turnham Green.

It's Friday, so I'll play a Robertson's Rollback, which takes me to Hammersmith.

Para 27(d) of Stovold is clear that transverse moves are permitted even at times of actual or impending public restriction.

I’ve just been reamaning the Kensington rules of 1968 & being daring by suggesting

Knightsbridge.

Good move littlefires. I’m going to play the Duckworth variation with a diagonal move to St John’s Wood.

As it's a Friday in October, the Luxembourg rule surely applies. So...Tufnell Park.

Reading this is so soothing. I hear all the voices. It's like the shipping forecast.

Report
ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 16/10/2020 08:57

If the Luxembourg rule is in play the I think I can go with Holborn

Report
KeeOe · 16/10/2020 08:59

Ooh, tricky! As the Exceptional Protocol has been invoked, I'm going to implement the 1977 Bartholin's manoeuvre and bounce us back to the Tyne and Wear Metro. I give you...Kenton Bank Foot. Take that!

FasterthanBolt · 16/10/2020 09:01

As it's Friday and I'm feeling a little frivolous, I'll go with Kilburn.

Mumdiva99 · 16/10/2020 09:05

Following the Exceptional Protocol and the bounce to Tyne and Wear, I am going to play the Birkenhead Skate and jump over to Moreton on the Merseyside Rail lane. (A risky move but I think it pays off...)

I am invoking the 1977 Watford Gap proviso to the Exceptional Protocol that includes non London Borough tube stations that have a rail interchange

hmm, an audacious move, Chaz. In that case - Aldwych. (See what I did there?)

Playing the unbuilt extensions rule takes me to Waterloo.

Report
Pelleas · 16/10/2020 12:17

I'm going to invoke the 1982 Ballantree Convention (rule 5.a. section ii) and bounce to Great Portland Street. An old one, but a good one.

Report
nosswith · 16/10/2020 13:13

I'm going to invoke the walking interchange rule which I have not used since the ill-fated 2006 tournament in Clacton and move to Regents Park. The Major was most displeased on that occasion.

Any news on Maud who has yet to join this particular game?

No news on Maud, so let’s honour her contribution to the history of Mornington Crescent and make a move to ...

North Greenwich

I’ve not played in this format before but hope you will have me? In hopeful anticipation I am going to have to say Canada Water.

wizzler that is a crafty move and means my preferred option puts me in Nidd.
