We've polished off our hotel breakfasts, flocked to the beaches and eaten out to help out with Rishi. Now the D-Day style floatilla of Anti-Dementor boats weather the stormy seas of tiers 1, 2 and 3 and support each other through the calls for lockdown.

Hold on tight and get those bouyancy aids on...

A THIRD?!!! Oh my god. I can't get over that.

Iheartmysmart · 23/10/2020 09:30

@WouldBeGood I know, and there are still people on some threads clamouring for tougher restrictions!
Good idea about tweeting the pub.

To be fair, it says a third of homes. (Sorry, I can't switch the statistician brain off...) But the point that they're showing a much higher rate of false positives than they should be is very important.

Bollss · 23/10/2020 09:43

Pinched this off another thread.

So they'll count your positive even if you've tested negative and they're only just stopping counting twice.

Realistically we can't use previous data for anything because it's all bollocks

I'm struggling big time at the minute, I feel like my marriage is falling apart through no fault of his, I suddenly feel trapped in this family of the 4 of us and am wistfully looking at escaping and just being on my own and sharing the kids between us as fairly as possible. Thanks to my job in hospitality I can't go anywhere, no landlord will touch me with a barge pole so I'm just going round in circles, hurting the one who is supposed to be the closest to me because I just can't do it anymore. I hate what it's doing but I'm struggling to pretend all is fine.

I'm terrified of being locked down and not being able to see my friends or family. I can't survive just being with the same few faces day in day out with nowhere to go and nobody to see.

If I have to homeschool again I think it will push me over the edge.

wanderings · 23/10/2020 10:10

@Iheartmysmart I suppose it could be done (if we cared enough) to use a website that prints custom T-shirts, or even face masks (Photobox does them): just grab the picture of the bellends from the news sites, and do it. I'm not sure how much money I'd be willing to spend doing this, though.

justasking111 · 23/10/2020 10:16

Businesses in hospitality being sent this email. Bit threatening Welsh government latest bright Idea. Should have thought of this before locking down.

Iheartmysmart · 23/10/2020 10:33

@wanderings True, although as you say is it worth the cost. Perhaps we could go with ADs versus The Three Bellends for our next thread title as a small rebellion.
I see there are some horrible comments already on the support thread for those who can’t wear a mask.

Flowers. You're not alone.
Whoooootaminute · 23/10/2020 10:46

I got way over excited when I saw that the Canary Islands are now on the 'safe' list. Am dying to book a trip but I won't as things can change seemingly at any time.

Whoooootaminute · 23/10/2020 10:48

But have just booked some gig tickets for next October.. That should be okay, right ? Hmm

Flowers to all of those who are struggling at the moment. It's shitty and unfair.

Reedwarbler · 23/10/2020 10:56

Blinking, bloomin' masks! Don't want to start another tedious thread about a familiar subject, but...I have done my weekly Tesco shop this morning. I was wearing my bandana thing, everybody else in the shop (apart from a few of the shopping pickers) was wearing a mask. I don't go many places, but I rarely see people NOT wearing marks. I get really annoyed by the assertion that no one wears a mask when they should, and posters whipping themselves into a frenzy of self righteousness. Anyway, if you see someone not wearing a mask and it bothers you, just keep well away from them, it's not exactly difficult. I really can't understand why it causes so much knicker twisting.
I know the Witches of Eastwick is a very old film now, but I felt it would be apt to rename the more vociferous type of posters the Bitches of Mumsnet.

NastyBlouse · 23/10/2020 11:13

Flowers Cake Brew @mightbealittlebitmad

And anyone else struggling today, or this week

Iheartmysmart · 23/10/2020 11:58

@Reedwarbler I love The Witches of Eastwick! Completely agree with your suggestion of The Bitches of Mumsnet.
I had to pop into the bank earlier in the week and there was a customer in there without a mask. It took me a while to realise what was different about her! That thought saddens me somewhat.

Drakeford is looking into ways of blocking Amazon, etc. we are through the looking glass now.

This morning OH as he does most days in the company of other dog walkers went up into the hills to exercise the dogs. They have put up road closed signs so that you cannot access it

Do you have a link to Drakeford trying to block Amazon? I am in Wales and haven't heard this.

Would love to see him try. How long do you reckon he could stand up to Amazon's lawyers? (If it was easy to control Amazon, they'd pay a lot more tax.)
Bollss · 23/10/2020 12:28

So he wants to close non essential shops, stop supermarkets selling non essentials and also stop Amazon delivering... 2 months before Christmas? Is he a complete and total fucking idiot or?

bibbitybobbitycatz · 23/10/2020 12:30

From the Welsh government webisite - this doesn't sound like there is an attempt to "block Amazon" or any online service.

Shops allowed to remain open include supermarkets and other food retailers, pharmacies, banks and post offices. However, wherever possible people should avoid unnecessary visits to these, and use alternative approaches such as online services and deliveries

110APiccadilly · 23/10/2020 12:48

@justasking111
This is the NHS data, been published today. Numbers going up, but certainly not all critical care beds are full (as Drakeford tried to imply last week). gov.wales/nhs-activity-and-capacity-during-coronavirus-covid-19-pandemic-23-october-2020

@bibbitybobbitycatz Glad there's still some sanity remaining (though I would have genuinely enjoyed watching them try!)

DominaShantotto · 23/10/2020 12:50

Are Wales now just taking their policy suggestions from Mumsnet back in March directly? He'll be putting cheese in his coffee next! (no I will not let the coffee cheese thing go)

justasking111 · 23/10/2020 12:53

From Drakefords lips to your ears just now. New regime from 9th November, well the scots know all about that bless them.

6 weeks in Ireland the poor bastards.

110APiccadilly · 23/10/2020 12:56

This amused me (disclaimer: I know nothing about the website's other views or accuracy!)

Every year our health board weep tears, overwhelmed in the winter, flu, norovirus. Then in the summer tourists. Which tells me our health board need to be organised 52 weeks of the year. One hospital in our health board bragged on FB today that they had re-commenced their cancer ops in September. The support they got from the stupid was unbelievable. six months zero help then woo hoo they did an op.

Meanwhile our Spire hospital is being sent nhs patients from september onwards so are playing catch up for them.

justasking111 · 23/10/2020 12:57

Did you catch the news Drakeford bought a train set this week.
