We've polished off our hotel breakfasts, flocked to the beaches and eaten out to help out with Rishi. Now the D-Day style floatilla of Anti-Dementor boats weather the stormy seas of tiers 1, 2 and 3 and support each other through the calls for lockdown.

Hold on tight and get those bouyancy aids on...

@justasking111

From Drakefords lips to your ears just now. New regime from 9th November, well the scots know all about that bless them.

6 weeks in Ireland the poor bastards.

As I said on the other thread, when did he say that he wants to block Amazon deliveries as well as ban the sale of wild bird seed?
LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 23/10/2020 13:04

I can't see them blocking home deliveries - at leasts I hope not we need our big monthly food shop at end of month and anything else would be amazon.

I'm hoping the orthodontist is still open in second week - google tells me dentists have been given critical worker status for the firebreak so I hope that applies to the orthodontist - it's an already much delayed appointment and her treatment must be way behind original estimates.

@bibbitybobbitycatz seeing as you just joined to harrass me, you need to understand my lack of a response.

I didn't just join to harass you! I've been a member for a long time on and off under different names (cancel the cheque, penis beaker, snapped and farted, milk for cheese etc etc). I was bibbitybobbitycats until recently.

I am not harassing you, but challenging you to provide evidence of what you are asserting. It's a scary time, spreading rumours isn't helpful. If they aren't rumours and you can provide reliable evidence, I apologise in advance.

So we live in Surrey tier 2 ( London Borough), 1/2 a mile away it's tier 1.
Dd is a uni in tier 1 so us not allowed home. I see the logical in this but in three weeks it's her birthday and we'd like to take her out for lunch. In tier 1 she can meet 5 others, but we are not allowed even if we drive to her. But I can't see how her sitting across the restaurant from us any different to sitting with many random others under the same roof. Much as I'd like I won't hug her.
Life is bloody miserable at the moment and I need to see my dd on her birthday. What do you think? Please be kind.

dingit · 23/10/2020 13:29

Btw I've posted here, I dare not on Aibu as I'd be torn to shreds.

bibbitybobbitycatz · 23/10/2020 13:36

I'd say that is fairly low risk dingit. But the tiers you are both in could change in three weeks, There could even be a lockdown of sorts in England by then, who knows.

Bollss · 23/10/2020 13:36

He's on the news now saying the Welsh people understand and you can do without clothes and microwaves for two weeks. Booze is essential tho btw!

He thinks people in Wales want to make a contribution. He's no idea has he?

He also just said it'll get Wales through to Christmas.. what then pal? Another firebreak?? Dick.

He also said chillingly that when the lockdown ends on 9th November they are preparing for the new REGIME!!!

The twat now owns an airport and a train set, what next??

Just go and enjoy your lunch together. We had a party last night for little ones halloween, DILs were there. As grandparents/carers we are exempt I am much higher risk than you.
LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 23/10/2020 13:46

I was reading New scientist today and there are serious suggestions that every two months there should be a planned lockdown - the expected and planned bit is important so people and businees can plan - but to do it around term ends.

They've already said they aren't ruling out another lock down over Christmas.

dingit I don't know - sounds low risk - but I as don't really understand the lockdown teirs and rules in England. I think the Welsh rules for local lockdown are clearer and that clearly wouldn't fall under the local lockdown exceptions for travel here.

Bollss · 23/10/2020 13:49

I missed that. New regime? Sounds ominous!!

Oh brill so every school holiday spent in the confines of my own home. Excellent.

Let's kill all childminders as well and take away their highest earning weeks. Planned or not this is sodding ridiculous.

Do it around term ends, no thanks, entertaining children is more necessary in the holidays.

I thought childminders and nurseries were still open under firebreaks rules as I believe are kinship ie grandparent childcare were there are no alternatives.

List of things you can do upon leaving the house includes childcare.

I'm not wild about having nothing on every school holiday either I have to admit - trying to get preteen and teens on walks so they at leave the house is bloody hard.

I think you should be fine. Go and see your daughter.

I also believe that these restrictions are disproportionate, unjust, and actively harmful. I am in favour of more humanity not less and you seeing your daughter definitely falls into that.

Bollss · 23/10/2020 14:01

They may be allowed to open but if every bugger else is at home barely anyone will be using them... Of course government won't think about this because they all use nannies and have wives to think about this shit. Twats.

How can we survive doing this every 2 months? And not only that but still have harsh restrictions in-between?!

I am sick to death of his fucking existence. It's a fucking absolute joke.

justasking111 · 23/10/2020 14:08

Every year people donate pumpkins to the local zoo, what happens now our zoo is closed again.

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 23/10/2020 14:30

I think most like nurseries have contracts that expect you to pay to keep the place whether you are using it or not.

Some areas also have shortages of childminders I know my DSis would leap at chance of more childminder hours - they can't get full time so are still trying to WFH some days of the week with young child and no childcare all while under threat of redundancy.

I'm not saying childcare isn't being affected. I've been keeping an eye on the council run sport/craft childcare, as we may need this in future, they usually offer every school holiday for older primary and younger secondary children- and that's not showing any signs of coming back.

I'm not avodcating for rolling lockdowns - but just saying it's a serious idea out there that is being suggested to governments.

Personally with a Y11 child I'd really not keen on half terms being extended so she loses yet more actual in class room teaching time.

justasking111 · 23/10/2020 14:45

Saw a yr 13 girl yesterday, she is so fed up last year messed up, now she cannot go back to school because of welsh lockdown. It is hard on them.

justasking111 · 23/10/2020 14:47

I cannot decide today if there are many stupid welsh folk on here on threads or if they are senedd trolls, I am hoping the latter.

I agree they shouldn't lose any term time but it's unbelievably cruel to lock them up every school holiday. All work and no play isn't good for anyone. It's a recurring theme - fun is banned.

I studied Cromwell at school, thought he was a blip in history it seems not.

Elsewhere someone on a thread thinks walks are dangerous because of cattle and sheep who may spread covid. God help us...

I agree.

We usually spend most of the school holidays out and about.

Going forward I'm fully expecting to have less holiday time with them - trying to get more work hours and make progess in very stalled career now youngest is at secondary - so feel I must make most of this diminishing time at same time our options for doing stuff is extremely limited. It's a minor quibble - I'm fully aware so many have it much worse.

We do have plans for halloween and bonfire night -all within the house/garden which we're all looking forward to but yes fun does feel harder to find.
