What is your favourite red wine

I think my taste buds are changing or failing me. I always enjoyed a glass of Shiraz. But not so lately. I like deep, full bodied red wine, not sweet. Hit me with your recommendations please.

Just looked online and Asda have a dark horse Malbec in offer for £7... haven't tried that but their cab sav is exquisite...

I know you have said you are off Shiraz but all Shiraz's are not equal! Try the Hedonist from Waitrose, it's the most gorgeous full bodied red. You cannot compare something very average, like the Jam Shed Shiraz that some have recommended here, that's not a good example of Shiraz!

The closest cousin of Shiraz is Cabernet Sauvignon. Some have mentioned Malbec but CB is an even closer comparison note wise. I love Shiraz and CB but don't enjoy Malbec, it's a bit too 'plummy' for my taste.

I wouldn't bother with Chateauneuf du Pape, if you like (or liked) Shiraz, I'm pretty sure you won't enjoy it, it's a very distinctive taste (dried herbs) and v different to Shiraz.

I love Hedonist but it does evil things to my guts, for some reason.

I love primitivo at the moment, Aldi do a really good one for £5/£6 that I would thoroughly recommend and you can buy online.

Also agree with barefoot. There are nicer wines out there but barefoot is totally reliable. You know what you're getting for a reasonable price.
I buy whichever is on offer - merlot, Shiraz or Malbec.
I tried the Jammy red but it's far too sweet. It needs chilling bit even so it's too much for me

Oooh I see Romanian Pinot Noir mentioned.... Love a glass of Dragon Hills. I remain an Argentinian Malbec fan but the Dragon Hills is tasty. I think it comes from the Virgin Wine Club?
