Watch us wreck the mike, watch us wreck the mike, watch us wreck the mike.
Psych.

Oh well, come on in whatever the laws where you are. Plenty of space in this bubble of sanity Wink

Can't they JUST FUCKING TELL US what these stupid stricter measures are going to be, instead of the usual fucking "dropping hints to test the public reaction", or the usual agenda of keeping the public terrified and docile? Are we going to have to wait even longer for recreational sport (netball), supposed to be starting in just over a week, with carefully planned "Pandemic Modifications"? After telling us that we're too obese to resist the virus, is Saint Boris going to take away our exercise again? Is "two week circuit breaker" going to turn into something much longer, like the original MAMMOTH lie of "we can turn this around in twelve weeks"?

For fuck's sake, Boris, rip off your fucking muzzle and TALK TO US (even though you are an appalling speaker).

On a less shouty note, I still don't understand the benefit of this holy grail of more testing, more testing, more testing. I thought all these "increasing case numbers" are coming about because of more testing, i.e more cases are being found. What does mass testing prove? Are test results not out of date the moment the test is over, since the virus is so easy to catch? Is it all part of the smoke and mirrors to trick us into thinking that more people are dying, whereas actually the virus is becoming less dangerous, as reflected by far fewer people dying?

And for fuck's sake, dementors, stop comparing now to March.

Littlebelina · 19/09/2020 21:54

Yes, can we add "it's beginning to feel like feb/mar" to the bingo card as well as "exponential growth"? Also "if only schools had opened with blended learning"

@InsaneInTheViralMembrane

Have any of you heard of “Cinderella leave”? Apparently it’s a navy thing and it’s about curfews. Say you must be back on the ship by 10 because you’re setting off across the Pacific... rather than take it easy, enjoy some local cuisine and a stroll around the old town - it actually means going in twice as hard to get the job done before curfew.

We’re made of stern stuff us Brits. Just because last orders are at 9:45, I’m failing to see how this will slow us down.

Not heard of cinderella leave but thought the same

Many people go out early and are home around 9 to 10pm. Others go out for the last hour. They will now overlap and be out at the same time so more people in the same space at the same time.

Wanderings · 19/09/2020 22:15

Like the Cinderella leave, with Saint Boris’s usual trick of “I’ll lock you down if you don’t behave”, does that not make people think “we’d better party all the more, while we can”?

Just stop fucking treating us like plebs, Mr. Johnson; remember we pay your wages.

Apparently we don't pay him enough, poor lamb. No wonder he wants to quit and go back to the torygraph if they'll have him, they are not pro lockdown
flower11 · 19/09/2020 22:40

Blended learning gives me the rage. My dc are either in school receiving an education or at home rampaging round the house, interrupting board meetings with choice gems like I've done a poo. Fix my pirate hook now! DH works from home since covid and I work for the NHS. I can't do it again not with crap weather and dark evenings.
Ds needs to learn phonics and how to read I can't do that. He needs to be in school.

He wanted to be PM. He wanted to have been PM - it was the bit in the middle he didn't want.

But in history, he wanted to be the one that got us out of Europe.
He never dreamed he'd be remembered for overreacting to a virus but he can't bear the thought of being remembered for underreacting - in his eyes (and I guess in history's eyes) to THE virus. On a personal level I don't think he likes lockdown measures (his dad is Stanley after all) but overreacting is seen as more caring than underacting.

PickAChew · 20/09/2020 00:07

I imagine that earthworms would explode quite spectacularly if they were fried like mince.

Ds2 came home with a letter saying all staff and pupils were ti wear masks in corridors from Monday. I emailed his teacher saying Ds2? Really? The gist of his reply was haha, probably not! (when I was touring special schools for ds2's secondary placement my spiel was, your official offering is far too mainstream, show me the bits you don't even advertise for the really, really odd kids, please)

DorsetBlueMovie · 20/09/2020 05:20

We're home and survived our holiday! Cornwall was lush (as always) and I didn't murder DH or any of the in-laws. May have totally fucked my liver in the process (to stop me from murdering the in-laws).
Definitely the opposite of a prepper here. I can't bear having stuff in the house and am never happier than when sending stuff to the charity shops etc so full cupboards groaning are my nightmare. Luckily my friend is a bulk-buying maniac so had hoards to the rafters of big roll when the shops got hit by panic buyers before. Does prepping-by-proxy count? Grin

DorsetBlueMovie · 20/09/2020 05:21

BOG roll. Big roll makes it sound like a special brand for massive arses.....

LivinLaVidaLoki · 20/09/2020 06:18

Shall I knock us up a new bingo card later?

Wanderings · 20/09/2020 06:48

Seen the threat of massive fines for those who break self-isolation, to make some big headlines to replace the silence on “new measures”. Will the flying squad on their winger unicorns be enforcing this, just like they do for those who don’t wear face nappies?

Could we also have a £10,000 fine for dropping your face nappy in the street, to give the Covid marshals something useful to do? Oh wait, said marshals can’t arrive yet, their unicorns have Covid...

JamSarnie · 20/09/2020 06:55

Well that will stop a lot of people going for a test. Win win for the government.

Exactly. No bloody way I'm getting a test if any of us get ill. We'll stay at home as best as we can but I'm taking the kids and dog out for a bloody walk - in the country where we won't see anyone - if I want to.

The littered masks I have seen in my neighbourhood boggle the mind. I bin them because I hate litter.
InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 20/09/2020 08:10

I found a discarded mask halfway up a fucking mountain the other week. Either some absolute bellend is scaling hills wearing a face-nappy, or it's been picked up by the wind (or corvid Grin).

I'm absolutely livid with myself. Finally pulled my finger out of my arse last week and ordered new school uniform for my eldest... should've stuck my pennies into pasta & bread flour!

This is a really interesting article about Sweden - it's long but worth a read:

Letter from Sweden

Reedwarbler · 20/09/2020 08:53

My H and I were talking about track and trace last night. Even if you got a phone call, you could just deny it was you and tell them someone must have given them a false number, if you were of a mind to (or just not answer your phone). the system is so far from foolproof. Having seen the chaos of testing we would not bother with that either, but we are retired so have nowhere to go anyway! I do wonder though if this glitch in testing is deliberate. It's obvious that the majority of people who have a tiny bit of covid 19 up their conk are totally unaware of it and it's causing them no harm whatsoever. Could it be the government's way of backing off a bit?

LivinLaVidaLoki · 20/09/2020 08:59

Something else I don't get....the amount of people saying gyms are unnecessary and should close. The ones they have seen look like they're not socially distancing. Note seen, not been in and "look like".
Fuck off.
Most gyms are limiting numbers and behaving responsibly. Given the benefits of exercise on your cardiovascular and respiratory system as well as your mental health...
Why should those of us who go be penalised for taking responsibility for our own health while you stay at home?
And no, going for a daily walk or bike ride isn't the same.

JamSarnie · 20/09/2020 09:09

People moan about the gyms, the pubs, the flights (basically insert whatever you want here) when it isn't an activity they do because they are so righteous and everyone else is the evil granny killing spreading virus vessel.

I like fixing the pirate hook in a board meeting 😂

It is all bloody impossible.

And if they close the gyms I don’t know what I’ll do. I’ve been feeling so much better since back. I’m old and podgy and really need them for my physical and mental health.

110APiccadilly · 20/09/2020 09:36

I have a back problem. During lockdown, I had to swim in the sea because if I don't keep exercising in the right way, I start to lose the ability to put weight on one leg. That was ok because it was summer. If they close the gyms and swimming pools during winter, I'm going to have the choice of the November sea or gradual deterioration of my ability to walk. At 8/9 months pregnant. (I'm extra angry because we'd waited until my back was very well managed before TTC - we had no way of knowing they were about to take one of the tools for managing it away.)

110APiccadilly · 20/09/2020 09:42

Oh, and even swimming in the sea broke "the rulz" as I have to drive a short distance. (Thank goodness for DH, who told me I needed to do it and drove me there the first time to make sure no one was going to try to stop me!)

I updated my apple watch to the new OS this week - and one of the things it added was monitoring how I distribute my weight between legs - and it has got so far off it's pretty dreadful (I have a damaged hip from childbirth - SPD that never went away). Thankfully at least with lockdown I had nowt to spend my last chunk of student loan on so I bought myself a nice mattress which has reduced the pain somewhat at least (Otty - sex on a stick btw).

I was walking a fair whack to uni campus and around campus every day and had got so much fitter - and all of that's gone to shit for the next year and I'll be sat at home with my exercise being moving between the coffee machine and my desk.

Drs they gave shut off 2 of the loos in stafg bathroom!! Seriously keys increase the number of people using the only 2 loos shall We? Coz obviously covid can run down my trouser leg creep under the wall and jump on next doors leg! Yet we can stsnd side by side to wash hands snd dryers are 1 foot apart! Insane!
Upside is we have loads of staff on today to clean place apparently as clean and tidy = no covid lurking! We actually need the most of them just to do the damm job we are expected to do!
