What is on your worktop

Dull I know but reading about very few people having a bread bin made me wonder what do others have on their worktops?

I have the usual kettle, toaster, microwave, I also have a bread bin, fruit bowl, tea and coffee jars, egg basket, utensils holder, a pestal and mortar, a box of tissues, and often a vase of flowers!

Probably over crowded but all my cupboards are full!

So what do you have hidden and what is out on show?

The items out we use daily so it's more for convenience!

@yearinyearout

Kettle, breadbin (how do people store bread without one?) food processor, kitchen roll, couple of oil bottles/salt and pepper.
In the bag it comes in.
Hongsi · 12/09/2020 08:05

Rice cooker, dehydrator, chopstick and utensils holder, instantpot, butterdish, salt pig, small onggi, knife block, rice bins and various bottles of oil and kitchen aid

Chasingsquirrels · 12/09/2020 08:06

Bread board, kettle, toaster, food waste caddy.
Tv, food processor, book/iPad stand.

Utility: recycling box, small laundry basket (much smaller than the one pictured and the Tupperware boxes are now in a cupboard).

Bread is in the fridge.
Otherwise its
Toaster
Kettle
Microwave
Fruit bowl.
Recently moved tea cannisters and kitchen roll holder onto window sill.
I'd love a completely clear worktop and would easily get rid of the microwave and maybe even the toaster and just use the grill. Unfortunately dh wouldnt go for this. Its too way out for his Conservative thinking! 😂

RingtheBells · 12/09/2020 08:07

On my worktop I do stuff on is a fruit bowl and a knife block, my other worktop is seriously cluttered though with microwave, coffee machine, Instant pot, Kitchenaid, air fryer, toaster and bread maker, it also has stuff like colanders hanging above it.

NoGelForHands · 12/09/2020 08:09

I keep the washing up liquid in the cupboard but that's a bit controversial for dh too!!

NoWordForFluffy · 12/09/2020 08:11

DH would have every surface covered if left to his own devices. It is a constant battle!

I have one of those! I'm constantly asking why things have been left on various surfaces! Drives me bonkers.

delilahbucket · 12/09/2020 08:13

Toaster
Kettle
Tea/coffee/sugar canisters
Fruit bowl
Kitchen roll on a stand
Bread bin
Speaker

That's it. Big kitchen and I like it tidy and easy to clean.

FishPalace · 12/09/2020 08:13

Empty work surfaces look weird and sterile to me, unless the kitchen user for some reason regularly does some kitchen activity that requires literally every inch of work surface. Even weirder are the ones that are completely empty, bar a bowl with one carefully-staged butternut squash in it.

mumofftwo · 12/09/2020 08:15

Bread bin kettle toaster tea coffee suger pots and a slow cooker and microwave and the kids juice

inappropriateraspberry · 12/09/2020 08:17

Tea and coffee
Toaster
Kettle
Large bread bin
Utensil pot
Kitchen roll
Radio
Smart meter
Lamp
Orchid
Echo dot
Pot of pens
Banana tree

We have quite a big kitchen!!!

rainysun · 12/09/2020 08:20

I did not include my window, I have a peace lily and radio and a small lamp, also a candle!

I like a kitchen to be warm and cosy but clean and functional!

Ours is quite small but I don't think it looks cluttered, I have plenty space for prepping food

I keeo washing up liquid in the cupboard too Grin
I have a fruit bowl x 2
Toaster kettle slow cooker (all cream)
White soap dispenser

That's it. I use the slow cooker a lot so i tend to keep it out. Microwave is in the utility

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 12/09/2020 08:21

In my round-up, I forgot radio, washing-up stuff, chopping boards and trays.

I’d like my surfaces to be a bit clearer than they are, but kettle and toaster in cupboards seems a bit odd (to me - people can do what they like, obvs).

rainysun · 12/09/2020 08:26

I also keep my washing up liquid in the cupboard! Along with my kitchen roll.

We do have a dishwasher so do not do many dishes by hand.

I do enjoy looking at other people's houses, especially ones for sale and seeing what they have out on show

Kettle, microwave, toaster and kitchen roll.

hypochondriaceveywhere · 12/09/2020 08:43

Kettle, microwave, tea and coffee pots and kitchen roll.

minipie · 12/09/2020 08:50

Fruit bowl
Coffee machine
Washing up caddy

Everything else is tucked away into drawers and cupboards - we have a big larder cupboard with worktop inside that hides quite a lot.

Of course there’s usually paperwork, kids clutter, drying up...

H1978 · 12/09/2020 09:10

Toaster
kettle
coffee machine
bread bin
microwave
fruit bowl
Kitchen roll holder
metal chicken for eggs
Chopping board stand
Ninja chopping machine
Brita filter jug (near sink)
Washing liquid holder with various sponges (sink)
Hand wash (near sink)
Charging dock
Candle
Glass top saver (present from dsis with my name on that I use for decorative purposes)

FallonsTeaRoom · 12/09/2020 09:13

Today? Apart from the toaster, kettle and slow cooker, I have pounds of tomatoes and apples waiting for me to prepare for the freezer.

PontiacBandit · 12/09/2020 09:16

Kettle, Toaster, Coffee Machine, Knife block, fruit bowl, small potato basket, Alexa, kitchen roll. I have a lot of worktop space and hate having stuff out.

chopc · 12/09/2020 09:21

When we were doing our kitchen I was adamant I wanted nothing on the worktop so everything is in a cupboard. Couldn't figure out where to put the fruit basket so that's the only thing out on display

bluerad · 12/09/2020 09:22

I hate clutter so just have a Sonos speaker on mine

BlueSlice · 12/09/2020 09:23

Just the kettle! I like a clear surface and to be able to clean thoroughly.

(But I do have a dresser with clutter on.)

AlwaysInAQ · 12/09/2020 09:24

Coffee machine and milk frother, kitchen roll, block of knives, kettle, toaster, tea canister and chopping board.
Coffee and sugar canisters are in the cupboard as we hardly ever use them
