I think it would be great if Mumsnet could make a black parents section/ section for black users.

@MonkeyToesOfDoom

We don't have equal opportunities. YOU segregated us and YOU continue to do so.

How does anyone here even know you are who you claim you are?
For all anyone here knows you're a 65 year old white edl member that's just trolling and.kicking up a fuss.

Are you suggesting I need to prove my ethnicity? Hmm

sunshinesupermum · 10/09/2020 17:25

I don't need to "include" anyone. I have mixed heritage also. I'm still black.

But you want an exclusively black section, imo that is NOT inclusive of mixed race unless specifically stated. Perhaps you should be asking for a BAME section instead which would be inclusive?

CanWeComeIntoTheOutNow · 10/09/2020 17:26

OK. I got to page 26, determined to read it all before considering commenting or not, but @Dastardlythefriendlymutt's suggestion made me so excited I had to say yes yes yes - a cookery and ingredients thread for those who want to cook and eat food more exciting than Yorkshire pudding!
@PicsInRed what’s the problem? Do you only want black people to chose when they want to be segregated from white people?
Freedom of association is very important.

How do you feel about the Scotsnet and Craicnet boards? Do you think they're problematic and should be deleted? In the interests of preventing "segregation"?

LuckyAmy1986 · 10/09/2020 17:27

YOU segregated us and YOU continue to do so

Are you suggesting all white people are racist?

No.

BAME is anyone not white.

It's pretty clear what a black section would entail.
The same as black hair shops, black salons etc
You could be 67% black, that isn't the point.
Black people aren't a single tone

I only hope a new section is populated by black posters, and not taken over by white people who think they can steam in and take offence on behalf of black people or, even worse, speak for black people. I can’t believe the nerve and I’ve seen it enough on MN over the years.

PatricksRum · 10/09/2020 17:28

@LuckyAmy1986

Are you suggesting all white people are racist?

When someone says black people are being killed are they suggesting all black people?

I think you can figure that out yourself.

Good luck.

Did anyone manage to read what happened?

Unfortunately, it seemed to act as a magnet for people who are hostile to the idea of a Black Mumsnet Topic - people saying the thread was racist.

Even less than that @doadeer
Did anyone manage to read what happened?

I can just see its been deleted.*

From what a read it was decided that this was not a good idea. So there we go 😊 (no actual comments on what you asked about threads and boards)

022828MAN · 10/09/2020 17:33

This might come off as ignorant, and apologies if already answered, but why can't anyone just posted about black beauty/hair/businesses on any of the other boards? Why create more division?

PersephonePromotesEquanimity · 10/09/2020 17:34

Read the thread, 022828MAN.

Kitmerow · 10/09/2020 17:35

@IrmaFayLear do you know want white people to speak out against racism anymore then so they ‘are not part of the problem’

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 10/09/2020 17:36

@022828MAN

Because they might get comments they don't like from people they don't want to allow to post, or white people. They also want it moderated by a black moderator only.
DioneTheDiabolist · 10/09/2020 17:36

Why a BAME section @sunshinesupermum? Do you think that issues faced by Asian Mnetters are the same as those faced by black Mnetters?Confused

BIWI · 10/09/2020 17:41
@midgebabe never known any of those topics to specifically exclude a certain race / sexuality etc.
Nobody would be excluded from any topics. Don't make stuff up just to put forward your own racist POV.

Soontobe60 · 10/09/2020 17:42

Do you know that the first person to comment is actually white?

PatricksRum · 10/09/2020 17:42

@DioneTheDiabolist

Why a BAME section *@sunshinesupermum*? Do you think that issues faced by Asian Mnetters are the same as those faced by black Mnetters?Confused
This is my point.
OP posts:
Gardenfish · 10/09/2020 17:43

This is the problem with being white, some times your not aware that there is a problem.

But point taken.

Codexdivinchi · 10/09/2020 17:43

You should probably read the whole thread.

Zorbathegeek · 10/09/2020 17:43

022828MAN

Since you brought it up, yes your does come across as ignorant. If you read this thread you'll have your answer, clear as day. Just read the thread. So many people have wasted their precious bloody time explaining these points over and over and over and over. It is really not difficult. Read the damned thread, at least.

Kitmerow · 10/09/2020 17:44

@BIWI have you not read this thread? It’s exactly what is being requested on this new topic. It’s not me who is being racist.
