Brother in 70's . Friend gave CPR . He must be gone ,don't you think ?
Anyone know if the airlifting might indicate that there was some thought that he might survive ?

Gosh that’s amazing, I hope he continues to improve. Being able to read is a great sign.

I hope his partner is bearing up, it must be such a tough time for her too.

peridito · 12/09/2020 15:49

It's a much worse time for his partner .She has had all the trauma of giving CPR ,watching them work on him before putting in helicopter ,driving to the hospital alone through holiday traffic following the helicopter .All the nightmare of him being so poorly in hospital ,all the driving back and forth every day .All the updating of the various sets of friends ,family and sub sets .

And she is at pains to make sure that his siblings don't feel excluded and that she's not stepping on any toes .

You would not believe this woman. To whom ( amongst others )we owe my brothers life .

We are not an amazing or a lovely family ,believe me !

What a lovely update. He's got a long road ahead of him, but, I'm delighted for you all.

Emergency medicine and ICU are amazing.

Hang in there.

We should all learn CPR in schools and work places

DanFmDorking · 13/09/2020 13:26

@nitsandwormsdodger
CPR is to be added to the school curriculum. I'm not exactly sure when but they did say 2020.
See here, here and here.

“Norway has been teaching CPR in schools for many years and the increase in bystander CPR is the main reason that they have survival rates as high as 25% compared to the UK’s 10%. We would really encourage supporters to respond to the government consultation.”

DanFmDorking · 14/09/2020 18:41

Sorry @peridito I didn't mean to hijack the thread.
I hope your brother is feeling better today.

peridito · 14/09/2020 20:26

Golly @DanFmDorking don't apologise ! How grateful am I that my brother's partner knew how to give CPR .

Guess how much I want as many as possible to be shown how to do it !

I'm glad it's being discussed .

Brother still improving Star Glitterball Star
