Brother in 70's . Friend gave CPR . He must be gone ,don't you think ?
Anyone know if the airlifting might indicate that there was some thought that he might survive ?

I’m sorry to hear this news Perdito. I’m glad to hear that you are travelling to see him and be a support for his DP.

GazingAndGrazing · 04/09/2020 23:34

Aww, I’m so so sorry.

Thoughts are with you and I know it’s not much but we are all here for you Flowers

www.suddencardiacarrestuk.org - this is a peer support group, they may be able to offer some information and advice. Unfortunately even when the very best and fastest treatment is given, sudden cardiac arrest is often unsuccessful. Flowers

Just to echo all the other posters.

Sorry to hear its such a bleak outcome, but its good you are able to see some "positives" (being spared old age / becoming infirm etc)

Your DB's partner sounds amazing and I hope you are able to find comfort in each other.

peridito · 07/09/2020 10:25

Yes DP's partner is amazing x 10000000. Best thing that ever happened to my brother .

Since yesterday his responses have increased a little .So a fresh layer of uncertaintity and misery .

What an awful, awful limbo.

I hope that you all get some more clarity soon. Like events haven't been cruel enough already.

Keep strong.

I have been wary of posting in case things didn't continue ,but my brother is improving.
A lot ! He is sitting up ,talking ,recognising people ,reading ,and moving his legs !
How incredible is that ? I have no idea how this has been possible .Less than a week ago the consultant was raising the possibility of nutrition being withdrawn.

OP that's remarkable, and terrifying in equal measure. I'm so pleased for you but also shocked at how close he came to having support withdrawn. Medicine really is a mystery! Thanks
peridito · 12/09/2020 03:21

It's hard for me to judge how close that was .

We had a very frank talk with the consultant and we weren't at the point of nutrition being withdrawn .It was a step that could be taken further down the road if he remained unresponsive .My impression was that it wasn't much further down the road ,but not immediate .
If that makes sense .

Wow that is incredible! And wondeful to read. Well done to his partner too.
I performed CPR on my lovely dad last year but sadly wasn't successful.

Just read the thread from the beginning and then your last updates. What fantastic news that he's doing better. How amazing to go from not breathing to sitting up and chatting in just a couple of weeks. Look after yourself OP you've been through the mill trying to process all of this.
