The more I think about it the more I would love to go back to that time. I was too young to appreciate it fully (born 83).

I think it was a great time to be a kid and I’d imagine it would have been great to be an adult too. I really hate the world my children are growing up in Sad

InDeoEstMeaFiducia · 15/08/2020 19:42

Yes, but only if I could go back with my 50-year-old mind and all its experience.

QueenOfWinterfell · 15/08/2020 19:42

Yes I would. Life wasn’t as complicated as it is now.

Timeforabiscuit · 15/08/2020 19:43

In a heartbeat! So glad it was a decade I lived in.

Yes I would those were the days!! Bernards watch, the worst witch and the Queens nose my favourite TV shows as a child!

Bluewavescrashing · 15/08/2020 19:44

Yup! Build me a time machine please!

Stillinbedat10am · 15/08/2020 19:44

I was born the same year as OP and would absolutely go back to the late 90's. Life was so simple and full of opportunities and I was so slim!

I go slightly back to the 90's every morning now as I recently took to wearing Body Shop white musk as my day-to-day fragrance again. Several people of my age have noticed and complimented me on it.

MaudebeGonne · 15/08/2020 19:44

I would love to go back to the 90s and tell my early twenties self to buy a house instead of spending all my money on clubbing and cabs...

MercuryRising · 15/08/2020 19:45

Yes!! Great music!! No mobile phones dominating our every waking moment!! I would go back and be a teen in the 90s in a heartbeat!!

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 15/08/2020 19:47

Yes, and I would not not pluck my eyebrows into oblivion and bunk off.

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 15/08/2020 19:48

Sorry, extra not there!

NameChange84 · 15/08/2020 19:48

I really don’t know as my childhood was shit. I loved being a teen in the 00s.

However older family members who were in their 20s in the 90s had a much easier time of things.

Dating seemed easier and they all settled down and had kids no problem with none of the OLD shit, everything being pornified, no one wanting to commit etc.

No student debt.

Walked into grad jobs and could buy property at a young age.

However I hate the music and the fashion of the time!

In all honesty, I wouldn’t have minded being a boomer! Think I would have fitted in better then.

Yes, back to the days before there were so many chavs around, when the police would actually bother to tackle speeding, anti-social behaviour etc., before we had so many self important/self obsessed people being obnoxious in shops, public places, etc. I remember the 90s as a time when people had respect for authority and other people.

Ilikewinter · 15/08/2020 19:50

In a heartbeat id go back, I turned 21 in 1997 and was having the time of my life....I would also impart some words of wisdom and change that 'sliding doors moment' which happened in 2001 🙈

Barbadosgirl · 15/08/2020 19:52

Likewinter do tell!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 15/08/2020 19:52

Hell yes!!!
When kids dressed like kids- in Tammy clothes- rather than in Zara with a face full of contour
When Saturday night tv was decent
When you could park and shop without bastard pcns coming through the door weeks later
When clip art was a fun afternoon
Sigh!!!

Blackcurrant66 · 15/08/2020 19:53

Yes. The 90s was a decade of stability and optimism. We thought liberal western values were spreading worldwide and things would only get better for all of us.

How wrong we were but it was a fantastic time to be young.

Beaniebeemer · 15/08/2020 19:53

Oh yes 02 was epic!! Why oh why don’t they bring it back. We would buy it by the bucket load!

The 90s for me was the decade of working, getting married, everyone else getting married, buying houses, more working. So fun inasmuch as I had money, of which I spent a lot on clothes and in wine bars! But not a carefree time. It would be the 80s I'd go back to. Although I've always had a fancy to live in the early 1960s.

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 15/08/2020 19:56

Hell yes!!! Though it still is the 90's in my head 😂

Notgoingonholiday · 15/08/2020 19:56

Omg best memories. Loved school and my friends, getting into night clubs and pubs under age (impossible now I'd imagine), first music gigs, concerts, uni from 95 to 98, more clubbing (all night), Glastonbury, basic mobile phone in 1999, no social media....So many good things.

Beaniebeemer · 15/08/2020 19:57

I might be having a bit of a crisis at the moment but I find myself watching tv shows from that era and use it as escapism from what is going on right now. Is that weird and sad? It’s like a coping mechanism!

@Beaniebeemer My So Called Life is an essential watch!

Craftycorvid · 15/08/2020 20:01

I was mid-20s and at uni’. I did enjoy those years but would only go back with my 50-something nous! I wonder what me now would make of it all?
