I know it’s a classic but somehow I’ve never watched it.
So I’m about an hour in and I just wanna get this straight ..

Carrie meets Charles. They sleep together. Charles finds out she’s in fact engaged and meets her fiancé. They sleep together again. And then she takes him with her to pick out a wedding dress .. that’s as far as I’m up to

What is happening here Confused I thought these two were one of the most iconic and popular couples in romcom history I had no idea this is how the relationship started 😂😂

I didn't get that Scarlett was Charles's sister. I thought they were flatmates. Are you mixing it up with Notting Hill? There was a quirky character in that and she was HG's character's sister. In FWAAF, the quirky one was a flatmate. I think!
Err...no. I'm not mixing the films up. Honey was the quirky sister in NH. Scarlett was, I thought HGs flatmate in FWAAF but others are saying she's his sister.

But it doesn't make sense Scarlett being Charles's sister. Surely if she was, she'd be communicating in sign language with David like Charles does, but she doesn't....-towards the end when they're discussing the wedding that didn't happen, Charles has to interpret.

Definitely not his sister. An interview with a friend of Charlotte talked about her , and said Charlotte had loved playing Charles 's wacky flatmate.

I’m so happy to see others love Muriels wedding, one of my all time favourite films. I bought it on dvd recently as dh had never seen it. The story round her mum is just heartbreaking.
Strictly ballroom is another cracking film as well and so under rated!

Strangely enough I have finally bought 'Muriel's wedding ' too on DVD! Been looking for a while to buy it. I had it taped on the free view box for ages but it was deleted by mistake somehow and the internet sites only had very expensive or used ones for sale up until a few weeks ago when I saw they had one for sale that was new and less than a fiver , so I now finally have my own copy ( the film is 25 years old now I think ?!) I did have it on VHS tape , but we don't have a machine that works anymore.
Not seem strictly ballroom before , but I've heard it's good. It's never on tv though !

I first saw this film in my twenties and loved every moment of it. Saw it again a few years ago and realized what a jerk Charles is. If Hugh Grant hadn't played him with such self-deprecating charm, it would have been a completely different movie. Fiona and Duckface had narrow escapes. Nice right hook, Hen!

The rest of the movie is hilarious!
