It's going to be 35 degrees here by midday apparently (East of England) and I can't decide what to do. I've had all week off work and haven't achieved a lot... So far I've done yoga and had breakfast!

What is everyone up to - embracing or hiding from the heat?!

@Aragog sorry to hear about your grandma. What a lovely way for her to want to be celebrated Flowers

It's now about 35 degrees here and I've enjoyed a lovely lunch in my bf's big sunny garden. He's now gone back to work inside and I'll finish my ice lolly then read in the shade I think. Next door's loud grime music is slightly spoiling it however... Confused

I’m packing to go away for a few days and bemoaning the fact that although I haven’t gained a lot of lockdown weight, it’s just enough to mean that all my cool linen stuff no longer fits.

We’re leaving this evening but we’re going next door for a splash under their sprinkler later, so I need to get off MN and get my arse in gear. Someone give me a kick please!!!

FromTheAllotment · 07/08/2020 13:46

Flowers sorry for your loss Aragog

starfish4 · 07/08/2020 13:46

Hoovering and ironing out of the way early. Had a SD coffee with a friend in her garden. Musts for rest of the day are making tea and watering the garden. Other jobs, sorting out paperwork, repotting a couple of plants, dusting, but if they don't get done they don't get done - my book is sat on the table in front of me when I've said goodbye to Mumsnet!

Flowers and (ice cream) Cake for all those for whom the heat makes you ill

Sorry for your loss aragog. Your gran sounds lovely asking for you to not wear black and remember her. Such a pleasant and thoughful woman.

Clippertyclopperty · 07/08/2020 14:06

I'm so jealous of those of you not experiencing roasting heat! It's 37 degrees on our street and we are melting, the pavement is scorching.

DrCoconut · 07/08/2020 14:08

I'm having a late lunch break outside. It's pleasantly warm here not hot.

Bluebellpainting · 07/08/2020 14:10

Currently lying on the floor in the dark nursery trying to get my son to nap. It is the coolest place in the house so may lay here after he has gone to sleep. We his afternoon going to set up the paddling pool for him and use it to cool off as well. I hate the heat.

FrontToBackTree · 07/08/2020 14:12

Nothing. Sat on my arse with the AC on. I won't be going outside until Monday.

Aguarai · 07/08/2020 14:17

17c here (north Scotland), I have been in a hoodie most of the day Grin

Sophiesdog2020 · 07/08/2020 14:19

FrontToBackTree

I’ll do you a swap. We on holiday in W Wales, it’s a pea souper and 16 degrees, fog forecast all night. Maybe some sun tomorrow.

DH & his family think this place is best thing since sliced bread and don’t understand why I want to go home for some sun.

FrontToBackTree · 07/08/2020 14:23

god I would love to live in Wales. I'd be happy if the sun never shone again!

FlamingoAndJohn · 07/08/2020 14:31

I have set up camp in the garden.
The top of the garden is 34°.

It’s still warm down here, but not so bad.

So what are you up to in today's heat?
VincaMinor · 07/08/2020 14:34

We are indoors with the blinds shut. Will go for a walk, mow the lawn and hose the garden this evening when it's cooler

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/08/2020 14:36

We lent a car, drove the accumulated stuff (20 years of old matresses, defect screens, unworkable chairs etc. ) to the recycling, drove by IKEA, got DD and DS furniture, drove back home, brought them up to the fifth floor by stair and now I'm preparing to assemble the lot, before I give the now 'de-rubbished' flat a clean.
Before I start, we'll go and have sth to eat.

ButterflyRuns · 07/08/2020 14:37

I have two newborns to deal with so I’m stuck hot and bothered in my house, I’ve got the tub of Ben & Jerry’s out though and the patio doors wide open!

Piggywaspushed · 07/08/2020 14:48

36 degrees here. One foot in a paddling pool. Due to boil myself to death doing a BBQ in a shadeless South facing garden. Aircon in my bedroom upstairs was on at 10 am and the temperature has gone up!

Fed up a bit of the smell of fumes from all the boy racers exhausts!

Toilenstripes · 07/08/2020 14:49

DH and I just wolfed down some ice cream whilst sitting in front of a fan. Might be doing the same later with wine.

Strawberrycreamsundae · 07/08/2020 14:59

It’s clouded over here near Bath but still horribly muggy. I’m sitting inside with the fan on trying to cool down. Like AlternativePerspective I have a heart condition (heart failure), restricted fluids and need to stay out of the sun. Add being very short of breath to that and it’s hard work at the moment 🙄
DH is mowing the lawn, the heat/humidity doesn’t bother him at all luckily!

Sophiesdog2020 · 07/08/2020 15:26

@FrontToBackTree

I generally love Wales too, but stuck on a farmers field, no facilities (and I mean none!) so the only attraction is the nearby beach, is great in sunshine - not so nice in the fog and worse when the rest of the country is having a heatwave!

I normally can cope with a long weekend for family harmony (DH has to return annually, usually when PIL here) but this year it has become our main holiday, for obvs reasons!

menofharlech · 07/08/2020 15:31

@Strawberrycreamsundae you are near me. Muggy and humid and rainy.

I've given up on work for the day and am lying in my bedroom hiding for everyone else feeling sweaty.

tigerbear · 07/08/2020 15:51

It’s 36 where I am in London, and just arrived at an outdoor lido. Can’t wait to jump in!

BillywigSting · 07/08/2020 15:58

We are thoroughly gorged on ice cream and practically had to waddle home. A proper dinner is looking vanishingly unlikely and we'll probably just have a couple of sandwiches or something later.

Properly clouded over here now so is unpleasantly humid and muggy. Going to spend the rest of the day hiding inside with the blinds closed and the windows open in the hope of a breath of air.

AlwaysLatte · 07/08/2020 16:07

My house is very old with thick walls so it's very cool - I'm taking refuge inside! Off to Cornwall tomorrow so I'll enjoy the sunshine then instead.
