Hmm countrygirl so it's a funding issue not a pseudo-safety issue at NHS dentists.

Because teeth aren't Covid and it's the NCS now (National Covid Service)

ButterMeCrumpets · 31/07/2020 12:47

@Allflightscancelled

The prime minister says the rules on face coverings will be extended "to other indoor settings where you're likely to come into contact with people you do not normally meet such as museums, galleries, cinemas and places of worship. We now recommend face coverings are worn in these settings and this will become enforceable in law from the 8 August," Boris says

So that's me not going to any of these places then. Same. I fancied a bit of culture

Same here. Just said to DH I'll change our holiday itinerary from museums to something else. Typically we like to wander around one or two but I think we will just find something else we like instead and given that museums tend to be quite pricey in the uk outside of London it will save us some pennies.
ButterMeCrumpets · 31/07/2020 12:49

And at this rate we may end up not bothering with a uk holiday if they continue with the last minute changes. Everything I have booked can be cancelled but just getting to the point where I can't be bothered with it all.

bakingcupcakes · 31/07/2020 12:53

I've booked a few days away in august but after the 8th. I could cry. I really don't want to be masked everywhere.

I've got the fear about school again too. If they don't open and there's no other childcare I'm going to end up losing my job and then we'll have no income.

I feel like giving up. If this is what life is going to be like from now on I'd rather not bother.

Allflightscancelled · 31/07/2020 12:53

I suppose it depends what you can enjoy whether a holiday is going to be worth it. We like a bit of culture and stuff but we also enjoy a bit of beach hogging and walking when the weather is nice. We've just had a lovely ten days in Dorset doing, frankly, bugger all. We feel very rested and it hasn't cost us much apart from a few meals out, which were less dementory experiences than I'd feared.

I know what you mean about can't be bothered though. Roolz keep proliferating and, as we try to avoid being driven crazy by them, our horizons just keep shrinking.

justasking111 · 31/07/2020 12:55

Question to all,

Our police have vanished no worry they will tap you on the shoulder. Have they backed off or are no longer considered necessary re covid.

Allflightscancelled · 31/07/2020 12:58

I had to take part in a zoom meeting while I was away about how FE colleges are planning to operate next term. Wowzers, that was depressing.

torydeathdrug · 31/07/2020 13:02

@Allflightscancelled what are they planning?

Allflightscancelled · 31/07/2020 13:07

Just basically loads of online stuff and very little time on campus, if any (depending on courses). At most a few hours of teaching on campus per week, and only allowed on campus if you have a session with a tutor.

For courses where tutor face to face time can happen online, then it will and you won't come in at all.

Varies from college to college of course, but that's it in a nutshell

Orangeblossom78 · 31/07/2020 13:10

Do you think we have to wear them in gyms and pools now then? (imagines weird swimming ones, with filtered snorkel perhaps) maybe in the lobby..

Mrsfrumble · 31/07/2020 13:16

Will the same exemptions apply? We’ve been looking forward to being allowed in museums and galleries again, but not if I have to force my children to keep masks on.

countrygirl99 · 31/07/2020 13:16

Definitely heading towards having to wear them in bed. Might give some people a kick I suppose.

Allflightscancelled · 31/07/2020 13:21

I thing the way things are going we'll be having to have them permanently grafted to our faces. But not by the NHS because they're only doing COVID now. And we don't have it.

bookworm14 · 31/07/2020 13:22

My anxiety is back with a vengeance. They are going to stop schools opening in September, I just know it.

I can’t do this again.

ISaySteadyOn · 31/07/2020 13:26

Domina Flowers

Do they want people to go to museums and galleries? Or is this to put people off?

I used to love London for its museums and interesting places but masks will forbid them to me and the DC unless the exemptions apply.

And, yes, I think people have started to believe in miasma theory again. Ffs.

Unless this situation improves surely it would not be fair to open schools in some areas and not in others

Just another thought, NS tends to open things 2 weeks later than England so although she has been boasting about their low rates it could simply be that they are a couple weeks behind the rest of the UK...

ButterMeCrumpets · 31/07/2020 13:32

DH wants to do lots of walking about and hiking on holiday so in that sense we are ok. I like to eat a lot Blush which means again we should be ok for restaurants and pubs.

But I had pencilled in a couple of days of sightseeing including museums. The key thing now is do I cancel the part in the city and extend the coast part. Plus I don't want to have to keep telling DH it will be ok as he gets a bit gloomy when restrictions come back about the future. Think I might be spending this weekend looking at alternatives.

Orangeblossom78 · 31/07/2020 13:32

(sorry just realised that sounded a bit dementory it wasn't meant to, just thinking of the schools opening there which I was hoping might go well and therefore be encouraging)

Orangeblossom78 · 31/07/2020 13:33

Beaches, forests, mountains lakes, anything like that would be OK?

wownasty123 · 31/07/2020 13:33

Had a private message round robin, not on MN messaging telling me I/we should stay off this thread, am a troll, bot, apparently, and there are a few of us whose cards are marked, changed name for protection. Well sorry if I cannot agree with everything said, but that does not make me a bad person. This is hurtful to be honest.

I wish you all well up the anti dementors.

Shodan · 31/07/2020 13:36

I was talking to ds2 about going back to school the other day (or rather, he was talking to me really).

He's looking forward to it so much, I couldn't bear it if they stopped them opening.

He did say he'd be quite happy to wear a mask, if it meant he could go back... It's not something I want but tbh if he's happy with it, then fair play.

I suppose it's better than not being allowed back to school.

Allflightscancelled · 31/07/2020 13:38

wownasty sorry, what happened? Do you think the message was from someone who posts on here, or from someone who doesn't like the anti dementor threads? I'm confused. Sounds horrible though Flowers

Orangeblossom78 · 31/07/2020 13:38

a private message round robin, not on MN

Do you mean on FB? Sorry to hear that

MovingToCardiff · 31/07/2020 13:44

Haven't been here in a while but just popping back in to say...FFS.

Is this even real life anymore?? It's just getting ridiculous.

I do feel the tide is turning though. Most people I know have completely lost track of the rules now and just do what seems sensible.

The code name for the current plan to tackle corona virus is known as operation ‘pissing in the wind’

Not since the dinosaurs tried to stop a huge asteroid with ‘roaring’ has a plan been so poor.

Meanwhile the permanently offended are trying to get Covid-19s twitter account taken down fo being fatist, racist and ageist amongst others
