He stood me up, now he's texted. Gather round ladies

For those who followed my thread from yesterday about being stood up. Well guess what? He's just texted. Note its not on WhatsApp. Heres what he said "sorry I couldn't make lunch the other day (yesterday!) Something came up I couldn't get out of. If I could've made it I would have"

Classic. Any witty replies?

@EveningNibble

Don’t worry about it, I had a fabulous time without you
This one!!!!!! With a laughing face
WhosThatGirl89 · 26/07/2020 21:03

Of course you're right I shouldn't reply and I won't. But I think any woman who gets stood up, no matter how many dates you've been on, would like an explanation. I've been ghosted many times and this is the first time the guy has actually messaged after the fact

YoBeaches · 26/07/2020 21:04

It's this from a pp... God he’s a knob.

But in current person... my God you're a knob!

Text THAT and see what he says. Dick,

TheGodmother · 26/07/2020 21:04

Please don't reply. Just block and move on. Be glad you dodged the bullet.

Silence drives these wankers mad! Do not lower yourself to reply.

JamesArthursEyelashes · 26/07/2020 21:04

Any reply shows him you’re bothered. Just ignore the time wasting twat.

YoullFloat · 26/07/2020 21:05

Surely you arrange another date and don't turn up.

Downunderduchess · 26/07/2020 21:05

Don’t respond. Honestly who cares about a witty riposte, he isn’t worth the effort. Go & live your life happily, leave him to his.

ContessaferJones · 26/07/2020 21:05

I'd be tempted to send "Oh, aye" and then block Grin

MatildaTheCat · 26/07/2020 21:05

‘Something I couldn’t get out of’
A) prison
B) straight jacket.
C) taking your wife shopping.

Can’t imagine why he’s single.

WizardOfAus · 26/07/2020 21:06

OP, there was a thread on here at the beginning of the year about a girl who was DUMPED by text after THREE years. Her boyfriend messaged her in the middle of the night saying they weren’t working out and he signed off with, “no need to reply.”

The amazing thing is, she didn’t reply (Despite being desperate to) and it drove her ex-boyfriend absolutely batshit crazy. He ended up bombarding her with texts saying things like, “don’t you think you’re being horribly childish by not responding.” And also sent her messages trying to reminisce about their time together. She didn’t reply. NOT ONCE. And that bastard ex-boyfriend learnt a hard and horrible lesson.

Find that thread. It’s a fucking master class in walking away with dignity.

jessstan2 · 26/07/2020 21:06

Do not have any more to do with him. Unless he's in hospital with neck in traction.

Yetiyoga · 26/07/2020 21:07

@jessstan2 are you a youtube fan? ;)

Russellbrandshair · 26/07/2020 21:07

Honestly- you don’t need closure from this or to know why. You can get that from yourself. Men who do this aren’t exactly the most emotionally intelligent creatures and half the time even THEY don’t know why they do it. They simply arent that self aware or self reflective. They just make impulsive decisions in the moment based on what their ego tells them to do.

You want to know why he ghosted you? Because that’s what he does and he’ll do it all over again to someone else. Please stop searching for the explanation within you. There isn’t one. He ghosts because he’s a ghoster. That’s it!

TenShortStories · 26/07/2020 21:08

"Totally understand, I had a friend who had a toileting accident a few mins away from a date once too. These things happen to people who find dating nerve-wracking, it's nothing to be ashamed of, perhaps bring spare undies next time you meet someone though... just in case?"

Then block before he can reply and set you straight.

allinadaystwerk · 26/07/2020 21:08

I would definitely do the laughing emoji then nothing else ever, Or, I'm 2 seconds away from giving a fuck. Cheery bye

popcornlover · 26/07/2020 21:08

@WhosThatGirl89 ah, ok, so online. They’re not worth the hassle. I think women should plan a mass online dating exodus and leave them to date themselves.

Russellbrandshair · 26/07/2020 21:08

This is the best thing I’ve read in ages!! 😆

Ernieshere · 26/07/2020 21:09

WizardOfAus I remember that one!

wildcherries · 26/07/2020 21:12

Thumbs up emoji. Then silence. It's all he deserves.

Chuly · 26/07/2020 21:13

What possible explanation would make you feel better? At best there would be some lame ass excuse of a family member needing assistance, or similar.

You already know that it wasn't a "shit, I dropped my phone down a drain a couple of streets away from the restaurant, and then a white van drove over my head whilst I was looking for it" situation.

TheSecondMrsAshwell · 26/07/2020 21:13

There's your answer right there:

"I'd have FB'd you, but I can't remember your last name."

MrsJackRackham · 26/07/2020 21:15

The classic Scottish 'Did it, aye? 🤨' always works a treat. Or a gif can say a thousand words.

RedPandaFluff · 26/07/2020 21:16

I smell a wife/girlfriend!

So @SunshineOnATrainToday's response is perfect, then nothing further - it will give him The Fear so bad Grin

"It was funny, I ended up eating lunch with someone who turned out to know you. That was a really enlightening conversation (laughing emoji)"

Ashiia · 26/07/2020 21:16

It's the blocking that would baffle me the most.

So he decided not to come for whatever reason but why block you on WhatsApp?

My money is on him being married/in a serious relationship and was rumbled or about to be.

I wouldn't reply at all.

I got stood up some years ago and was pondering whether to let him know he was a dickhead. I decided to keep a dignified silence and I'm glad I did.

category12 · 26/07/2020 21:16

A bit late in the day, but I think I'd have said "LOL" and blocked.
