@Omfgwhatajoke

Long time lurker here, supermarket worker and all round sick to the back teeth of this shit. Just when it seemed like stuff was kind of getting back to normal. Went for lovely drinks and a meal Saturday night, it was so wonderful to hear people having a good time with their friends in public. Got something in my eye when I looked at DP holding my hand across the table and saying what a good time he was having.

Woken up this morning to the news of masks and I just wish my life was anything but retail. Luckily I'm only part time so there's people in worse boats than me but it'll be so fucking shit wearing a mask for 8 hours a day. It'll put some regulars off, for sure.

Fuck this fucking shit.

Me too. People have been 99% reasonable, it's the fuckwits that drive me mad. I can see trouble ahead.
SockYarn · 14/07/2020 09:30

Well I'm one who won't be shopping. DD and I had a lovely trip out in the tiny window between shops opening and muzzles being compulsory.

Won't be doing it again as there is just no pleasure in it.

And the dementors have switched in the blink of an eye from "you're a murderer if you eat crisps on a park bench" into "if you're a decent human being you will wear a mask".

DominaShantotto · 14/07/2020 09:31

hiddendisabilitiesstore.com/hidden-disabilities-face-covering.html

I've ordered this and a lanyard (and ones for the kids if it gets that toxic out there). I feel like such a fraud claiming a disability to exempt me from it - but then I get Disabled Student's Allowance, partially for my mental health issues, I'm on daily medication and monthly appointments with the GP and it's at a level where I'm struggling to function - so I think I should really just get a grip and accept it's where I am.

Went for that one rather than a print it yourself one as I'm hoping it's got more of an aura of credibility about it - and the sunflower scheme's got fairly well known.

My brother (who has lost the plot completely and is a wanker at the best of times) was demanding my mum makes my kids wear facemasks when she has them. My mum knows my views on this but seriously - where the fuck do people get off thinking they have the right to demand I truss my communication-impaired child's face up?!

Drivingdownthe101 · 14/07/2020 09:31

I’ve already seen the ‘if you agree with masks in shops then they need to be made compulsory in schools’ comments starting.

Shodan · 14/07/2020 09:32

@Worldgonecrazy They are aren't they? Grin
@Mascotte That is weird! But then we're all of like minds on here about other things so maybe not such a coincidence after all...

SeaOtterFluff · 14/07/2020 09:34

@Mrsfrumble

That’s the thread I was on *@ISaySteadyOn*. You’re best off hiding it; some of the posts are vile.

I’ve taken it as an excuse to buy a couple more handy bands from Seasalt. They’re useless in terms of protecting me from the plague, but they fulfill the “face covering” criteria so will do. I utterly refuse to buy disposable ones. The waste, both in terms of them being thrown away, and them being rendered ineffective by 95% of people wearing them incorrectly, really boils my piss.

I’m still so sore this morning after last night’s fall. I slept really badly because the pain woke me up every time I moved in my sleep.

I think we're twins. I have a sore coccyx that is making sleep difficult after falling over (not having a fall, despite what my DCs say) and I've ordered 2 Seasalt handybands this morning! Ibuprofen and coffee to get through the day.

Main reason I didn't resign as a governor last night - I want to be there to fight that one tooth and nail.

DD1's being getting some shit from one of the kids in her bubble. In a group of 7 there's not much escape really and they are all fed up to fuck of each other. School have set up for transition meetings today - chairs spaced 2m away in a circle on the field... it looks like an Alcoholics Anon meeting out there.

I want out of this fucking world (and I'm now changing over my happy pills so I'm going to be in for a shit ride anyway)

SockYarn · 14/07/2020 09:36

DH struggles with masks too, he was all for them until I sent him to do the weekly shop yesterday and found how sweaty and awful they were.

So my job later is to turn two old t-shirts and a UV rash vest into a snood type thing.

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 14/07/2020 09:36

I wonder how many people will realise they have some level of hearing impairment thanks to masks and screens.

In my family it tends to be something people are quite resistant to admitting and I think a lot of people skate by by sort of lip reading.

Allnamesaregone · 14/07/2020 09:40

I’ve decided I won’t be shopping apart from the supermarket.
We’ve been through a whole pandemic without them and now this?
I’ll be shopping online, but I’ve also realise there’s a lot of stuff I don’t actually need and that I can do without.

Also, there isn’t going to be a vaccine. I’ve said this all along. Immunity to coronavirus s only lasts a few months.

chocolatesweets · 14/07/2020 09:46

Had a busy weekend with family and friends and feel so much better. Also had a massive blowout with my df, who's been a bit of a d. God it felt good. Told him it's a lot easier for some people to be scared.

Throughout lockdown I've felt like I am being stamped on and other people are using me to keep their heads above water- that's the only way I can explain how I'm feeling about it all. And I'm in a good position...sahm, dh works from home. I can't imagine how families with children with additional needs feel like. They don't get a break. Basically every support avenue is put on hold due to the virus. And those who have been refused cancer treatment, it's a disgrace! And those in care homes, who've been alone. It's torture, and I don't understand why not many people can see it and are still focusing on the virus.

With telling my df where to go , I basically felt like I was telling them all to fuck off.

I understand the virus is dangerous obviously but there's a difference in taking precautions and shutting yourself off to the world. A disgrace.

Allflightscancelled · 14/07/2020 09:46

@Shodan

Those rings are beauties!!!!

RosieLemonade · 14/07/2020 09:49

It’s all so tedious and boring. I never thought it would be going on so long. I’m so frustrated and fed up. The joy of life is gone and I trundle on for my DD. I honestly think if I didn’t have her I would commit suicide at the second wave.

DominaShantotto · 14/07/2020 09:49

This site is insane. I made the mistake of posting on a car seat thread the other day and someone has just PMed me in concern that I might not know how tall my own child is! I'm like, yes we made her grow every single bloody centimetre before she was allowed out of the booster.

I miss the days of general car seat sanctimony and fruit shoot related bonkersness.

MuzzlesOff · 14/07/2020 09:50

The masks thing has me properly raging. Like actual fire in the belly angry.
This is all such a nonsense.

Willow2017 · 14/07/2020 09:58

I got an email regarding our schools going back.
Fullish time Mon -Thurs and only extra hand washing no masks for kids. Ppe available for teachers if required for first aid kind if close contact. Surprisingly non hysterical and factual.😁

NannyPhlegm · 14/07/2020 09:58

The Muppets in cabinet think that introducing masks will encourage the health-anxious out to shop. Well they're obviously so stupid they don't know which way their pants go on.
The very ones shouting for masks are simultaneously saying that you should only use public transport for essential journeys. That lot are also using the word "shop" to mean grocery shopping in Tesco et al. Whereas what BoJo wants is people out on the high street shopping for non essentials.

So they are giving in to people who aren't likely to do what they want them to do, while putting off the very people who want to get out and put money in the economy.
They are on a hiding to nothing, the idiots.

What the hell did you say to them? Some people are so up themselves are has happened to considering other people are just as intelligent. obviously more in this case as you are and don't need your sanctimonious advice!
Worldgonecrazy · 14/07/2020 10:02

But if a ramble starts now:

There will be women out there who aren’t disabled but who will have been raped or beaten whilst their attacker held a hand over their mouth. Should those women have to display their trauma every time they go shopping?

I’m also sick of asthmatics acting like their form of asthma is the only one out there and they are alright wearing a mask so therefore ALL asthmatics should wear one. I actually wear a snood for cold weather running because I get cold weather running asthma, otherwise known as exercise induced bronchiolconstriction. Still not happy to wear a mask in any other situation and particularly not for a disease that is less prevalent than others.

I’m sure all those who shriek on about stopping the spread of Covid don’t actually look at numbers of infection. The lack of critical thinking is bizarre.

I’ve ordered a guido fawkes mask and. Sunflower lanyard, that’ll confuse the buggers.

Also does anyone remember in Harry Potter, when the dementors took over, the weather turned crap?

CurseryKinkajoo · 14/07/2020 10:03

So I had to nip into town this morning - 3 shops, Specsavers to get my glasses fixed, Superdrug to collect a prescription & Wilko for a few bits. Decided to try one of the reusable masks we have lying around (dc2 is learning to drive) - a practise run for the 24th. It’s grim. And I felt like a total twat driving home in it Blush

Also not sure on the logistics of washing & drying between uses.

There are 6 of us, I’ll need about 300 based on the Teens current laundry system of leave stuff on the bedroom floor until they run out Hmm

Mascotte · 14/07/2020 10:03

So, @Shodan with the lovely rings, are you thinking of any kind of ceremony? Or just wearing them? What would you tell people? I'm just interested as my mind ponders in these things when I'm trying to think of beautiful jewellery not all the rubbish 😃

I cannot believe how many new mask threads there are. Naively thought that now the smunts had got their own way they'd pipe down a bit. Think I'm also going to give MN a swerve for a while.

I'm also working out what I can do in order to maintain an even keel over the next few months. Starting with a big top up in Costco. A mooch round my town and a trip to TK. All before the 24th.

After that I am going to organise a rolling loop of hanging out with friends at any and all opportunity. I cannot go back to feeling trapped in my house.

Willow2017 · 14/07/2020 10:04

I loved the analogy on breakfast news re the govs indecision on masks to the Oasis album 'Definately Maybe. Citing the "Yes" "No" "Possibly" "Considering it" shit they have spouted lately.

Yes, that's what I think.

They are scared by the dip in the economy and think this will encourage people out.

They seem to have forgotten that these frothing lunatics were the ones begging for a lockdown, complaining it wasn't harsh enough, making up additional rules, winding up the panic, and in love with their idea of themselves as masked crusaders against the most dangerous threat to human life.

It shows how many in the so-called environmental movement were motivated by wallawing in Malthusian disaster scenarios.

Did anyone catch the thread a couple of weeks ago with lots of Dementors saying the annihilation of the human race was both inevitable and desirable?

These people seek to harm.

Worldgonecrazy · 14/07/2020 10:08

@RosieLemonade

I really don’t believe there will be a second wave. There will be outbreaks in care homes, food factories and areas where there are poor and disadvantaged living in over cramped conditions.

Also remember that when the Government use the term ‘outbreak’ it just means two or more linked cases.
