But if it doesn't and in fact goes down then you've got yet another example of using a strategy that, on balance, the scientists agree might have a marginal benefit, but causes greater detriment elsewhere eg the retail economist. Therefore 'cure' worse than the symptoms. Guess you'd need at least a months worth of data to know.
I'm interested in this too. DH and I disagree, he thinks it will increase footfall. But I think that those who were too scared to go shopping will still be too scared, and some of the people who were still going to the high street will now stop.
