@Drivingdownthe101 in the interests of not feeding the covid-beast I chose not to report my hangovers through lockdown (or maybe they were so frequent that it was normal!). I’ve probably messed up poor Phil’s model.

(bad joke Zoe - Tim Spector, dh & I always call him Phil & by happenstance dd1 was watching some god awful true crime thing about Phil Spector yesterday - disturbing!)

TuckMyWin · 08/07/2020 22:13

I will be eternally haunted by the one where someone gets in an abandoned freezer and closes the lid...

So many questions! Abandoned where? Why would you do that? What were they warning against- was there some kind of epidemic of abandoned freezers that people couldn't help climbing into?!!

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 08/07/2020 22:14

Thanks @PatriciaHolm - that’s my fridge “red-buttoned” now and I will feel compelled to climb in and shut it. 😂

—I have actually told the kids never to climb into a freezer they find in the woods—

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 08/07/2020 22:16

@Drivingdownthe101, I too have never felt "physically well". "Functional" would be the best I can plausibly manage, with a side order of "my hip hurts, I haven't had enough sleep and I'm in a foul mood".

I'm also a child of the 70s, does anyone remember the railway one about not playing on the tracks because even if the trains don't get you, the electrified rail will?

I had my hair cut today. Lovely to see my hairdresser who has done my hair for years, and I look tidy for the first time since April. On the negative side, it is really, really horrible going to the hairdresser in a mask: the bits of cut hair get into it and by the end of the haircut it's an instrument of torture. I got into the street and ripped it off, scrubbing my face frantically with a wet wipe. I think I may cut my own hair after this until they're willing to accept customers without masks.

@littlbrowndog

Every single word you say nix 💪💪💪

Visitors coming from England tommorow that virus ridden hellhole corrupting us pure Scots

If you don’t hear from me you will know I have been smitten stone dead by them

Irish people on my FB referring to Britain as "plague island".

That's where the pure Scots live, plague fucking island.

Awful for them really because this virus is only meant to hit right wing countries.

torydeathdrug · 08/07/2020 22:19

^^ yes! It was the thing to do in the 70s ... gangs of feral kids roaming around fly tipping sites, climbing in old freezers* & suffocating themselves. I did actually warn my children never ever ever to climb in a freezer!

*if there was the internet then there would have been anti-freezer dementors all over it!
**i never knew it to happen irl so the public safety message must have worked Wink

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 08/07/2020 22:20

“Plague island” 😂

Drivingdownthe101 · 08/07/2020 22:20

I’m going to start putting my country as ‘plague island’ on official documents.

torydeathdrug · 08/07/2020 22:21

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Nihiloxica · 08/07/2020 22:21

Abandoned fridges and freezers are not just a suffocation risk, they are also full of really nasty germs.

So if you must climb into one to suffocate, make sure to wear a mask.

It will also speed up the suffocation, making the whole process more efficient.

I fell down an Internet rabbit hole and it appears that in the US there was a Refrigerator Safety Act. I feel there definitely would have been Refrigerator Dementors.
FrugiFan · 08/07/2020 22:23

Our town Mayor posted a photo of the town square and market on facebook today with a caption of "lovely to see people out and about in [town]".
Big mistake!
Cue dementors flying in from all sides.
"Why arent they wearing face masks!?"
"Nobody is social distancing has the virus gone away?"
"This virus kills indiscriminately" (it categorically does discriminate)
"Over 60 people have died in [town] and the surrounding area" (a population of approximately 130,000)
Poor Mrs Mayor

Drivingdownthe101 · 08/07/2020 22:26

We all know it kills those who make jokes about plague islands and grannies going to garden centres more than it kills people who screech ‘stay the fuck at home’ and ‘wear a fucking mask’.
It has morals.

Bollss · 08/07/2020 22:27

I've not been physically "well" since having glandular fever!! Because LASTING DAMAGE PEOPLE, LASTING DAMAGE.

and you know what that means?

It means I have to limit my alcohol and fat intake, and THAT is not fair let me tell you.

…..and you might meet Boris Johnson in there too.....

I'm laughing so much at the randomness of our stream of consciousness this evening. Do you think @Welcometothe36to40Box has backed out the room really carefully wondering wtf she accidentally stumbled into? Don't go @welcome, we're normally a bit saner than this. There she was, spotted an interesting looking mathematical thread and is now sat trying work out what exactly she just witnessed!

They missed out 'nobody needs to go shopping'. Er, well, actually....🤦‍♀️
FrugiFan · 08/07/2020 22:29

Apologies, population of around 30,000 but nontheless a small percentage especially considering the mean and median age in our town is higher than average and we have at least 20 care homes.

Nihiloxica · 08/07/2020 22:29

It definitely had morals.

That's why it infected evil murderer Boris Johnson and not nice left wing leaders with no connection to murder, like Mary-Lou McDonald... oh no wait.

If the internet had existed the feral kids would all have been safely indoors playing fortnite ;-)

If anyone would like to see what plagued the nightmares of 1970s' kids.

Willitneverend · 08/07/2020 22:35

Does anyone else occasionally get sponsored ads for products that appear to be aimed at dementors? I keep seeing a FB video ad for a thing called a Safeky, it's designed to stop you having to touch many surfaces (although doesn't pick things up).

Ibake · 08/07/2020 22:37

Yes! Wtf is that and are people buying them?

NothingIsWrong · 08/07/2020 22:39

The one where a boy got his feet chopped of by a train. And I'm sure there was one where someone flew a kite into overhead power lines?

Will the nightmare never end?
