What does ADs mean?!
ADs are anti dementors.

Not that we don't take the virus seriously but that we don't believe that it will kill anyone who breaks 'the roolz'.

We do believe that we can find humour in almost any situation, that there will be a time post covid and we don't have to accept the 'new normal' forever.

We have different views and we accept that. No name calling for someone that disagrees with you. And no putting others down for seeing things differently. Plenty of support for those ground down by or worrying about how things are.

We are intelligent enough to do our own risk assessments (which also includes others that we may come into contact with) and don't accept that anyone who views it differently has any right to tell us what to do.

Anti dementors. Dementors are like the woman in a shop I was in this afternoon who was so busy trying to rearrange the fittings to reinforce the bonkers one way system that she cornered me in a dead end. This is a clothing and home wares shop, in administration, having a closing down sale and, rather than joyfully picking up a few Laura Ashley bargains, it was a frustrating and joyless experience and I felt like I was expected to be grateful for being offered this utterly shit shopping experience.

I walked out in the end because the tea towels I was going to buy would never have been able to spark joy.

torydeathdrug · 08/07/2020 21:41

We believe putting cheese in tea is heinous, children deserve an education & the NHS exists to protect us not vice versa. ‘New normal’ is not to be applauded and modelling your society on Stasi East Germany is bad. Basically. I think.

BakewellTarts · 08/07/2020 21:43

I can't get over the cheese in tea thing. Both are wonderful but never to be mixed together!

Excellent sum up.

We disagree on many subjects, but stand united in opposing cheese in coffee.

Nihiloxica · 08/07/2020 21:44

Or tea.

Zoe app (beloved by the Ds) has tweaked their model again - meaning their prevalence has reduced by a lot. Ironically pretty much identical estimate to the ONS now (you know the ones who are evil Tory stooges & fiddling their figures to save rich people & kill all our grannies).
Oh now look at that. So not only did they make a mistake with their inclusion of antibody tests as positives, they now appear to be admitting that they've been including those who have had it but are no longer carriers in their estimates.....

It's a bit odd though as they say it doesn't include the asymptomatic, but the ONS number does because it's estimated using an infection survey. So I think the Zoe one is still likely to be too high, but is interesting.

Orangeblossom78 · 08/07/2020 21:51

That Zoe app concerns me as think it would be mainly recording dementors or worried well with hayfever or aches and pains etc. So who knows how accurate it could be.

BogRollBOGOF · 08/07/2020 21:55

@TheOrchidKiller

Those public info films had a lot to answer for, BogRoll.

Hang on a minute, I'm from the 1970s, I will have been in one of those 1970s cars! Does that make me immune to the Car-rona virus? Or should I be more worried? Is this why my awful hair has taken on the look of Jimmy Osmond?

I have wondered if they've contributed into terrifying a generation into being hyper-risk adverse parents. Especially with the rise of the internet that can supply and reinforce any worst-case scenario avaliable. (See any thread on the theme of camping, children, gardens. A certain name from 25 years ago is mentioned. Terror strikes, and it's unaminous that it is reckless to even consider letting your precious darlings camp out.
torydeathdrug · 08/07/2020 21:56

There is an obvious selection bias (neurotic) in the people who use Zoe. No evidence to support that view - just my prejudice!

(& I was an Zoe early adopter so I’m including myself with them)

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 08/07/2020 21:58

In that there London you probably can buy Assam infused aged cheddar for the price of an Eton education.

I still have the fear about the 70s school video about the girl who drank drain cleaner (?) thinking it was lemonade and dissolved her trachea and oesophagus and was left mute.

It’s “red button territory” right there and I have to double check my flash bottles to make sure I don’t accidentally drink them.

Bollss · 08/07/2020 21:58

God if I reported every little niggle they'd probably presume I was on deaths door!

Also, was the cheese thing actually serious?!

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 08/07/2020 21:59

I too was an early friend of Zoe and eagerly awaited my chance to input my symptoms. Sadly “my children are doing my fucking head in” was never an option.

@InsaneInTheViralMembrane “I feel physically normal” doesn’t really sum up my overall wellness!

Yes - I always assumed it was going to overindex in what I believe are called the "worried well"....

😂 it always seems fraudulent to tick any box labelled “normal”.

Nihiloxica · 08/07/2020 22:06

This is really a golden era for the worried well.

It’s interesting actually as for the first 8 weeks of lockdown I had a horrific cough. I dutifully reported this on the Zoe app as I thought I was being a good citizen. Now it seems that I was probably recorded as a symptomatic case for that whole 8 weeks!

I will be eternally haunted by the one where someone gets in an abandoned freezer and closes the lid...

Not sure I’ve felt ‘physically well’ in my adult life Grin.
A more accurate description most days would be ‘knackered, a bit hung over, I’ve eaten too much and I’m in a bad mood’.

torydeathdrug · 08/07/2020 22:09

@PatriciaHolm oh god me too! That one gave me nightmares.

Ibake · 08/07/2020 22:11

Lol @InsaneInTheViralMembrane! Welcome @Welcometothe36to40Box, think you've been given a pretty good summary by the AD's!
My most hated 70's safety vid was a rag doll on an escalator. I've disappeared down a rabbit hole of public health broadcasts, fuck, we really didn't hold back did we!

littlbrowndog · 08/07/2020 22:12

Every single word you say nix 💪💪💪

Visitors coming from England tommorow that virus ridden hellhole corrupting us pure Scots

If you don’t hear from me you will know I have been smitten stone dead by them

Nihiloxica · 08/07/2020 22:12

I'm glad I never saw that freezer one. Even the thought of it.

Yes, phobias of slugs, holes, and small spaces.

However, I do not accept claustr as a true phobia because small spaces are properly dangerous as the freezer example shows.
