How many bottles of fizz for 9 people

Depending on Nicolas announcement nexr Thurs hopefully our wedding will go ahead and we'll have a small get together in my MIL garden. Technically going against rules but for one (special) day we're putting rules to one side.
Anyway that's not the point of this post.
Im putting in an order for fizz and have no clue how many bottles to buy. There will be 9 adults, 6 will probably only have one glass as a toast and the other 3 will move on to gin later in the evening. Is 4 about right?

Probably yes, but I'd get a couple more just in case. You can always drink the rest another time.

Tigger001 · 02/07/2020 19:26

It's difficult really so say without knowing the period of time you are planning to run your gathering for ?

Kiki275 · 02/07/2020 19:27

I'd err on the side of caution & but too many. Maybe a half bottle per person. If it doesn't get drunk it will happily keep until Xmas/new year or your 1st wedding anniversary x

*buy too many

P0lka · 02/07/2020 19:28

I'd buy far more than that, and any extra can be kept (or given as gifts etc later on - think of it as a head start on christmas).

At a minimum I'd be budgeting 3x glasses per person, plus an extra bottle or two.

So for 9 people 7-8 bottles.

Spied · 02/07/2020 19:28

I'd say 7. It's be awful to run out.

katienana · 02/07/2020 19:29

I'd buy about 20!

MoMandaS · 02/07/2020 19:29

The general rule of thumb is allow half a bottle per person (bearing in mind some will drink less and some more) so I'd go with 5 to be on the safe side.

AriettyHomily · 02/07/2020 19:29

Well apparently you can get six glasses out of a bottle liars. I'd get 8.

megrichardson · 02/07/2020 19:31

I'd get 10

I saw that too, I'd say 4.5 glasses in a bottle - at a push! Blush
AgentProvocateur · 02/07/2020 19:33

I’d get 12 to be on the safe side. They won’t go to waste.

Mrsemcgregor · 02/07/2020 19:35

My first thought was 13! Grin

MrsBungle · 02/07/2020 19:35

I would buy 10 too Blush Everyone I know is greedy with drinks though Grin

Ohjustme · 02/07/2020 19:40

13 bottles! Even thought 6 of the adults are only drinking 1 glass. I know they wont have more than 1 as they dont like fizz.

So say for toasts it was 2/3 bottles for the 9 people that would leave 11 bottles for the other 3 people. I think that's far too much. Especially because we'll be moving on to gin.

HanPanPeg · 02/07/2020 19:40

My first thought was 12, but that’s probably more wine than toasting fizz and then I’d get a couple of extra on top (too much is preferable and you can also save it)

loutypips · 02/07/2020 19:40

I'd buy a bottle each. Better to have too much than not enough!

caffeinebuzz · 02/07/2020 19:40

I would buy 10. Wouldn't expect them all to be drunk but better to have too much than not enough.

Ohjustme · 02/07/2020 19:41

Oh and we'll be drinking from about but 2pm. 5 of the adults have children so wont be drinking till the wee hours.

It’s your wedding, you don’t want to run out! 2 friends and I did 3 bottles between us in a couple of hours the other day so I’d definitely be buying at least 1 per person to be on the safe side

This. It's a wedding, most people drink more than they would usually. We bought more than twice as much as we thought people could possibly drink but were flabbergasted that we got through about 85% of it.
Youngatheart00 · 02/07/2020 19:44

You really don’t want to run out, and it’ll be flowing I’m sure! Go for 12, you may be able to buy a case, if you don’t use it all you can save a couple of bottles for another special occasion (or as I call them, Fridays) ☺️

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 02/07/2020 19:45

You need 6 minimum. I’d get 8.

Therollockingrogue · 02/07/2020 19:45

I’d say 12 fancy and 8 cheaper bottles
