How do you smell if you go 48 hours with washing/ showering or using deodorant?

Especially in terms of armpit. Do you smell a lot, a little or not at all in 48 hours?

No one wants to smell my bits or pits if I haven’t showered or washed for 24hrs, let alone 48. I didn’t start stinking until I had my youngest son 5 years ago, although I did sweat like a beast for pretty much all of my travels in SE Asia Blush

Another dry earwax owner here. (O+, by the way).

According to DP, I wouldn't smell.

I wash to feel clean and fresh, to get physical dirt and dead skin off me. A side effect of that is smelling of products (I'm not into heavy perfumes, probably because they aren't needed to cover stink with a stronger stink, but I do like some of the mild ones designed for sensitive/allergy prone skin and I do have coal tar baths when the Psoriasis is flaring).

I definitely prefer people to smell of soap than deodorant sprays, though, as they just seem to add an extra thick miasma of yuck to an oily, sour smell.

Don’t smell but I have wet earwax! I am caucasian but with asian B blood type though shrug

Under normal circumstances, I'd be fine - would feel icky, but no discernible smell.

Currently pregnant, and that changes the game. I'd honk. Twice a day showering needed now!

AnneLovesGilbert · 02/07/2020 22:54

This ear wax and blood type stuff is fascinating. I’m O+ and have never used deodorant and don’t ever smell. I hardly ever used to sweat, then practically dripped while pregnant bit but still didn’t smell, and still sweat more than before but no BO. I didn’t grow underarm hair so that probably helps.

Prettybluepigeons · 02/07/2020 22:56

With my nose?

Am I too late with that one?

Ontheboardwalk · 02/07/2020 23:03

Soap and Mitchum get me 24 maybe 36 hours no issue under the armpits

People who say they don’t smell, what about all the other stinky sites. Boobs, skin flaps honestly they don’t smell?

I’m up for a Mumsnet challenge. People who don't smell please go up to a someone 24 and 48 hours and ask them to smell your sweaty bits and see what they say

Appreciate social distancing might be an issue , if these people aren’t in your bubble give it a good wipe and ask them to smell you flannel after 48 hours

I clean my undercarriage after every use of the toilet since I have a bidet at home and am working from home. I brush my teeth and wash my face regularly. My pits don't sweat. My boobs are very petite and non-sweaty. I guess my hair would get oilier but I don't reckon it smells much. I cannot think of any other area that sweats that could smell.

frenchfancy81 · 03/07/2020 01:17

Hardly any armpit smell at all.

wildone84 · 03/07/2020 02:10

Smell a little bit under the arms, but not anything too shocking. I don't wear deodorant normally.

ElizabethMainwaring · 03/07/2020 02:27

@Paperyfish

With my nose
@Prettybluepigeons Afraid so!
DioneTheDiabolist · 03/07/2020 03:05

Depends on the time of the month.

Sometimes I smell neutral, sometimes I smell of a ripe me. I dont mind my own smell, as long as I I'm clean.🤷‍♀️

Nellydean21 · 03/07/2020 03:36

Whiffy. Ok if alone but would wash if in company.

stellabelle · 03/07/2020 03:59

Having worked in many aged care settings, I can guarantee that little old ladies and men who never run around or even walk, can smell really bad after a day without washing. The suggestion that " I don't sweat so I don't smell" is nonsense - just the rubbing of skin on skin is enough to make people smell bad.

I've worked with a few people who swear " I don't sweat / don't use deodorant , and I never smell bad". In every case they smell awful.

Gwenhwyfar · 04/07/2020 15:43

"Boobs, skin flaps honestly they don’t smell?"

I've never noticed a smell from breasts and not sure what you mean by skin flaps. 'Downstairs' would smell after not washing for a while of course and ears would be waxy but no smell.
Thighs and lower back would sweat, but that's not smelly at all, not the same kind of sweat as the armpits.

xxKatie9806xx · 04/07/2020 15:49

I’ve only ever smelt B.O on myself when I’ve been really stressed or upset about something, must be an adrenaline thing. But generally never otherwise. I don’t even have to wear deodorant.

Katinski · 04/07/2020 15:49

@CatBatCat

I don't smell after I had an accident in the war which left me with a condition which means I can't sweat.

I've never done this I've always bathed or showered every night before bed. I know that it's reasonable to not wash every day but I couldn't do it.

Only times I've done it are out of no choice for example when I had flu and could barely walk to the bathroom let alone shower, I was having wash downs with a hot flannel and soapy water and the same when I have operations and have stitches but I wear deodorant every day too and yet I know some people who don't ever wear it and never smell.

I just can't bare the thought of going to bed with all your bits you've been weeing/number twoing from in the day 😂

ell28 · 04/07/2020 16:00

I also use Mitchum and it's the best deodorant I've found and femfresh talc for underneath and under my boobs because they get sweaty 🤢😂

squirrelsbizaar · 04/07/2020 16:04

I think I have got smellier as I’ve got older. So would be quite whiffy after 48 hours.
What I’ve eaten effects how I smell. I like spicy food, I think I can smell that on me the next day.
Also, someone up thread mentioned vegans and veggies not smelling as much as carnivores. I’m veggie, I don’t think that applies to me.

GottenGottenGotten · 04/07/2020 16:09

If I had applied my deodorant 48 hours earlier, my pits wouldn't smell. It works for about 5 days.

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 04/07/2020 16:48

Depends on a few factors...if we are in the middle of a heatwave and I’ve been doing physical work then pretty pongy.

If it’s mild out and I’ve just been pottering I’d smell fine.
Blood type o pos and no much earwax to speak of
