Especially in terms of armpit. Do you smell a lot, a little or not at all in 48 hours?

Do people really not smell without deodorant?

I dont care if this is a BO troll I find that fascinating
48 hrs without deodorant or showering and I reek!

SwelteringInTheHeat · 01/07/2020 20:47

I think not at all, but then I did read that you can't smell your own stench so maybe not!

Bbq1 · 01/07/2020 20:55

Eurgh. I shower once or twice daily. Nothing beats feeling fresh and clean. Everyone is different but I would feel disgusting if I didn't wash for 48 hours

Surely it depends on what you've been doing and how hot it is?

In winter and doing no exercise, probably not much.

In summer and doing some heavy lifting, fairly horrible I'd imagine.

MrsT1405 · 01/07/2020 20:58

My dh never smells nasty. Doesn't use deodorant etc. He showers every day, sometimes twice but even when we travel and he cant shower theres not a whiff. Me, on the other hand smell awful even with deodorant .

👏👏👏
I think you have put today's winning comment. I literally just spat out my tea laughing at that 😂

Saz12 · 01/07/2020 20:59

I never use deodorant and don’t smell. I shower, but not always every day (eg if Im ill, or boiler is knackered etc).

dementedpixie · 01/07/2020 21:00

I get up in the morning and smell bad. I shower at least once a day - twice if I do exercise. Even with antiperspirant I sweat

Iverunoutofnames · 01/07/2020 21:00

Actually depends on time of the month with me.

worldweary45 · 01/07/2020 21:05

I didn't used to smell also have dry earwax but since starting the menopause I smell really bad if I don't shower twice a day

I have 2 adult DC -one doesn't smell ever, they other one can be a bit pongy within a few hours of a shower if they haven't used deodorant

Yes. Honestly. Some people just don’t.

In fact, in places like japan, it’s less usual to need to use deodorant.

reinacorriendo · 01/07/2020 21:08

No Bath or shower - passable

No deodorant- probably really bad

If I’d been for a run without any of these - people would need hazmats

Zoomintheroom · 01/07/2020 21:09

Not at all. I went a week without a shower or wash when I was very ill once. DH couldn't believe there was no whiff from my armpits. I remember being a bit whiffy at the end of each day as a teenager though.

Dieu · 01/07/2020 21:11

I wouldn't smell of BO, but my vag area wouldn't be great Blush

Charles11 · 01/07/2020 21:12

If it’s cool then I don’t really smell. If it’s hot, then that’s a different story.

LurpakIsTheOnlyButter · 01/07/2020 21:13

It depends. Sometimes I smell of pizza.

But only if I've been to pizza express in Woking.

amusedtodeath1 · 01/07/2020 21:14

Depends how sweaty I get, I would think and that depends on weather and activity.
I've never tried it even when I've been really Ill I have a wash or a wet wipes wash and put deo on.

Smyths · 01/07/2020 21:14

@worldweary45 is there any difference in diet etc between your adult DC?

Not a troll honestly - just curious to know what normal is. Not a question I’d ask anyone in real life lol

Alright but I'd feel muggy.

Mistymonday · 01/07/2020 21:20

Not really any smell for a few days tbh. I am vegan though and from my careful testing of male partners over the years, the veggie and vegan ones do smell far less whiffy than the carnivores. Upstairs and downstairs. I think diet can affect odours Imho. Anecdotal and based solely on my unscientific lovelife haha Grin

bunnyrabbit93 · 01/07/2020 21:22

Not alot unless I'm hormonal like pregnancy etc

WhatTheFeckIsGoingOn · 01/07/2020 21:24

I rarely smell, unless I wear fitted tops made from synthetic material, so I don't. If I stick to loose fitting cotton tops I just don't seem to smell at all.

TimeWastingButFun · 01/07/2020 21:25

Don't you mean without? I wouldn't go that long, it's gross.

Bacardi101 · 01/07/2020 21:26

Not at all I don’t think I’ve ever had BO even when I haven’t been able to shower for a few days whilst being ill. I didn’t know there was a link between dry ear wax either!

agentnully · 01/07/2020 21:28

I usually shower every 36-24 hours due to a skin condition I have that worsens if I shower too often.

If it's 36 hours it's a pits 'n' bits shower. 48 and it's a full all over. If it's very hot and I'm sweaty I just wash at the sink.

If I've forgotten to use deo I'll start getting a normal BO smell at about 24 hours. Then I wash and apply. I've never deliberately gone without, though.

When using deo I do stay fresh - unless it's a "natural" one. They've never stopped sweat or smell on me.

I'd have hated to be around before their invention!
